Renault jokes that every Russian at least once in his life drove a car of their brand. Considering the number of taxis with a rhombus on the radiator grill running through our streets and looking at the sales statistics in Russia of "state employees" on the B0 platform, you understand that this joke is not so far from the truth. But any manufacturer, and not only a car manufacturer, who has received the title of "people's brand", sooner or later understands how difficult it is to get rid of it. It is not for nothing that Wolfsburg has been fighting for so many years to ensure that their products, for the most part that have long ceased to be “folk”, are not perceived as consumer goods. And there are some developments in this area. For example, the new Tuareg is already more expensive than the Audi Q7.

Renault also tried to raise the status of the brand, releasing either the avant-garde Avantime or the luxurious Velsatis. But all attempts to make a high value-added product have been thwarted by a lack of interest on the part of buyers. Now the French have calmed down and are no longer eager to compete with the "premium". By and large, European buyers do not need this: you drive a Clio or a Cayenne, the attitude of other drivers towards you does not change in any way. After all, "they" on the roads are all equal, and the car is never a measure of the "steepness" of its owner. We have our own "national characteristics". In Russia, the status of the car directly affects how many times you are let through, cut off or signaled.

The full LED headlights are great.

You ask why such a long tirade and is it not time to move on to describing the problems of Renault Koleos? But the fact of the matter is that the main problem of Koleos is how others perceive it. After all, you must admit, having paid more than two million for a car, you expect to increase driving comfort not only physically (more space in the cabin, better sound insulation, higher dynamic performance), but also psychologically. And here expectations are very different from reality: Koleos is perceived by other drivers in much the same way as Duster, which is three times cheaper.

Having traveled for three months around St. Petersburg, Moscow and its environs, I was more than once convinced that, despite the impressive dimensions, Koleos not only “does not notice” on the road, but also periodically strives to “offend” - to put in place the presumptuous upstart, a steroid-fueled descendant of the Duster. This is especially evident in the contrast when you change into a car of a “premium” brand of smaller sizes, but about the same cost.

The instrument panel display has several design options. The buttons for the transmission modes, heated steering wheel and trunk opening are located inconveniently to the left of the steering wheel, and for some reason the cruise control and speed limiter are located next to the handbrake.

And this is doubly insulting, because Koleos is really cool! It looks great even against the background of longer crossovers and is well equipped. Where else can you find a foreign car of the same size and price, which will have a 2.5-liter engine (it's here, like the chassis, from the Nissan X-Trail), all-wheel drive, LED headlights, climate control, leather interior , heated rear seats, power tailgate, parking sensors “in a circle”, a luxurious Bose audio system with a subwoofer and the same huge (almost 9 inches diagonally) screen of the media center!

The back is very spacious. For passengers, there are two USB sockets, the buttons for heating the rear row of seats are “hidden” in the armrest.

Of course, to get this price, the creators of Renault Koleos had to save on something. So, the door cards are not rigid enough and “walk” when the windows are lowered, and the window lifters themselves are equipped with buttons made of slippery plastic and do not have automatic closers anywhere except the driver’s seat. The media system, in fact, does not shine with speed and graphics quality, and the output of all functions on the touch panel leads to the fact that it is more convenient to adjust the sound or scroll through the radio stations on the go with the help of an archaic steering column switch. Despite the large screen, due to its vertical orientation, the virtual keyboard buttons in the navigator are small and located very low - when you try to type an address on the go, you can't see the road at all. By the way, the media system has a “voice assistant”, but all attempts to set a route with its help were unsuccessful. The system does not recognize speech well, and when choosing a target in the navigator, be prepared for the fact that at the last step it will “throw” you into the main menu and you will have to repeat everything again.

Otherwise, Koleos is a rather boring car, in the good sense of the word. The Nissan chassis and engine have been time-tested, and the CVT, if you do not overheat it on the road, works just as well as an automatic machine, perfectly simulating the moments of shifting “virtual” gears and saving fuel. For three months, this crossover has not given a single reason to doubt its reliability or find fault with the build quality. The disadvantages include perhaps too hard, by the standards of Renault, the suspension. At the same time, in everyday operation, such “little things” as the presence of large mirrors, a powerful parking sensor signal and a full-size spare wheel turn out to be very valuable.

The motor is practically "omnivorous", but we did not dare to pour gasoline below the 95th.

"I'm interested in Renault Koleos with a two-liter turbodiesel. Please tell us where this model is assembled and what features this car has, otherwise there is very little information about it."

Debuted in 2008, the Koleos is often hailed as Renault's first crossover, but some buzzwords claim the title belongs to the Scenic RX4, while others also mention the Kangoo 4x4. We will not argue, but rather we will tell you everything that we know about Koleos.

So, the most important thing that a potential buyer of a used Koleos needs to know is that this French car is assembled in ... South Korea! And they even sell it there under their own name Samsung QM5. The second important fact is that Renault Koleos is unified with the Japanese crossover Nissan X-Trail of the second generation, which, coupled with the country of assembly, has a very positive effect on reliability.

