Worst roads in the world. Where are the best roads in the world? Top roads in the world

Russia is gradually improving its position in the ranking of countries in terms of road quality. The next list according to the Global Competitiveness Index 2017-2018, which included 137 states, is presented on the WEF (World Economic Forum) website. Our country is now on the 114th line, while at the end of 2015 it occupied only the 123rd position, and in 2012 it was almost at the very tail (on the 136th place).

To find out about the quality of roads, a survey was conducted among business representatives who were asked to answer the question “How would you rate the quality of roads in your country?”. At the same time, quality was proposed to be assessed on a scale from 1 to 7, where the minimum value suggests the answer “extremely underdeveloped / among the worst in the world”, and the maximum - “extremely developed / among the best in the world”.

According to the results of the survey, Russia received a total score of 2.9 (). Judging by the report published on the WEF website, over the entire period of such polls, Russia has only improved its position. From year to year, the indicator of businessmen's assessment of the roads of the Russian Federation is growing. In contrast to the rating outsider - Mauritania, whose "curve" is gradually moving down. Now this country is in the lead in the list of the states with the most low-quality roads.

TOP 25 countries with the poorest roads in 2017-2018

Place A country score
1 Mauritania 2,0
2 Democratic Republic of the Congo 2,1
3 Haiti 2,1
4 Madagascar 2,2
5 Guinea 2,2
6 Yemen 2,3
7 Paraguay 2,4
8 Ukraine 2,4
9 Mozambique 2,5
10 Moldova 2,5
11 Nigeria 2,5
12 Cameroon 2,6
13 Kingdom of Lesotho 2,6
14 Chad 2,6
15 Costa Rica 2,6
16 Kyrgyzstan 2,7
17 Lebanon 2,7
18 Romania 2,7
19 Venezuela 2,8
20 Nepal 2,8
21 Republic of Malawi 2,8

23 Kazakhstan 2,9
24 Russia 2,9
25 Republic of Benin 2,9

It remains unclear exactly how survey participants rated the roads. What roads were discussed: federal, regional, municipal? About the entire road network as a whole? It is also important which regions of the country the respondents visited, because the situation can be very different from subject to subject of the Russian Federation.

If we assume that Russian businessmen, when answering, are guided mainly by the state of federal highways, then it is not surprising that in recent years they have noted an improvement in the quality of roads: the task of bringing them into a standard state was set at the highest level. Now the government has also taken up regional highways (), and the authorities of the subjects have begun to use road funds more actively.

The rating gives an answer to the question of which countries should be equal in terms of road quality. The top ten includes the United Arab Emirates (6.4), Singapore (6.3), Switzerland (6.3), Hong Kong (6.2), the Netherlands (6.1), Japan (6.1), France (6.0), Portugal (6.0), Austria (6.0) and the United States of America (5.7).

Gradually, Russia adopts foreign experience in the construction, repair and maintenance of roads. Not so long ago, it appeared in our country (in the Murmansk region): the idea was borrowed from Norway (in the ranking it is in 58th place with an indicator of 4.3 points). Presumably the bright lines should be more visible on the tracks in the winter when the roads are hidden under the snow.

The best roads in the world are not in Europe and the USA. This conclusion was reached by experts from the World Economic Forum (WEF), who analyzed data on the state of the automotive infrastructure in 138 countries.

Only one representative of the European Union got into the top five countries with the best roads in the world. If we talk about the TOP-10, then there were five members of the EU. The states did not even make it into the top ten - the Americans are in 13th place.

Outside the top ten were also such countries as, for example, Germany (16th place) and Luxembourg (15th place). The country with the worst roads in the European Union was recognized as Latvia, which took 95th place out of 138 possible. Well, if you want to find Ukraine, then you need.

Before moving on to the TOP-10, let's say a few words about the rating itself. The WEF assessed the state of the automotive infrastructure on a 7-point scale. Seven points failed to score any state.

Despite long-term promises of officials, Ukrainian roads continue to "please" with their condition. So much so that in the most recent ranking from the Global Competitiveness Index for road quality, they took 130th place out of 137.

TO THE POINT

The current government also promises good roads to Ukrainians. True, not immediately, but after a few years. In the meantime, will cost current repairs. Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan said that the two main roads Kyiv-Odessa and Kyiv-Chop will be patched up before the beginning of May. He clarified that it is not yet about a major overhaul, but about the current one.

We all know the endless discussions on the topics: "", "Who brews the most delicious beer?" or "Which company makes the best smartphones?". We are almost certain that you have probably discussed these three questions with your colleagues or friends. But have you ever wondered what is the best road in the world, in terms of the route itself and the surrounding landscape? Where do you think the most is? We offer you the first scientific study in this matter.

A similar scientific study was conducted by Avis, a car rental company around the world. In order to find out which is the best highway in the world, they invited experts in various fields. So in order to choose the best highway on the planet, Avis invited Mark Hadley, who is a quantum physicist. Also, as an expert, the designer and hippodromes Hermann Tilke and the design engineer of the "Roller Coaster" John Worley were involved.

The experts jointly developed a formula that includes estimates for various parameters for each pre-selected route. So the formula includes four main indicators: the beauty of the landscape, the number of curves (turns on the track), the ability to accelerate in a straight line and the convenience of braking.

For each criterion, the experts put their own scores. The scores were then summed up. As a result, each track received a final score. Experts applied this formula to the 25 most famous and most beautiful roads in the world. As a result, the absolute winner was the motorway in Portugal, which received the highest rating. The length of the track is 27 kilometers. This section of the road has 93 turns.

The road runs along the Douro River, overlooking the surrounding hills and vineyards. This one is ideal for a tourist visit.
