The protection of the driver and passengers of the vehicle in the event of a collision is provided by motion-stabilizing units - airbags and seat belts. Timely operation of the latter helps to prevent the movement of a person inside the car, minimizes various injuries and damages after a traffic accident. As a result of an accident, security systems can be blocked or completely fail, so a certain demand in the auto services market has received professional unlocking of seat belts.

To quickly get help from qualified and conscientious craftsmen, a visitor can use our website and leave a request for unlocking seat belts. Potential performers will see the motorist's request in their feed and respond to the request within one day.

Unlocking seat belts. Relevance of the service

At the moment of a collision or during a sharp braking of the car, a load is placed on the seat belt mechanism, which causes the pyrotechnic cartridge to fire. The explosion of the substance contained in the device causes the tension and blocking of the belt, which makes it possible to mitigate the collision of the driver with the airbags. The squib is designed for single use, so it may need to be replaced later.

Drivers who have been involved in a road traffic accident often face additional difficulties when trying to unlock their seat belts after an accident. The solution is to completely replace the system.

The normal condition of the belts is an indispensable condition for safe road traffic. The unlocking of seat belts must be carried out by experienced professionals capable of:

  • carry out operational diagnostics of the system, establish the type of malfunction;
  • provide detailed advice on possible repair methods;
  • help with the selection of the required parts;
  • carry out quality repairs to ensure reliable and trouble-free operation of the system.

Attempts to disassemble and restore the mechanism responsible for the automatic belt lock yourself can lead to significant waste of time and money. Health consequences are also possible: the technology is based on the chemical reaction of a microexplosion, and if an element of the system did not work before, then it can work during repairs

How are the seat belts unlocked?

Belts of different machines may vary in design, but the principle of operation of the system remains the same. The restoration of the mechanism is carried out according to similar schemes, however, different brands of machines may have individual design features that prevent universal repair work.

Unlocking the seat belts involves dismantling the mechanism of the device, so it may be necessary to remove the vehicle seats before proceeding further.

During the main work on unlocking the seat belts, the following is carried out:

  1. the return spring is dismantled;
  2. the body of the mechanism of the pyrotechnic cartridge is removed;
  3. deformed copper wire cuttings located in a nylon sleeve are eliminated;
  4. The components of the system are assembled in the reverse order.

High-quality restoration measures allow you to fully restore the performance of car seat belts. A low-skilled intervention will cause the system to work incorrectly if the accident repeats.

Professional unlocking of seat belts. Order service

Turning to a technical center for help, a motorist is invariably interested in getting the best offer from an honest contractor. Finding competent and conscientious specialists, however, can be difficult: reviews on the Internet are not always true, and advice from other acquaintances can have the opposite effect.

A modern solution to the problem is a site - an online auction of automotive services, where the driver can quickly find the necessary contractor in any city in Russia. The site works according to the following principle:

  • the visitor applies for unlocking the seat belts;
  • specialists respond to the application, naming prices and terms of work;
  • the visitor chooses the best performer from the list of responding masters.

Everything is very fast and simple. Applying is free..

Let's hope that you will never need information on how to unlock your seat belt after an accident. Well, or that the accident will be completely trifling. However, they say that information is never superfluous, so it will not hurt to delve into this technical issue. When the belt is loaded, perceived by the mechanism as a result of an accident, the squib built into it is activated. By the way, such a reaction may be too sharp braking. So, even if you happily avoid an accident, you may encounter a jammed belt. In some models, the belts cannot be dismantled, so you just have to cut them off and put on new ones. But on most cars, safety is still subject to restoration. It is also worth considering that a number of models and brands in the event of an accident shoots both squibs in front. If there was no passenger next to you, still check the operation of the adjacent belt. How to unlock your seat belt after an accident depends on its design. The basic techniques will be similar, but there are individual features. Option 1: squib with sleeve