Actually, about reliability a little later, but for now, general information. Debuted Koleos, as already mentioned, in 2008. Three years later, in 2011, it was slightly updated - the exterior was changed and the interior was slightly modified, taking into account the increased demands of buyers for comfort and equipment by that time. Three more years later, in 2014, Koleos again slightly "transformed" (pictured - restyling in 2011).

What is Koleos as a "person"? We remember this "Japanese-French" first of all by the high level of comfort. Soft suspension, good sound insulation, a general "lulling" atmosphere - despite the close relationship with the X-Trail, the French managed to create a truly French car with all its inherent features.

In terms of internal space, Koleos even surpasses the X-Trail, rear passengers are also offered backrest adjustment for tilt, an armrest with cup holders and tables in the backs of the front seats. And for small, but important things, there are niches at the feet of the rear passengers.

The only thing that really surprises potential buyers in Koleos is the design of the tailgate, which for some reason is made hinged. The glass rises, the lower part of the door drops to the horizontal, and this creates certain difficulties - it can only reach the bowels of the trunk without getting dirty.

At the same time, there are no complaints about the trunk itself: the volume in the usual position is 450 liters, with the rear seat backs folded down - 1380 liters. At the same time, a perfectly flat surface is formed, on which two people can sleep in field conditions.

Let's move on to technology. The base Koleos was offered only with front-wheel drive, as an option there was an All-Mode 4x4-i all-wheel drive system, completely identical to that of the Nissan X-Trail. A feature of this system is the presence of three operating modes: you can drive in front-wheel drive mode, in bad weather - in Auto mode, when the rear axle will be connected automatically when the front axle slips, to overcome particularly difficult sections there is a Lock mode, when the center clutch is blocked, providing equal distribution of torque along the axes. However, in order to avoid breakdowns or accelerated wear, this mode only works up to 50 km / h, after which it automatically turns off.

Two engines were offered for Koleos. The naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four, borrowed from Nissan, developed 171 hp. and provided good dynamics. True, in combination with a fairly decent fuel consumption. The gasoline engine was combined either with a 6-speed "mechanics" or with a variator.

The turbodiesel, developed jointly by Nissan and Renault, with a working volume of 2.0 liters, produced 150 or 173 hp, depending on the version. Moreover, if the first option was available with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, then the second one was offered exclusively in the 4x4 version and with a 6-band "automatic".

The turbodiesel Koleos is considered the most problem-free option - both the turbodiesel and the "automatic" combined with it are reliable. In addition to the traditional problems caused by either huge mileage or irregular maintenance, the owners of diesel Koleos do not report anything criminal. If there are breakdowns, then mostly on trifles: then the “climate” will go haywire, then the fuel level sensor will start to go crazy.

With a gasoline engine, there are also few problems. But the variator is still a problem. With runs over 200 thousand km, you may encounter the need for a major overhaul of this unit. And it will come out, believe me.

Only a Jeep can have a really problematic Renault Koleos - despite the advanced all-wheel drive system, this crossover is absolutely not designed for off-road assault. Soft suspensions do not withstand high-speed movement on bad roads for a long time, and if you like to storm sandy hills or deep ruts in the mud, then the rear axle coupling will also “live” for a very short time - its multi-plate clutch is poorly protected from dirt and sand, as a result of which it wears out much faster.

But if you don’t consider yourself a “jeeper” and are looking for a car for calm and comfortable movement in space, then Renault Koleos is a very good option. There are no "childhood diseases" or design flaws in it, and the modification you have chosen does not have any chronic defects. The prices are also pleasing: in our database of free ads, they start at $ 9,700, but, however, diesel engines are practically not found on our market.

How reliable is the Renault Koleos budget crossover? The trick here is choosing the right transmission, and it can be more serious than you think ... This model began its history in 2008 in Korea at the Samsung plant, owned by the Nissan-Renault alliance.

In Russia, Renault Koleos, which largely inherited the aggregate base from the Nissan Qashqai / X-Trail, began to be sold in 2009. The car expected by fans of the brand was in full demand, but the debut was not crowned with record sales. The competition in this market segment was already more than significant, and the car did not stand out in anything special. However, in the secondary market, it is inexpensive, which means it is of legitimate interest.

The range of engines on the market consists of only two options. The first is a gasoline 4-cylinder aspirated from Nissan with a working volume of 2.5 liters, proven and reliable, requiring only regular maintenance every 15 thousand km during operation, for which the dealer is asked from 14,500 rubles. (And the unofficial ones are at least one and a half times cheaper).

The clutch for connecting the wheels of the rear axle is poorly protected from dirt - sand simply kills it

The 2.0-liter turbodiesel unit is a joint development between Renault and Nissan. This engine is less common, but no problems are known to be associated with it. It can only be noted that, due to the poor quality of domestic diesel fuel, the service interval has been reduced to 10 thousand km. In addition, when operating mainly in the urban cycle, it requires forced regeneration of the particulate filter from time to time. The Check Engine light signals that the time has come for her. This procedure requires a special stand, 40 minutes of time and about 1500 rubles. Another periodic concern is the replacement of the timing belt and additional equipment, including rollers, should be done every 60 thousand km and costs about 11 thousand rubles at dealer service stations under the "complex service" program.

