There is a lot of mistrust of Chinese cars, especially among Russian buyers, but Russia is one of the most profitable markets for East Asia. The manufacturer is well aware that there is no point in climbing into the premium segment, so in 2011 he created a spacious sedan, which is the flagship in the budget segment - Geely SC7.
The model was shown at a motor show in Beijing, an exhibition was organized for Russian buyers in Moscow. Now the model is assembled in Belarus at the BelGee plant.
Appearance
The design of such cars is strange, you should definitely not expect great attractiveness. Despite this appearance at a decent level, the car is definitely not ugly, it is ordinary.
The muzzle received a shaped headlight shape already with a lens inside. The hood of the car with a stamping line in the style of old Mercedes encircles the grille. The bumper is as simple as possible, there is nothing special about it. Pleased with the presence of foglights in the form of narrow petals.
The side of the SC7 is hardly surprising at all. A slight swelling of the front wheel arch, a small relief at the bottom, large rear-view mirrors with a repeater and that's it. R16 alloy wheels look good. At the back there is a long trunk lid, a chrome-plated opening handle and large lights, also made in the style of other models of the company. The rear bumper is also as simple as possible, it clearly shows the parking sensors that are not painted in body color.
Appearance is not chic, but quite acceptable. The model is not worse than its competitors, especially in terms of the year of manufacture. There are no annoying unusual elements.

The quality of the materials is far from the best, this is a budget segment, so ordinary fabric and cheap plastic are used here, there is velor in some places. 5 people can fit here, they will be located on simple chairs, there is enough free space.
The usual 4-spoke steering column, it can have two buttons in some versions. The instrument panel is as simple as possible, but you don’t need to understand it, everything is clear even to a person who got into a car for the first time. The tidy consists of two large dial gauges, a small on-board computer and a lot of information lights.
The center console of Geely SK7 may be different, depending on the year of manufacture. If the model is old, then the simplest radio tape recorder with a small monitor and buttons will be located on top. Below is the air conditioning unit with two washers and an information monitor. The 2013 model will get a more modern radio and a completely redesigned climate unit, also looking more modern.
In the cabin there is not a small armrest, a comfortable large gear selector, a roomy glove box. The cigarette lighter is located next to the checkpoint, it is not very conveniently placed, it is usually hidden somewhere, but here it looks a little ridiculous.
In principle, one should not expect anything else from a budget Chinese. The salon is worthy for such an amount, but still some decisions are confusing. But pleases the incredible size of the Geely SC7 trunk of 560 liters, for family people it is very good, in 2013 the volume increased to 670.

Geely almost never offers its buyer a choice of motors, only one is always installed. The unit is called JL4G18, its volume is 1.8 liters and it produces 127 horsepower and 172 H * m of torque. Such a return is not immediately available, the motor will have to turn at least 4200 rpm.
A 16-valve internal combustion engine works in conjunction with a 5-speed manual. This rejects some buyers, since now everyone wants an automatic machine due to traffic jams in big cities. But the reliability of the box will be simply stunning, since there is nothing to break there - a simple design. The same goes for the SC7 engine.
Front-wheel drive and, surprisingly, the manufacturer claims that the sedan accelerates to hundreds in 7.5 seconds. In practice, the dynamics will be somewhat worse, but the question is how much. The maximum speed is limited to 185 km / h. The motor complies with Euro-4 standards and buyers are most interested in its consumption. In the combined cycle, the unit consumes only 7.5 liters of AI-92, which, in principle, is not much.
The undercarriage is a MacPherson strut at the front and a torsion bar at the rear. It is difficult to say what it is in terms of reliability, but at first it gives good comfort. The brake system is disc, fully ventilated, ABS and EBD are present. A conventional hydraulic booster helps in the management.
Price
The car was discontinued, but when it was sold new, the cost of the Comfort package was 450,000 rubles. In the secondary market, at least in Russia, Geely SC7 is not for sale, while the owners are present.
Modern Chinese cars have become much better than their predecessors. The build quality has improved a lot, and the quality of the materials is driven by the price. The model is one of the most affordable, while not disappointing in terms of price / quality ratio. Despite our praise, it is worth remembering that the car is still cheap and attention to it will be required, it will need to be monitored and looked after.
