When to Adjust

First you need to measure the full pedal travel. To do this, take a ruler and measure the distance from the pedal pad (without pressing the pedal) to the steering wheel. Then do the same measurements on the pedal squeezed out to the stop. The difference in readings should not differ from 130-135 mm. Otherwise, you need to adjust the pedal stroke.

How to regulate

It is necessary to loosen the lock nut on the pedal assembly with one key by 13, holding the adjusting bolt with the second key. Then, turning the bolt, adjust the pedal travel and tighten the locknut.

Adjusting the free play of the clutch pedal Daewoo Nexia

When to Adjust

First you need to determine the free play of the pedal. To do this, you need to measure the distance from the normal position of the pedal to the position in which the pedal is pressed with force. The normal free travel of the clutch pedal is 8-15 mm. If the measurement results differ, you need to adjust.

How to regulate

The free travel of the clutch pedal is regulated by a rod. It is necessary to loosen the lock nut by 12 and unscrew (reduces free play) or tighten (increases free play) the stem. After tightening the locknut, check the free play.

In every car that comes off the assembly line, all nodes are fully configured and work as they should. But gradually, during operation, some problems appear. Some need to be addressed immediately, others can "wait a bit." Daewoo Nexia clutch adjustment is just the case when it is impossible to pull, and adjustment work is urgently required.

Before starting work, it is necessary to diagnose the breakdown. Naturally, if you have an obvious malfunction that is noticeable, then there is no need for such actions. Obvious manifestations of a breakdown of the clutch system:

  • heavy shifting;
  • clutch grinding;
  • shocks when turned on;
  • transmission knockout.

How to adjust?

It is not necessary to have the skills of a highly qualified auto mechanic to adjust the clutch, because this process is quite simple. It is enough just to carefully study the material recommended by us and watch the video.

Tools

Step-by-step instruction

Let's consider two options. This is the adjustment of the full and free travel of the pedal.

Pedal Full Stroke Adjustment:

Pedal free play adjustment:

The whole process is quite simple and does not take much time, and the result will be a comfortable ride and good condition of the clutch units.

For long-term and trouble-free operation of the clutch system, the following rules must be observed. You can not keep your foot on the clutch for a long time. Usually this manner is acquired at the very beginning of learning to drive a motor vehicle due to the fear of not having time to disengage the clutch in time before stopping the car. Not taking into account the constant tension of the foot, which is located above the pedal, the pedal is, although slightly, but pressed, and at the same time, the driven disk gradually wears out. The release bearing, although it provides for operation in rotation, when the pedal is depressed, is under greater load, which significantly reduces its resource. It is strongly not recommended to disconnect the clutch for a long time (for example, during parking in traffic jams). If you are going to park for a long time, shift the gearshift lever to neutral and depress the clutch.

The slippage of the Daewoo Nexia clutch system is easily set according to the tachometer readings. If, while driving, when the gas pedal is pressed, the speed rises rapidly, and then gradually decreases and the car accelerates, then the clutch system needs immediate repair.

Clutch drive adjustment

General scheme for adjusting the clutch cable

The correct adjustment of the clutch actuator is checked by measuring the stroke of its pedal. After replacing the drive cable, its shrinkage is carried out for at least thirty depressing the clutch pedal.

1. Make sure that nothing has fallen under the clutch pedal, then measure the distance of the central part of its lining to the base of the steering wheel (the pedal must be fully released), now depress the pedal to the stop and repeat the measurement. 2. Subtract the first measurement from the second measurement to determine the pedal travel. Compare the resulting value with the requirements of the Specifications. Make appropriate adjustments if necessary (see below). 3. Adjustment of a driving cable is made by releasing an adjusting rayki on the end of a cable turned to transmission (the General scheme of adjustment of a cable of a drive of coupling see an illustration). On some models access to a lock nut is limited in connection with what it is necessary to remove previously a sleeve of an air cleaner or components of its casing (see the Head of the Power supply system and release).

4. In the engine compartment, loosen the locknut on the end of the clutch cable facing the transmission. Correct the position of the adjusting nut, then depress the clutch pedal ten times and repeat the measurement of its travel. Continue in the same order until you achieve the desired result.

5. Make sure that the amount of pedal free play (see illustration General scheme for adjusting the clutch cable) does not exceed 60 mm, for which measure the distance from the released pedal pad to the steering wheel base, then lift the pedal and repeat the measurement; subtract the result of the second measurement from the result of the first measurement. 6. When finished adjusting, tighten the jam nut on the end of the drive cable. Establish the components of an air cleaner which acted in film for the purpose of providing access (the Head of the Power supply system and release see).