ALARM PLATES

Three types of transmissions are offered in various trim levels for Renault Koleos. The most affordable option is a 6-speed manual transmission. With proper operation, this unit works flawlessly. Isolated cases of contacting the service station with complaints about the indistinct operation of the shift lever are solved by adjusting the wings, and the cost of the issue is in the range of 1500-2000 rubles. But when you try to use this car as a “real SUV”, you can get to replace the clutch and spend about 30 thousand rubles.
The six-speed "automatic" of the Japanese company Jatco did not receive any complaints during the period of operation, even with significant mileage figures.

But the stepless variator of the same company is far from being so simple. Because of the design features, it is he who has many complaints. “Cutting without a knife” the driver’s heart, strange sounds at the service station are removed by changing the variator firmware, which leads to an increase in engine belt tension and, as a result, to higher idle speeds and slightly increased fuel consumption. But the main thing is that when buying a used Koleos, you must remember that the resource of a steel lamellar belt is only 100 thousand rubles, the work to replace it costs about 20 thousand rubles, and the unit itself costs 325 thousand rubles. Are there workarounds to solve this problem with less bloodshed? As we were told at ZF-MAI, in principle, the practice of restoring lamellar belts exists and costs an average of 60-70 thousand rubles.

Okay, but small.
The monitor is located in the right place - it's even a pity that it is microscopic

Like the big ones. The tailgate is a strange solution for a crossover. It is convenient to have a snack, but it interferes a little with loading things.

BUT DO NOT NEED DIRT
Four-wheel drive on Renault Koleos is implemented through a mechanical transfer case in combination with an electromechanical clutch. Depending on the operating conditions, you can choose one of the transmission modes: Auto, 2WD and 4WD. By the way, after a set speed of 50 km / h, permanent four-wheel drive is automatically turned off, which, of course, increases the transmission resource. It is worth noting that when using the machine to move at a decent speed along sand dunes and dusty clay primers, you can forget about the trouble-free operation of the assembly - the coupling is poorly protected from dust and dirt getting inside the knots. Sand particles damage the underlying multi-plate clutch, leading to costly repairs.

Armed. A full-size spare tire in our conditions is an absolute plus

BUSHINGS, RACKS, LEVER
In terms of smoothness, the Koleos performs well, besides, the independent front suspension of the McPherson system and the independent multi-link rear provide it with decent directional stability. The main consumables for the suspension are bushings and stabilizer struts that need to be replaced after 50 thousand km (10 thousand rubles for each side). After 60 thousand kilometers, at least the rear shock absorbers should be replaced, while dealers offer to solve this problem for 13 thousand rubles. along with work. On runs of 80 thousand km or more, the front lower arm is replaced, it costs about 12 thousand rubles. for the side. Of course, with tough off-road operation, suspension costs increase significantly.

Comfort in parts. There is enough legroom, and there are tables with cup holders, but the sofa is not very comfortable.

Original brake pads run for at least 15 thousand rubles, brake discs are designed for a mileage of 45 thousand km.

ON DIFFERENT POLES
In the electrical part, up to a certain point, the battery created problems - it has a reverse terminal arrangement, so it is not possible to replace a failed battery with a non-original one. However, for some time now Renault has reduced the price of its batteries, which partly solved the problem. Otherwise, the inconvenience is created only by frequently burned out light bulbs. However, changing them is easy...

Stash under the rug. Customs, of course, will find a secret box in the floor, but the wife is unlikely

LIKE THE BIG
The Renault Koleos body has a small surprise for the consumer: instead of a single fifth door, it has a tailgate and an upper sash, like the good old SUVs. On the one hand, it is convenient for arranging picnics - here you have both a bench / table and a roof over your head. However, due to this arrangement, unloading and loading becomes more complicated and clothes get dirty when manipulating the trunk.

The interior of the car is quite consistent with its price category - everything is modest, but neat. Instruments are clear and informative. The pilot and front passenger seats are quite roomy and comfortable, but those sitting in the back are less fortunate: there is not enough legroom, and getting into the cabin is inconvenient due to the complex shape of the rear doorway.

In the three years since the start of Russian sales, Renault Koleos has not become a mass car on our roads, but it gives its owners much more pleasure than trouble, and with proper care and adequate use, it faithfully serves tens of thousands of kilometers. And the nuances - well, now you know about them.

Owner's opinion. Nikita, Renault Koleos 2.5, 2008 V.):

The car was purchased in early 2009, I was waiting for him, signed up, so to speak, in the queue. At the first meeting, he surprised me a little unpleasantly, especially the back of the body. Another negative thing - in the first week of operation, the snowplow brushes froze (since then I just lift them up) and immediately began to deceive the fuel level sensor and the temperature sensor. It is inconvenient to turn on the heated seats. All of the cons. Consumption in the city - 12 liters, less on the highway, of course. It is very good that the rear window is always clean, even in good weather. Noise isolation at the level, the music is good, accelerates smoothly and powerfully. The variator pleases. Everything is comfortable in the cabin, my height is 185 cm - and I fit in completely. Engine power is enough, I do not get tired on the road. Service costs are acceptable, and the quality of services is satisfactory. Now the mileage has exceeded 37 thousand km, and I have not regretted the purchase yet.

