LOCALIZATION STEPS
The first "accents" collected in Russia were much more foreign, but less Korean. The body of the editorial car arrived ready-made from Turkey, and most of the components are from there. The current cars are not only assembled, but welded and painted at TagAZ, and assembly kits come directly from South Korea. However, not only. The cars are shod in Nizhnekamsk tires "Kama-225" - this is the most noticeable sign of localization. So far, there are few domestic components, although in Russia there are batteries, glasses, and plastic of quite acceptable quality ... But they often surpass Korean ones in ... price, and sometimes the stability of supplies is lame. For example, a Korean upholstery clip costs 34 kopecks, and a domestic one will cost a ruble, and even then if you invest in the production base of a subcontractor. What is the use of such localization? But TagAZ is constantly considering new proposals. Small rubber bands, hood stops, floor mats, an LG radio tape recorder - all this is Russian-made. We partially mastered the production of seats: pillows and covers made in Taganrog are mounted on the Korean frame (on the Accent, like other Hyundai, the upholstery cover is removable). The most likely Russian candidates for the near future are glass and electrical wiring harnesses.
FROM ONE TO…
The most noticeable difference between today's Accent and the 2003 car is its appearance. The new bumper and radiator grill, like a good mood, changed the predatory grin to a good-natured "smile" - it is more fitting for a family car. Now let's open the engine compartment: the first thing that caught my eye was the heat shield on the hood. "Turkish" cars did without it.
Changes in the engine are not visible from the outside. The new control program and neutralizer allow it to fit into the strict Euro III standards. The Russian standard does not require this yet, but the old motors no longer do it. A hallmark of a "cleaner" engine is the second oxygen sensor after the converter. The entire exhaust system from the converter is now made of stainless steel, and therefore much more durable. The upgraded engine has a new starter, which is less noisy.
The motor also entailed changes in the transmission. On cars with a manual transmission, a reinforced clutch mechanism is now installed - the diameter of the driven disk has been increased from 200 to 215 mm. Larger and pressure plate, modified crankcase and flywheel. It is clear that the new clutch is not interchangeable with the old one.
On the current "accents" the master cylinder and brake booster are different. A small but important detail - they increased the cross section of the "mass" wire on the engine. Recall that it was he who became the reason for the failure of the editorial "Accent" when it was launched in the refrigerator (ЗР, 2004, No. 1).
Isofix child seat mounts and seat belt reels with a pyrotechnic pretensioning mechanism appeared in the cabin. In the basic configuration, MT1 Hyundai Accent is not equipped with airbags and ABS brakes - these are the requirements of the market. The Russian buyer is not ready to pay for security, and breaking his mind "over the knee" by offering only richly equipped cars is not the best way to campaign.

The rest of the suspension parameters have not changed. Springs of any of the three stiffness groups can be installed on machines. The hardest ones are marked with a white dot, yellow - medium, and the softest - red. They will be 10 mm lower than white ones at the calculated load.
Body cavities are soon planned to be filled with a plastic anti-corrosion compound - not so much to protect against corrosion, but to reduce noise when driving on roads where small pebbles hit the bottom of the car.
Until the end of 2006, there will be no radical changes in the Taganrog "accents". Restyling of the Korean car in 2005, most likely, will not affect Russian "accents". So far, both old and new body parts are being produced. But if Korea stops stamping the old ones, then the Russians will get cars with a different design.
Hardly "Hyundai Accent" can be called a showcase of modern technical solutions, and the word "consumer goods" in our country has always been something of a curse. Hyundai specialists took care of increasing the level of sound insulation and reducing fuel consumption. The latter was achieved with a new system that prevented fuel that had warmed up in the engine area when the driver released the accelerator pedal from getting back into the tank. This made the car both greener and more economical.
The car was produced as a hatchback with three and five doors, as well as a sedan.
The second generation Accent had three versions:
L - basic equipment, standard equipment includes only height adjustment of the driver's seat.
LS - differs from the base one in the presence of internal door handles with protection against accidental opening and more expensive seat upholstery. At the request of the customer, it is possible to install an air conditioner.
GLS - heated rear window with timer, driver's seat with tilt adjustment and armrest, folding rear seatback in parts. It is possible to have ABS, air conditioning, electrically adjustable mirrors, power windows and central locking.
The Accent was equipped with petrol engines with a working volume of 1.3 and 1.5 liters with a capacity of 70 to 91 hp, equipped with a carburetor or injection. In GS and GLS trim levels, an injection engine is standard.
The suspension is rigid on cars with all types of bodies - completely independent, with two anti-roll bars. Front brakes - disc, ventilated, rear - drum.
Since 2001, Hyundai Accent has been produced at the Taganrog Automobile Plant.
In 2003, the third generation comes. The novelty has received changes, both in terms of design and in the technical part. The novelty has a completely new design of the front of the body, the idea of which is borrowed from the new Hyundai Coupe - a similar solution to the radiator grille, recognizable large headlights. The side panels of the body and the rear of the car have also undergone minor changes. The Accent interior has also been updated, with a new front panel design and new finishing materials. There are two types of transmission: 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic. With a manual transmission, the engine consumes about 5 liters per 100 km. Hyundai Accent accelerates to 100 km / h in 11.5 seconds, top speed - 173 km / h.
The car has a trunk of 375 liters. The design, in which the lower edge of the trunk lid reaches the bumper, facilitates loading. Galvanized body has excellent corrosion resistance.

An important part of the car in the summer is the cabin filter, which filters out all the dust that flies into the cabin through the air ducts.
For some reason, the TagAZ management is sure that it is possible to save money on the cabin filter for the Hyundai Accent and it is not put on the conveyor. It is very rare that a cabin filter is installed by dealers during the pre-sale preparation of a car. Most often, Accent's get to buyers without this small but necessary detail.
Cabin filter for Hyundai Accent Tagaz assembly consists of two halves, which are installed in the ventilation system behind the glove box.
At first, with each replacement, I bought a new cabin filter, then washed it in a washing machine every other time. Of course, he didn’t become “like new”, but it was enough for one more run.

Old cabin filter (two halves)

A replaceable filter for a kitchen hood can be purchased at the same Auchan for 110-150 rubles. Its area is enough for 6 cabin filters (depending on the size of the replaceable filter). I purchased a two-layer carbon filter for myself.
Step 1. We take the old cabin filter. Gently shake out the main dirt from it. 
Then we cut off the used filter element along the perimeter with a knife. We will only need a plastic frame. 
Step 2. According to the internal size of the plastic frame, we cut out the blanks from the kitchen hood filter with scissors. 
Step 3. Glue the "thick" carbon filter.
If you have a two-layer kitchen filter, then follow the instructions in what order the layers in the hood should be located. And in the same way, place the second layer on the cabin filter.
The cabin filter has a ledge at the top and a groove at the bottom for fixing the halves of the filter. The air flow in the duct goes from right to left. And on the corresponding side, glue the second layer of the filter element.
Step 4. Repeat these operations for the second half of the Hyundai Accent cabin filter.
Step 5. We leave our “product” alone for the glue to dry (from a minute to 24 hours, depending on the type of glue). More information about the drying time can be found on the adhesive package.
Step 6 We install the finished cabin filter in the car.

Insert a suitable head under the standard studs and knock them out with a hammer. Install the studs longer and fit the prepared spacers. Fix everything with nuts and install the racks.