Adjusting the Daewoo Nexia clutch with your own hands is not a difficult process and is quite feasible for every motorist.

You will need to adjust the Nexia clutch for certain causes of malfunctions, namely, the clutch pedal travel has decreased, which means that you will have to repair the clutch drive, warping of the driven disk means that you need to replace the part. And much more you can find in our article.

DAEWOO NEXIA Clutch Device

On cars DAEWOO NEXIA install dry single plate clutch with central diaphragm spring. DAEWOO NEXIA Clutch Pressure Plate mounted in a steel stamped casing 3, attached with six bolts to the flywheel 1 of the engine.

The driven disk 2 is mounted on the splines of the input shaft of the gearbox and is clamped by a diaphragm spring 4 between the flywheel and the pressure disk. Hydraulic clutch release DAEWOO NEXIA consists of a master cylinder installed in the engine compartment, a slave cylinder located on the clutch housing, a pipeline including a tube and a hose, as well as a clutch pedal, the bracket of which is attached with nuts to the front end shield of the body.

The pedal returns to its original position by a spring. The rod 4 of the master cylinder of the clutch release drive is connected to the pedal 1 by a finger 2 inserted into the hole of the pedal and fork 3 of the rod and secured from axial movement by a spring latch. The master cylinder is connected by a hose to a reservoir mounted on the front end shield.

The hydraulic clutch release uses brake fluid. Adjustment of the clutch release actuator in operation is provided. In order to clutch lasted a long time and trouble-free, do not constantly keep your foot on the clutch pedal.

This bad habit is often acquired while learning to drive in driving schools for fear of not having time to turn off the clutch while the car is stopped. In addition to the rapid fatigue of the foot, which is all the time above the pedal, the clutch is at least a little, but squeezed out, and the driven disk slips and wears out.

In addition, despite the fact that the release bearing is designed to operate in constant rotation mode, when the pedal is pressed even slightly, it is under increased load, and its life is reduced. For the same reason, it is not recommended to keep the clutch off for a long time (for example, in traffic jams).

If you do not have to move immediately, it is better to move the gear lever to neutral and release the pedal. DAEWOO NEXIA Clutch Slip can be easily determined by the tachometer. If, while driving, with a sharp press on the accelerator pedal, the speed rises sharply, and then decreases slightly and the car starts to accelerate, then the clutch must be repaired.

CHECKING AND ADJUSTING THE CLUTCH RELEASE PEDAL STROKE DAEWOO NEXIA

DAEWOO NEXIA clutch pedal travel check to assess its technical condition and to determine the reasons for deviations from normal operation (the clutch "leads", "slips", etc. To check and adjust the clutch pedal stroke of the DAEWOO NEXIA car, you will need: keys "for 12", "for 13" ( two), screwdriver, ruler.

  1. To measure the full travel of the clutch pedal, measure the distance from the pedal pad to the steering wheel without depressing the pedal.
  2. Press the pedal all the way down and repeat the measurement.

The difference between the two measurements is the full travel of the clutch pedal, the nominal value of which is 130-136 mm. If the pedal travel differs from the nominal, it must be adjusted.

3. On vehicles with hydraulic drive, loosen the lock nut on the pedal assembly with key A and turn the bolt with key B to achieve the required pedal full travel.

  1. To determine the clutch pedal free play, measure the distance from the initial position of the pedal to the position where an increase in resistance is felt when the pedal is depressed by hand.

The nominal free travel of the clutch pedal is 8-15 mm. If pedal free play differs from nominal, adjust clutch master cylinder rod length.

  1. Loosen the locknut to adjust the stem length. (For clarity, the loosening of the locknut is shown on the removed clutch master cylinder. It is not necessary to remove the master cylinder). Close the valve and ask to release the clutch pedal. Repeat steps 3 and 4 several times until fluid begins to exit the hose without air bubbles.
  2. Rotating the rod by the flat (shown by the arrow), adjust the pedal free play.
  3. Tighten the stem yoke jam nut and check for full pedal travel. Repeat the full stroke adjustment if necessary.

On cars with a mechanical drive for disengaging the clutch, remove the spring clip and by turning nut A on the threaded end of the drive cable, achieve the required full travel of the clutch pedal. To increase the total travel of the clutch pedal, unscrew nut A, and to decrease it, tighten it. Install the spring clip and check the full travel of the pedal.