I wrote about the car in the first two reviews, everything suits me, a comfortable move from point A to B. I sat down last spring in the new Koleos in the maximum version, I wanted to give up on my own without looking, but for some reason I was upset, because. in memory the state of the interior of the car sample of 2008. The skin has become artificial without perforation, the airiness of the plastic has disappeared (maybe the stamps - the molds have worn out?) And the negative reviews of the Russian assembly. Therefore, I did not change and continue to exploit my Korean Kolyan.

There have been no breakdowns in the entire history of operation. There was a small accident, hitting a downed calf at night on the highway at a speed of 110 km / h. I did not have time to react, turned away a little, hit the right front wheel, jumped successfully, landed the same. Bent the rack, burst fender liner. I drove to the service, and this is 50 km, myself. After repair at the official, I drove more than 20 tons. Km, the flight is normal. According to the elk, the first TAZ 2114 car that hit the elk cannot be restored, the guy was in intensive care for a week. The second Toyota car seems to be a Verso, a right-hand drive type of a low minivan - all the plastic crumbled into pieces, everything was put together and loaded into it. They pulled off the front panel (TV) with their hands, tied everything that could be under the hood to it, so that the engine would work and the man would go, he said how he was alive, he stayed, he didn’t know, Khan thought!

While I was driving to the service, I thought I had to buy an even larger car and a frame one. So far I have settled on the new Trellblazer, but we will wait for the type of crisis.

Strengths:

Good car! But now for 1,700,000 rubles I would not buy!

Weak sides:

The problem is replacing the brake fluid, because. a special pump is required to push the pump of the ESP system and they don’t change it for you in the service, but they write that they replaced it. And antifreeze, it’s difficult, because. two thermostats. Maybe someone will advise, because. it's time. I did not find any other problems in operation. About ESP, it’s worth it, to be honest, it’s not needed for hell, it’s for inexperienced drivers.

Good day to all readers and writers!;)

As I wrote in my last review about Stepway, Koleos became my next car.

The Renault brand really caught on with its adequacy in price, quality and indifference on the part of traffic police and hijackers.

Strengths:

  • Convenient, reliable, adapted to Russia at a very reasonable price

Weak sides:

  • In addition to the headrest, I have not identified others yet

Review Renault 2.5 170 CVT (Renault Koleos) 2011 Part 2

Good day everyone.

A year and a half and almost 35,000 km have passed since the purchase of the car, so some conclusions can be drawn.

Generally speaking, the car did not disappoint. Maybe just for the reason that he roughly imagined what to expect from him.

Strengths:

  • Rides) And rides well enough!

Weak sides:

  • Controversial appearance

Review Renault 2.5 (170) CVT (Renault Koleos) 2008 Part 3

Hi all! I decided to write a little in an engineering way about my crossover, because. Koleos was undeservedly omitted in all journals, I understand that all articles are paid, therefore:

1. Geometric cross-country ability, compared with other crossovers for a long time, the conclusion is the best geometry, gaps in its class, checked according to ORD magazine measurements and practically on slopes and hunting and fishing trips. Doesn't stick anywhere. Protection is required.

2.The ALLMODE4X4-i drive system is the best available today, in TerrainResponse you have to spin the drum to select the desired program. I almost always drive in the AUTO position, when the road kicks up (this is when my wife starts screaming in fear)), then I block the clutch. I sat down only three times due to inexperience. In the AUTO position, approximately the distribution of thrust is 90-95% front and 10-5% rear. As verified, you turn on 2WD on the go, the car immediately changes the nature of handling to front-wheel drive, I don’t like it anymore, in AUTO the car goes on the track like it’s on rails. Diagonal hanging is not scary, I am often told that no one needs it, but I constantly encounter this, because. there is enough snow in winter, when you leave the pit along the road, where the cars are parked, onto the road, then everyone grinds, and we easily, only you can hear how the diagonally free wheels slow down. This is still only in freelander and x-trail. The rest smoke.

Strengths:

  • There are no alternatives in this class!

Weak sides:

  • Large turning radius, bigger wheels, 65th profile at 17 radius just right and adaptive cruise is not enough to complete happiness
  • Not in the automatic transmission options hydraulic, cloudy rain sensor

Review Renault koleos 2.5 CVT (Renault Koleos) 2008 Part 5

Good day to all! I have not visited the site for a long time, so I wandered, I decided to report for the period. I will not praise. To write about the merits - I already wrote, I will be brief. Basically I think to describe the technical costs associated with the operation.