  • Whatever design your belt is, first you need to remove it. Usually, dismantling does not cause difficulties, although on a number of models it is impossible without first removing the seat;
  • On the removed mechanism, a whitish return spring with a slot in the center of the case appears on top. You need to insert a narrow plate into it, which will prevent the spring from unwinding - otherwise the mechanism can be immediately thrown away;
  • 3 bolts are carefully unscrewed from the spring housing, and it is set aside. In no case should you pull out the belt or twist something extra: if the twisting force of the spring is violated, it will work unpredictably in the future;
  • In access is the shell of the squib. It is fixed, as a rule, with 3 screws, but on some models there can be up to 5. The fasteners are unscrewed, the squib is removed;
  • The protective cover must be removed from the triggered device. There are a lot of bolts, on average - 21 pieces, but there may be more. Moreover, the cover also sits on the sealant, so to remove it you will need to use a screwdriver as a lever;
  • A plastic sleeve is hidden under the cover, and in it are 6 pieces of copper wire. They served as a stopper, jamming the belt winding axis. Scraps are pulled out and thrown out; the bushing itself is most often also deformed, but it is left in place, since its participation in axle alignment and belt support is required;
  • The squib plate is put in place. You can not screw in all the dozens of bolts, a third is enough for the cover to hold securely;
  • The belt winds up a little on the spring - in the event of an accident, it is somewhat loosened. It will take from 2 to 4 turns of winding, depending on how much the return has weakened;
  • The spring mechanism is put in place, screwed well, and only after that the locking plate is pulled out;
  • After installing the belt mechanism in its rightful place, its performance is checked. The strap can only be activated in a vertical position, so its placement must be adjusted.

Option 2: gear rack
  • When dismantling the triggered element, a toothed rack is detected. Unlike the nylon bushing of the previous design, it is permanently damaged, so it is pulled out and thrown away, and a new one is installed in its place. This part, fortunately, is sold in auto shops, although you may have to look;
  • Next comes the gear. It does not break when the belt is triggered, so it remains in the same place. But around it will be a certain amount of destroyed plastic. It must be carefully removed from the cartridge so that the fragments do not interfere with its work in the future.
Everything is going in the opposite direction and in compliance with the rules already mentioned: tightening the belt, checking the effectiveness, etc. Think carefully about purchasing new personal safety equipment, since it is possible to unlock the seat belt after an accident, but it will not always be possible to achieve its precise work. That is, on the same Mitsubishi Lancer after replacing the rack, the stopper will work in the same mode, but the spring is already weakened and not quite reliable. And on models where the squib includes a sleeve, its deformation (and the lack of the possibility of replacement) raises strong doubts about the correct operation. Nevertheless, such devices are conceived by manufacturers as disposable. Of course, the belief that you are not in danger of an accident is always present, but reinsurance still adds confidence in dense traffic.

Hello, please help, I have the following question! Recently my wife got into a car accident. Nothing serious, but the belts worked and blocked. So what's now? How to unlock seat belts after an accident - maybe there is some video? Valery.

Hello Valery. Sometimes the seat belts can jam after an accident. The design of some vehicles sometimes does not allow the removal of belts. Therefore, in some cases, after an accident, they simply have to be cut off and replaced with new ones. But in most cases, the seat belts can be unlocked. We will tell you about several ways. For greater clarity, a video will be provided at the end of the article so that you can understand how the live unlocking steps take place.