  1. Check the moment of engagement of the clutch when the pedal is released. With the engine idling, press the pedal all the way down, engage first gear and slowly release the pedal, trying to determine at what distance the pedal pad from the floor the car starts to move. If the clutch and its engagement drive are in a normal state, this distance should be 30-40 mm. If the pedal travel before engaging the clutch is less than or greater than the specified value, check the following:

- free travel of the clutch pedal. Adjust if necessary;

- Full stroke of the clutch pedal. If the stroke is less than permissible, adjust it and check the condition of the clutch release drive;

- the presence of air in the hydraulic clutch release. If necessary, pump the hydraulic drive.

Nexia clutch adjustment

Initially, the clutch on my Nexia was poorly adjusted: the clutch was not squeezed out, it worked at the very bottom, sometimes the gears turned on with a rattle and crunch. It was decided to independently adjust the clutch.

Full stroke of the clutch pedal adjustable with a bolt, but for this you need to unlock the nut (with a white mark). My clutch stroke was within acceptable limits, so I did not touch anything

Clutch pedal free play regulated by a stem on the pedal. We loosen the nut to “12” to adjust the stroke of the stem: unscrewing the stem leads to a decrease in free play, screwing it in increases the free play of the clutch pedal. The stem is normally adjusted by hand, but you can use the key to “6”. In my case, the free play of the clutch was about 15 mm, i.e. the upper limit, so I twisted the stem several times, each time checking the clutch operation and free play. The result of the adjustment: the reverse gear now always engages easily and without a crunch, because the clutch began to grab a little higher and the clutch is squeezed out completely. The rest of the gears also began to turn on easily, literally with one finger.

Replacing the release bearing Daewoo Nexia

Replacing the release bearing Daewoo Nexia (Daewoo Nexia) with your own hands is a rather difficult operation and without skills in auto repair it will be very difficult to do, since such a procedure requires the removal of the gearbox of the Nexia car, and this is not very easy, but having a video guide, the process will go much more confidently and faster . See and remove the box, change the clutch or gearbox release bearing with us.

To carry out the procedure, you will need a solid set of tools: keys, sets of heads, a hammer, a mount, a jack, and with all this, you need an inspection hole or overpass. You will also need the skills to change the oil in the Daewoo Nexia box, you will have to remove the drive (CV joint). Remove the box and change the clutch release with an assistant.

Daewoo Nexia clutch replacement

The design features of the Daewoo Nexia car clutch The Daewoo Nexia car provides for the installation of a dry clutch, with one disc and a diaphragm spring. with six bolts. The driven disk is placed on the splines of the input box shaft.

It is clamped between the basket and the flywheel by a diaphragm spring. The hydraulic drive for disengaging the clutch includes: the clutch master cylinder, the slave cylinder located on the clutch housing, the tube, the hose, the clutch pedal and the bracket. A spring is used to return the position of the clutch pedal to its original position. If one of the parts of the clutch assembly fails, it is recommended that all elements be replaced at the same time.

This is relevant because the work associated with replacing the clutch is very time consuming, there is some wear on undamaged parts and it may be necessary to re-disassemble and replace elements that fail prematurely. To increase clutch life, try to avoid keeping your foot on the clutch pedal. This habit is typical for novice drivers who have just graduated from a driving school, they worry that they will not have time to turn off the clutch when stopping.

In this position, the foot will tire quickly, and the clutch will be slightly depressed, which will lead to slipping and wear. Do not hold the clutch pedal for a long time, it will be optimal to turn on the neutral gear and release the pedal. If there is clutch slip, it is easily determined by the tachometer readings.

During movement, if you press the gas pedal hard, while the speed will increase, then decrease slightly, the car will start to accelerate, then the clutch needs to be repaired or replaced. Possible clutch malfunctions: Increased noise level when it is turned on. not completely, slipping begins. The clutch does not turn off completely, which means it is leading. How to replace the clutch on a Daewoo Nexia with your own hands? Remove the gearbox. If, when performing work, you decide that the pressure plate or, it is also called the basket, does not require replacement and may remain the same, then you should mark the position of the disc housing relative to the flywheel. You will need this information when reinstalling and will allow you to maintain balance. Take a mounting spatula or screwdriver and fix the flywheel from turning.

Remove all bolts securing the clutch cover to the flywheel. Unscrewing the bolts should be done evenly, alternately, along the entire diameter of the pressure plate, wrap the wrench around each bolt twice.

Remove the clutch basket from the flywheel along with the driven disc, hold the disc. Before installing a new clutch kit, make sure that the driven disc moves easily along the splines on the input box shaft. If seizing or other signs of failure are found, then the defective parts will need to be replaced. You will need a refractory grease.