For reference: car mileage is mixed. For almost four years ran 127,000 km. On Koleos I was in Krasnaya Polyana (Sochi) in winter; the second time in Lazarevsky - in the summer; then to Abzakovo (ski base in the Urals); Through Moscow - Warsaw - Prague went to Vienna; through Moscow to St. Petersburg, to Moscow a couple of times on business. To Khvalynsk for our skiing, in winter, a couple of times a month. Well, every day in Saratov on business ...

Of the breakdowns, only the hydraulic panel of the variator (electronic gear selection mechanism) really let down, but it didn’t break, but began to pull the car in traffic jams on the “first”, in general it was not critical and not problematic, but as soon as the warranty was confirmed, then I did not refuse to replace . As the dealers said, it is necessary to change the oil in the vario at 60 t km, but Renault does not require it, but Nissan requires it, and it twitched on Koleos)))

Strengths:

Weak sides:

  • During operation, I found some flaws in ergonomics, I would like the manufacturer to fix them, but judging by the updated version, everything remained as it was. However, these are trifles from the series “hard to reach” or “I would like it to be even more convenient”, but if you look objectively, then this is whining ...

Good day!

Since the previous recall, the car has run another 20,000 km. Passed the scheduled TO-45, no problems were identified on it. The opinion previously expressed by servicemen about the need to replace the front brake discs and pads in a circle magically transformed into a proposal to replace only the front pads. Since the cost of this operation at the dealer was approaching 7 thousand (including the pads themselves), I replaced the pads at a private service for 1200. Nevertheless, on the approaching TO-60, the front brake discs and rear pads will still have to be changed.

I independently managed to cope with the rattling of the rear seat adjustment mechanism indicated in the previous review. The problem turned out to be as follows: a metal plate with holes is attached to the body, one of which is inserted into a pin located in the back of the seat. By rearranging the pin in other holes, the backrest is adjusted. Here's how he clumsily explained it. Well, now, the diameter of the pin is smaller than the diameter of the hole, hence when driving on uneven roads (and we all have them), rattling is heard. On the edges of the hole in which the pin rattled, I pasted several pieces of electrical tape. Everything seems to be primitive, but the rattling has stopped. Other noises in the car did not appear, which pleases.

Strengths:

Weak sides:

Review Renault Koleos 2.0 dCi (Renault Koleos) 2009

I read here that they write about the gasoline version. I saw that in general people are satisfied. Didn't find any diesel reviews.I fill in the gap. I am writing about the diesel Koleos, especially since it is a completely different machine.

Let's start with the fact that diesel Koleos in 2009 were produced only either in the highest configuration, or one step lower. All diesel Koleos with 6 speed gearbox. My complete set is TOP!Called Luxe Privilege 4x4 2.0 AKP6 Diesel. IN This set has EVERYTHING. TOtaken in June 2010 for RUB 1,264,000 produced in 2009

Strengths:

  • Powerful, elegant, economical jeep
  • Passengers love the glass roof, especially when traveling. Yes, and sometimes I look through it at traffic lights at intersections
  • Outstanding visibility
  • Good fit
  • Huge mirrors
  • AWESOME aerodynamics - the rear window is always clean, which is very strange and unusual for a jeep
  • Very grippy, grippy brakes. The braking force is clearly dosed, there is no backlash in principle
  • Very high-torque, even greyhound engine with automatic transmission. The designers have balanced them very well. Easy to pick up at the start, perfectly kept in the stream. Overtaking uphill - no problem. The truth loses its momentum after 120 km / h.
  • Off-road, what can I say: in the city, it climbs / climbs effortlessly on 15cm curbs. A little higher is also possible - but be careful. The variator does not play such games. Any winter hummocks, city gully passes without problems. I didn’t climb shit, but I walked along the dirt track a couple of times. Feel absolutely confident

Weak sides:

Against the backdrop of positive cons, which revealed two years of operation:

  • At first, I VERY didn’t like his face ... but now I’ve got used to it - it even seems pretty
  • The windshield washer works strangely. It feels like it lacks power in the winter. You can ride, but it does not spray to the top of the windshield. You can raise the nipples, then it's fine, but then in the summer the raised nipples splatter the roof
  • I VERY dislike the silver trim on the visor of the multimedia system screen at the top of the torpedo. She brightly illuminates the video on the registrar. Because of her, the registrar had to be moved from under the mirror lower, which means narrowing the viewing angle
  • There is no indication of turning on the heating of the driver's seat on the dashboard. The button lights up on the seat when it's on. But the button is not visible. And in the summer a couple of times the seat turned on by accident, then I rode on it
  • The glasses are not athermal :(, the sun is hot

Review Renault 2.5 170 CVT (Renault Koleos) 2011

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen!

So I apologize in advance for the somewhat chaotic text and deviations from the canons of reviews, if any.

Strengths:

  • Noise isolation (compared to classmates in the price segment)
  • No need for hijackers
  • The roof is cool

Weak sides:

  • Prejudice :)

Review Renault 2.5l 4wd 171hp CVT (Renault Koleos) 2009

Hi all,

when I chose this car, I studied the reviews for a long time, so I decided to make my own contribution, maybe it will help someone in choosing their option.