Method 1

  1. First you need to dismantle the seat belt device itself. As a rule, this procedure does not cause any special problems. But sometimes for this you need to dismantle the seats. So, having done this, you can remove the strap itself with the mechanism.
  2. The photo shows the mechanism of the element. You need to get to the squib device. It was this mechanism that performed the lock, so you will need to work directly with it.
  3. Now you can see the return spring on the mechanism itself. You can see a small incision on her body. A suitable plate must be inserted into this incision. Having done this, the spring device can be dismantled by unscrewing the screws on which it is attached. In some cases, the spring may fly out, so unscrew the screws carefully. Carefully remove the spring and put it separately so as not to lose it. Please note that at this moment the belt must not be dismantled or twisted. So you can break its position, as a result of which the strap can simply be thrown away.
  4. Next, you will see the shell of the squib, which is attached to the strap with a few bolts. As a rule, there are no more than three of them, but depending on the model of the vehicle, their number may vary. Unscrew the bolts with an asterisk wrench and remove the squib.
  5. Next, the cover of the mechanism that worked during the accident must be unwound. This mechanism is attached to the body of the squib with several dozen screws. The average number is 21. Please note that in addition to the fact that the cover is held on by screws, it is also attached with a layer of sealant. Therefore, a screwdriver can also be used to dismantle it.
  6. After removing the cover, you will be able to see a nylon sleeve, in which six copper scraps are installed. It was these pieces of wire that jammed the very axis that blocked the strap. These copper pieces should be dismantled. As you can see, the nylon sleeve itself is also deformed. However, you will still need it to maintain and center the element, so we will leave it.
  7. Next, the squib plate can be installed in place. All the bolts can be left unscrewed: a few in the center and on the sides will be enough to hold the plate.
  8. After that, the squib mechanism itself can be screwed back to the strap body. Here, remember that before installing the device with a spring, the strap should be slightly wound up with your hands. Three or four turns will be enough, as the spring is a little loose. It is in order for her effort to be large that the mechanism should be wound up.
  9. After that, carefully install the spring in place. Then you should screw and dismantle the plate that held the spring. This completes the process of unlocking the seat belts after an accident. Try how the device works. In some cases, it will only work in a vertical position, so check the functionality after installation.

Method 2

The following method for unlocking with a seat belt after an accident is relevant for many passenger cars. It does not differ much from the first method, but there are fundamental differences that must be mentioned. The Mitsubishi Lancer passenger car will be considered as an example. So, let's begin:

  1. First you need to dismantle and carefully disassemble the strap tensioner. The spring must be fixed so that it does not unwind.
  2. After that, the mechanism of the squib should be disassembled. By doing this, you will see the gear rack, which has already failed. It can be thrown away. If you have a new toothed rack available, then it can be replaced with the one that broke during the locking of the belts. It is advisable to purchase it in advance at an automotive store.
  3. After dismantling the gear of the device, you will see some debris from plastic parts. All this can be thrown away, in the future these elements will not be needed.
  4. All further assembly must be done in reverse order. If the spring of the mechanism has been unwound, then the strap itself will need to be wound with your own hands. Then the spring mechanism can be installed in place.

As you can see, the procedure itself is practically the same. In the second case, the process of unlocking the mechanism of a lighter design is considered. You can watch the video below for more details on the unlocking process. Please also note that not all vehicles are equipped with the ability to unlock the strap device.

This is because some manufacturers are categorically against the reuse of blocked elements after repair. And this makes sense: after all, this component serves for safety, so some car manufacturers do not recommend experimenting in such cases. That is why sometimes you can see a small compact knife on the straps themselves. It is designed to cut the seat belts after an accident.

Also keep in mind that if after disassembling and assembling the devices there are a lot of “extra” parts left, then think three times - is it worth reusing this belt? After all, you no longer have a guarantee that it will function properly. Safety is always paramount, so it's best not to skimp, but to purchase new seat belts if necessary. Well, or entrust this matter to specialists who are guaranteed to be able to do everything right for money.

First I wanted to contact the official dealer. After comparing prices for services from official and unofficial, I made a couple of calls ... I stopped at the Airbag workshop in the garage. First of all, we were attracted by affordable prices, and communication with a representative of the workshop by phone somehow arranged. I was not disappointed in the quality of the work, I received my car in three days, the cost of the work pleased me. The officials would have come out significantly more expensive, and you can’t always vouch for the quality there.

The main purpose of seat belts is to protect all occupants of a moving vehicle from injury that may occur.

Ways to unlock seat belts.

Why are the belts blocked?