Apply it to the hub splines of the clutch disc. When installing a new clutch, take a mandrel and use it to put on the driven disc, the next link is the clutch basket. Align the marks that were made before removal, install the clutch basket and screw back the bolts that secure the casing to the flywheel.

The bolts are tightened with a torque of 15 Nm, just as evenly as when unscrewing. Make one turn of the wrench for each bolt, moving in turn along the entire diameter.Important! To center the clutch, you will need to make a mandrel.

Install the clutch disc, with friction linings, in such a position that the phrase "FLYWHEEL SIDE" is towards the flywheel. The disc hub, part of which protrudes, at this time will be facing the diaphragm spring of the clutch cover. Remove the mandrel and you can proceed with the installation of the gearbox. All replacement steps are completed, now you just have to check how the new clutch works. How to check the operation of the replaced clutch and adjust the pedal travel? In order to assess the technical condition and efficiency of the clutch, it is necessary to check the clutch pedal travel.

To do this, you need: a ruler, a screwdriver and two keys for 13 and 12. To measure the full travel of the pedal, you need to measure the distance between the clutch pedal pad and the steering wheel, while the pedal is not pressed. Next, you should squeeze the clutch all the way and re-measure. The difference that will turn out between the two measurement digits and will be the designation of the full pedal travel is considered to be 130-136 mm nominal.

If the value that you got is different from the nominal value, then adjustment will be required. To determine the value of the free play of the pedal, it is necessary to measure the distance from the initial position of the pedal before resistance is felt when pressing it. The nominal value is considered to be 8-15 mm.

If the value of the free play that you got is different from the nominal value, then you will need to adjust the length of the rod on the clutch master cylinder. Adjust the free play of the pedal by rotating the rod by the flat. If necessary, adjust again. In addition, you need to check the moment at which the clutch is engaged when you release the pedal. Start the engine, when idling, depress the clutch pedal to the stop, then, insert the first gear and slowly release the pedal.

Try to determine at what distance the pedal from the floor the car will start to move. With stable operation of the clutch and its drive, the distance will be 30-40 mm. If the value differs from the specified one, then you should check the full and free travel of the pedal, as well as the possible presence of an air lock in the hydraulic clutch release drive system. For the same reason, it is not recommended to keep the clutch off for a long time (for example, in traffic jams). If you do not have to move immediately, it is better to move the gear lever to neutral and release the pedal.
    DAEWOO NEXIA clutch slippage can be easily determined by the tachometer. If, while driving, with a sharp press on the accelerator pedal, the speed rises sharply, and then decreases slightly and the car starts to accelerate, then the clutch must be repaired.

    Checking and adjusting the pedal stroke of the DAEWOO NEXIA clutch release drive

    The clutch pedal stroke of the DAEWOO NEXIA car is checked to assess its technical condition and to determine the reasons for deviations from normal operation (the clutch "leads", "slips", etc.).
    To check and adjust the clutch pedal stroke of a DAEWOO NEXIA car, you will need: wrenches "for 12", "for 13" (two), a screwdriver, a ruler.

    4. To determine the free play of the clutch pedal, measure the distance from the initial position of the pedal to the position where an increase in resistance is felt when the pedal is depressed by hand. The nominal free travel of the clutch pedal is 8-15 mm. If pedal free play differs from nominal, adjust clutch master cylinder rod length.

    5. Loosen the locknut to adjust the stem length. (For clarity, the loosening of the locknut is shown on the removed clutch master cylinder. It is not necessary to remove the master cylinder).

    6. Rotating the rod by the flat (shown by the arrow), adjust the pedal free play.

    7. Tighten the stem yoke jam nut and check for full pedal travel. Repeat the full stroke adjustment if necessary.
    NOTE:

    On cars with a mechanical drive for disengaging the clutch, remove the spring clip and by turning nut A on the threaded end of the drive cable, achieve the required full travel of the clutch pedal. To increase the total travel of the clutch pedal, unscrew nut A, and to decrease it, tighten it. Install the spring clip and check the full travel of the pedal.

    8. Check up the moment of inclusion of coupling at pedal release.
    - clutch pedal free play. Adjust if necessary;
    - Full stroke of the clutch pedal. If the stroke is less than permissible, adjust it and check the condition of the clutch release drive;
    - the presence of air in the clutch release hydraulic drive. If necessary, pump the hydraulic drive.