In 2009, he chose a crossover for his wife. Initially, I planned to take a used X3 from Germany, I wanted a 2-3l turbodiesel, but, as you know, the customs officers made an unpleasant surprise for everyone at the end of 2008, so I had to abandon this option, because I didn’t want to buy here.

Strengths:

  • The best crossover option in terms of money / functionality
  • Excellent handling, suspension, flotation
  • Comfortable interior with plenty of storage space
  • Low theft and the price of insurance
  • Low maintenance cost

Weak sides:

  • High consumption of gasoline
  • The algorithm of the variator is clumsy
  • Not the most successful car exterior design (however, an updated version is already on the way, much more successful)
  • Washers for glass and headlights (I believe that a design flaw)
  • Auto-brush mode clumsy
  • Small trunk and back seat
  • Possible big price drop on sale

Review Renault Koleos 2.5 (Renault Koleos) 2008 Part 3

Review Renault Koleos 2.5 4WD (Renault Koleos) 2008

At the end of May 2010, I bought a used one with a range of 8500 km in the maximum configuration. Before that, I tested a similar car in a car dealership and was pleasantly surprised by the comfort and suspension. I knew everything about the dynamics before, because. a relative drove a Nissan X-Trail with the same engine and CVT. I was looking for a used one, because I did not want to pay so much money for a new one.

Someone likes the exterior of any car, someone does not. I took it for myself, I like it. The rear window is at a very decent angle, it does not get dirty at all. The angle of entry front and rear of the bumpers is very close to the Volkswagen Tiguan, you don't have to worry about deep and high obstacles. Excellent noise isolation and smooth running. Handling like a Nissan. I raised the brushes by a division, ended up in the windshield heating zone, and adjusted the windshield washers in advance before winter. I did not feel any particular inconvenience during operation in the winter, like many who write on the forum. But for Renault, a big minus is that they didn’t think through the heating of the brushes in the waiting area and you need to do the windshield heating. I put upper and lower nets in the front bumper to protect against dirt, pebbles and midges, I don’t understand why Renault engineers don’t think about elementary things. You can't let a car out with holes like that! Be sure to protect the crankcase.

Strengths:

  • Comfort
  • Equipment
  • Dynamics
  • economy
  • Excellent suspension

Weak sides:

  • Some minor flaws

Review Renault koleos 2.5 CVT (Renault Koleos) 2008 Part 4

Good day to all. Decided to write a year and a half period of operation. We lived with KOLEOS for quite a long time for grinding. In general, satisfaction from my typewriter wins, but I find fault all the time, but how else?

Let's start with reliability. It was repaired more than once and for strange reasons ... and tried to repair it myself ... Firstly, the refrigerant from the air conditioner escaped somewhere twice. The first time they didn’t find it, they stupidly refueled it and sent it home, but six months later I returned to them (it was winter, but I felt it in the spring), it doesn’t work again. This time, with their smart glasses, they found out that he was running away from somewhere ... they apologized (which is important), refueled and let him go again, while he was working, he lived through the summer ...

Then something pounded in the chassis … went to the servicemen. It turned out that the bushings of the stabilizers were broken, they were changed under warranty, because Renault guarantees their work up to 50,000, but ... because of this, the boot of the axle shaft collapsed, and for almost half a year we have all been waiting for the dust boot, and now the entire axle shaft in assembly, because according to the warranty engineer, most likely the bearing after a hot and dusty summer PPC ... Thanks to the three-year warranty and service. I don’t praise them, I know that what we do with our hands is no good, so only children ... But these have never refused and are always so attentive. By the way, maintenance prices have been reduced this year from 11,200 to 7,300 (they are fixed at Renault, they don’t charge more than regulated).

Review Renault Koleos 2.5 l. 171 HP CVT (Renault Koleos) 2008

Hi all! I decided to write a little about my Gray Hippo))

Together with January 2010, we drove a little more than 16 thousand, recently passed the first MOT cost 7800r (including consumables). initially did not plan to buy something big and all the more all-wheel drive. When the question arose about changing cars (at that time he owned a VAZ 2105 1998 onwards), he began to look at a not very expensive medium-sized passenger car, but with a ground clearance of at least 17 cm. on the top five and on the working Octavia Tour, the clearance was just enough, I didn’t want to deprive myself of the opportunity to go to the country road and ride on the curb.

Not far from my house is an official Renault dealer, where I went at the end of December for a test drive of Logan, yes, yes, I planned to buy this chest on wheels, moreover, I still consider it one of the best offers on the market for unpretentious and simple workhorses. Having driven Logan, I was delighted with the suspension, sensitive brakes, bottomless trunk and spaciousness in the cabin (even compared to the Octavia). It was decided to wait for the reystyle version, which went on sale after the new year. But after NG I was lucky to earn a certain amount of money and the purchase budget has expanded to about 800k ... Here I have already scratched my head)) The more options - the more difficult the choice ...