Often this happens after an accident. Undoubtedly, they work and not only from injuries, but also save lives, but they themselves become unusable - more precisely, they are blocked. Accordingly, a person will not be able to detach the strap. So, what to do if the seat belt does not retract? This is what we will talk about in this article, as well as tell you how to unlock it and repair it yourself.

Can seat belts be restored after an accident?

Almost all car owners after getting into a traffic accident face the problem of unlocking seat belts. Note that the device can also jam when (taking it as an accident). In some cars, after the seat belts are jammed, there is no other way out than to cut the belt and free up (that is, they cannot be repaired, but only replaced). But these are extremely rare cases. In most vehicles, such products are subject to repair, respectively, to restoration. Note that in a collision with other TK, as a rule, two squibs are fired at once (that is, the belts of both the driver and the passenger are blocked). If during the accident you were alone in the car and your belt got stuck, we recommend that you also check the belt, which should be on the front seat.

Other Causes of Seat Belt Failure

In addition to an accident, blocking can occur for the following reasons:

  • the belt does not retract due to wear of the roller device or too much;
  • due to natural wear of products;
  • jammed during an attempt to fasten it or after disconnecting it;
  • coil lock failed.

How to unlock

Naturally, if the belt is jammed, it is best to turn to professionals. But, if you do not have enough money, but have a lot of free time, and also if you want to learn something new, you can perform this operation yourself. There are several options that we will now share with you.

Igniter with sleeve

  1. The entire seat belt mechanism must first be removed. In most cases, this does not cause problems. Although in certain cars, to dismantle this device, you will have to remove the front wheels.
  2. Now we are looking for access to the squib (it is he who blocks the entire system).
  3. With the mechanism in hand, look for the spring. Carefully unscrew all the bolts to get it out (sometimes it can fly out).
  4. Next, remove the belt and, without twisting it, set it aside.
  5. After you will see the shell of the squib, which must be removed from the belt (use an asterisk key for this purpose).
  6. The next step: you need to remove the cover of the device (it can be fixed not only with bolts, but also with sealant). In this case, we recommend using a clerical knife.
  7. In front of you will be a nylon bushing with six copper pieces (they are the ones that block the belt).
  8. These pieces need to be removed. In this case, do not touch the bushing.
  9. Install the squib in place and screw this device into the mechanism housing. It is important to tighten the belt with your own hands before installing it in place - a few circles will be enough. Why do it? After such manipulations, the spring will weaken a little.
  10. Install the spring in its place and fix.
  11. Work completed. If the strap still does not work, it will have to be replaced.

Rack

Using the ribbed rack, it will be possible to release the belts if they are jammed after a traffic accident.

  1. Dismantle the mechanism, and then disassemble the tensioner.
  2. Disassemble the squib.
  3. Next you will see the gear rack (they are already broken, remove it and replace with a new one).
  4. Your next steps: after dismantling the gear, you will notice a lot of debris and dirt - they need to be removed.
  5. Reassemble in reverse order of dismantling.

How to change the strap

In the event that the repair did not lead to the desired results, the seat belt will still have to be replaced. And how to do it yourself, read below.

  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal first.
  • Using a wrench, unscrew the bolt that secures the belt in its lower part (located near the chair).
  • Next, remove the sleeve (this operation will allow you to slightly move the strap to the side so that it does not interfere with the next steps);
  • Remove the upper as well as the lower "plastics" located on the rack.
  • Then you need to dismantle the top mount.
  • Move the seat as far back as possible to remove the lower strap mechanism.
  • After removing the old belt, install the new one in reverse order.

Note that the replacement on the passenger seat is carried out in the same way as on the driver's side. Of course, it is better if these operations are performed by professionals in specialized car workshops, who have many years of experience behind them. Before repairing or changing straps with your own hands, think carefully about whether it will be beneficial for you. Without experience, you can spend quite a lot of time on this operation (think, maybe instead of “turning” the car, you should work and not only “recapture” the money spent on repairs, but also earn extra money). In the worst case, you can screw up an already unpleasant situation even more, which in the end will cost quite a lot.