Review Renault Koleos (Renault Koleos) 2008 Part 2

So, the continuation of the review about Koleos.

Since the first recall (April 2010), the car has run 17,000 km, 7,000 of them on the roads of Scandinavia, and passed TO-2. During this period of operation, the overall impression of Koleos has not changed, the car continues to delight. But there were also some minor shortcomings.

With a run of approximately 20,000 km. when driving over bumps in the cabin, a slight rattle appeared on the left rear. I found that the mechanism for adjusting the position of the rear seat back (most of it) rattles. Because of such nonsense, I didn’t go to the service, but during the planned maintenance I drew the attention of the master. By comparison (there were two more Koleos at the service), such a problem was revealed in all three cars when the seat back was in the lowest position. Disassembly and lubrication of the mechanism did not give anything, but when the backrest was moved one position up, the sound disappeared. So now I go.

I want to note that the shortcomings from the last review have not gone away, here I tried not to touch them anymore, but something may intersect.

1. Ergonomics.

Painting the central speaker on the dashboard with silver has a strong effect on the windshield ... I got used to it, but recently I planted a person who solved such a problem at home, he immediately said that it catches his eye, interferes. This means that designers and testers were not connected in any way during development, or this stage was simply not paid for.

  • The price was competitive with discounts

Review Renault Koleos (Renault Koleos) 2008

A 2008 Renault Koleos was purchased in March 2009. Color - olive, equipment - maximum. When choosing a car, I was guided mainly by the level of comfort, price-quality ratio and upcoming operating costs. The previous car was Focus-2, so some comparisons are inevitable.

Behavior on the road. The suspension, which is unusually comfortable for an SUV, sets you up for a calm driving style. Although, if you wish, you can be quick and smart - the motor allows. The downside of suspension comfort is a fairly noticeable roll in corners. In fact, a lot depends on the rubber. I have a summer one — a regular Hankook, a winter one — Bridgestone Ice Cruiser 5000 (a gift from the dealer when buying). Both tires are scolded, but personally, during normal everyday use, I can’t say anything bad. In one of the last reviews I read about the nervous behavior of Koleos when falling into large pits. In my opinion, it depends on the size of the pit and the speed of the hit - in other pits, even MAZ will flinch :) At least I did not notice anything like that. In general, driving performance is a definite plus, emotions are extremely positive. But in general, this car — for a calm, measured ride.

Salon. High-quality finishes, decent sound insulation, a huge number of hiding places, glove compartments and drawers, and many other bells and whistles. With my height of 182, there are no problems getting behind the wheel, and in general the dimensions of the cabin are at the level, let's say so - correspond to the size of the car. The panoramic roof is very pleasing, but it also has a minus - in frosts over 15 something constantly creaks in it. Of the other disadvantages of the cabin - extremely inconveniently located seat heating keys. Not only can you not find them without a habit, you occasionally touch them when getting into the car. At the same time, there is an indicator for turning on the heating of the passenger seat on the instrument panel, but alas, the driver's seat. Apparently, the fifth point of the driver should serve as an indicator :) But these are trifles. The main problem in the cabin for me is the climate control unit. When the ignition is turned off for more than 5 minutes, the climate settings are reset, after the ignition is turned on, the climate has to be set up again each time, and it also does not turn on immediately. This is annoying, especially after the Focus, where the climate readings were saved when the ignition was turned off. Appealed to the dealer — shrugged. I know that the same climate unit is on some Nissans. If anyone knows how to solve the problem - I will be very grateful. Visibility from the driver's seat is excellent, there was only one problem - the left wiper blade did not reach the pillar of 5 centimeters, which worsened visibility. When the brush leash was moved one position up, the uncleaned strip disappeared, and the brush ended up in the glass heating zone. I strongly recommend to other owners of Koleos. When you press the turn signal lever until it clicks, the turn signal blinks once - and in the Focus it blinked three, which is more convenient. There is no washer fluid level indicator, which always ends at the wrong time. However, such an indicator is generally rare.

Review Renault Renault koleos 2.5 CVT (2008 onwards) (Renault Koleos) 2008 Part 2

I wanted to make a report after a year of operation, but I could not resist when I read the members of the forum. It is often said on the forum that Koleos is the Korean auto industry. Well, why is he bad? All my friends who ride Koreans are very satisfied. But the main thing in the car is different. Controls and electronics from Renault, engine and chassis Nissan X-Trail. Everything has been tested over the years of operation and their reliability does not cause me doubts. All of the above are assembled together at a factory in Korea. The machine is not Korean, the factory in Korea. It's called globalization.

The machine is very satisfied. I don't regret buying. The car is worth its money. If anyone is going to buy - take the complete set. In general, the car is very practical, for me this is the main thing. Much has been done for the comfort and convenience of the driver and passengers. The main complaint of potential buyers is the body design. Not everyone is ready to accept this. In Russia, the main thing is the facade, and what is behind the facade is not important.

Anecdote on the topic. The woman underwent breast augmentation surgery. She comes to the doctor and says: "Doctor, something is wrong with my breasts." Doctor: "Let's see." After the examination: "You know, you were mistakenly sewn on *opus No. 8 instead of chest No. 3." Woman: "What should I do, doctor?" Doctor: "Something, wear it."

Strengths:

  • The car is made for people, their convenience and comfort

Weak sides:

For a car like Renault Koleos, competent maintenance and timely check of the proper condition of all components and assemblies is the key to many years of trouble-free service of the iron horse. Today we will tell you what you need to know about Renault Koleos transmissions, and what troubles the owner of this urban crossover with automatic transmission and CVT can expect.

Classics of the genre

It is well known that only three types of transmission are offered for Renault Koleos: manual transmission, automatic transmission, as well as a continuously variable variator. The mechanics are offered only for the poorest trim levels, but the automatic is the only choice for those who decide to purchase a Renault Koleos with a diesel engine.

Why is a continuously variable transmission never used with a diesel? The answer to this question is quite simple.

The fact is that a diesel engine has much more traction and torque than a gasoline-powered car. In this regard, a load is placed on the gearbox, which the variator, which has such a complex device and many components, is no longer able to withstand, and permanent repairs are simply impractical.

It was on the basis of these considerations that the manufacturer Renault Koleos made a wise decision and began to install automatic transmissions with a classic torque converter on their cars. Such a transmission has six steps, and therefore perfectly "gets along" with a two-liter turbodiesel and easily transfers the loads that a high-torque and powerful engine gives.

However, an automatic transmission is an extremely complex device, which is why the question arises about the reliability of such gearboxes. The manufacturer claims that a car with automatic transmission is able to drive up to 300 thousand kilometers without any intervention, but when checking, everything turns out to be not so simple.

So, often the torque converter fails, as evidenced by the characteristic buzz in the area of \u200b\u200bthe automatic transmission housing, as well as jerks when driving at a constant speed - the car twitches noticeably during acceleration.

To avoid such breakdowns, qualified craftsmen recommend changing the oil in the automatic transmission at least once every few years, as well as cleaning the storage magnet filters from metal chips. This will extend the life of the metal bearings and prevent premature failure of the automatic transmission.

CVT

In addition to the classic automatic transmission, which is used exclusively in tandem with diesel Renault Koleos, a variator is widely used, which has a more complex but perfect device and is designed to improve the acceleration and dynamic characteristics of Koleos, as well as get rid of annoying jerks and jerks when switching gears. , as in the case of automatic transmission.

On Renault Koleos, this type of gearbox has a V-belt type. This means that in addition to the two shafts that connect the wheels and the engine, a system of belts is involved in the gearbox, which contribute to the synchronous rotation of the drive and driven shafts.

This type of transmission is used exclusively on 2.5 engines that do not have a turbocharger and high torque. In this way, excessive loads will not be placed on the transmission device, and the variator will be able to work longer and not wear out too quickly.

A separate word deserves the question of the resource of the variator. According to the manufacturer, such a device can do without repair at least 300 thousand kilometers. However, it often turns out that the CVT fails prematurely. This is due to the aggressive driving of Renault Koleos and excessive loads in the form of hauling trailers.

Typical malfunctions

The variator, which is installed on Koleos, has a sufficiently high reliability, which allows it to work for a long time in tandem with the 2.5 engine and does not require repair. However, it is not possible to do without problems at all, and Renault Koleos often gets into trouble on long runs.

The most common problems are caused by overheating of the oil and, as a result, the failure of Koleos. Repair in this case cannot be avoided, but the reason for such a problem is clear to the naked eye. The fact is that the variator constantly operates at high speed and heats up quite strongly due to friction.

The role of the cooling system on Koleos is an additional radiator, which provides cold air access to the heated metal.

Over time, the radiator cells become clogged with dust and foreign particles, and air access stops. As a repair, a complete cleaning of the ventilation grid and the replacement of failed components are proposed.

Another typical problem that Renault Koleos owners often face is jerks during acceleration and movement. The car shakes noticeably while driving. This means only one thing: the Renault Koleos torque converter has failed, the repair of which, as a rule, costs a lot of money or is completely impossible. In this regard, it is recommended to contact the dealer or a specialized service. This will help pinpoint the exact reason Koleos is twitching while moving.

Also, during the operation of a transmission of this type on Renault Koleos, extraneous noises often occur that require immediate repair. As a rule, this is expressed in the appearance of a noticeable hum when a sufficient speed is reached. Moreover, with an increase in speed, the hum not only does not disappear, but also intensifies, and in some cases begins to be accompanied by vibration and metal shocks.

Most likely, the bearings are out of order and need immediate repair or replacement. Such repairs on Renault Koleos will be expensive, the procedure includes a complete disassembly of the body and is a very laborious process.

Summing up

The variator, which is equipped with Renault Koleos, is a modern device with high reliability. Unfortunately, any mechanism wears out over time, and problems can rarely be avoided at high mileage. In this regard, it is important to make timely transmission diagnostics, thanks to which it will be possible to predict the need for early maintenance and repair.