    Bleeding the clutch release hydraulic actuator DAEWOO NEXIA
    If, when the pedal is pressed all the way down, the clutch does not fully disengage (“leads”), which is accompanied by a characteristic grinding of gears when reverse gear is engaged, there may be air in the clutch hydraulic actuator. Remove it by bleeding the hydraulic drive.
    In addition, pumping is performed when the hydraulic drive is filled with liquid after its replacement or repair of system components associated with its depressurization.
    To bleed the hydraulic clutch of a DAEWOO NEXIA car, you will need: brake fluid (class not lower than DOT-3), a bleed hose, a "10" key, a container for the drained fluid.
    1. Check the fluid level in the clutch release master cylinder reservoir and top up if necessary.

    2. Remove a protective cap from the valve for removal of air of the working cylinder of a drive of deenergizing of coupling.

    3. Put a hose on the valve and lower its end into a container with a small amount of brake fluid. Ask an assistant to press the clutch pedal 4-5 times with an interval of 2-3 seconds, and then keep it pressed. Unscrew the fitting 3/4 of a turn - liquid with air bubbles will come out of the hose into the container.

    4. Wrap the valve and ask to release the clutch pedal.
    5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 several times until fluid begins to exit the hose without air bubbles.
    WARNING:
    While bleeding the hydraulic drive, periodically check the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder reservoir. do not allow the liquid level in the tank to fall below 10 mm from the bottom of the tank. Top up the fluid in a timely manner, otherwise, when the bottom of the tank is drained, air enters the system and pumping will have to be repeated again.
    6. Wrap the valve, put on a protective cap and if necessary add liquid to a reservoir of the main cylinder.

    Schema (removal and installation) of the clutch of the DAEWOO NEXIA car
    The main malfunctions, for the elimination of which it is necessary to remove and disassemble the clutch:
    - increased (compared to the usual) noise when the clutch is engaged;
    - jerks during clutch operation;
    - incomplete engagement of the clutch (clutch "slips");
    - incomplete disengagement of the clutch (clutch "leads").
    HELPFUL ADVICE:
    If the clutch fails, we recommend replacing all its elements (driven and driving discs, clutch release bearing) at the same time, since the work of replacing the clutch is laborious, and the life of undamaged clutch elements has already been reduced. If they are reinstalled, it may be necessary to replace the clutch again after a relatively short mileage.
    To replace the clutch, you will need: a “11” wrench (a socket head is more convenient), a mounting blade, a mandrel for centering the driven disk.
    1. Remove the gearbox.

    2. If you install the old pressure plate, mark in any way (for example, with paint) the relative position of the disc casing and the flywheel in order to set the pressure plate in its original position (to maintain balance).

    3. Holding the flywheel with a mounting spatula (or a large screwdriver) from turning, unscrew the six bolts securing the clutch pressure plate casing to the flywheel. Loosen the bolts evenly: each bolt has two turns of the wrench, moving from bolt to bolt in diameter. Remove the clutch pressure and driven discs from the flywheel while holding the driven disc.
    4. Before installation of coupling check up ease of movement of a conducted disk on splines of a primary shaft of a transmission. If necessary, remove the causes of seizing or replace defective parts.
    5. Apply refractory grease to the driven disc hub splines.

    6. When mounting the clutch, first install the driven disk using a mandrel, then the pressure plate casing, aligning the marks made before removing it, then screw in the bolts securing its casing to the flywheel. Screw the bolts with a torque of 15 Nm evenly, one turn of the wrench each, alternately moving from bolt to bolt along the diameter.

    NOTES:

    To center the clutch, make a mandrel.

    Install the driven disc so that the inscription "FLYWHEEL SIDE" is directed towards the flywheel (the protruding part of the disc hub must be directed towards the diaphragm spring of the clutch housing).

    7. remove the mandrel and install the gearbox.
    8. Check the operation of the clutch (see above "Checking and adjusting the travel of the clutch release pedal").

PROCEDURE
1. Measure the distance from the front of the pedal to the carpet. Press the clutch pedal with your hand until you feel resistance and measure the amount of free play.

Clutch pedal free travel: 1–3 mm

2. If the clutch pedal free play does not match the required value, adjust it as follows:

– Loosen the lock nut and, turning the bolt, adjust the free travel of the clutch pedal, then tighten the lock nut;

Warning

After adjustment, tighten the bolt until it reaches the pedal stop, then tighten the locknut.

– Rotate the pusher until the desired free play is reached, then tighten the lock nut.
Warning

When adjusting the installation height or free play of the clutch pedal, be careful not to move the push rod towards the clutch master cylinder.

3. After completing the adjustments, check that the distance from the clutch pedal to the floor with the pedal pressed corresponds to the required value.

Clutch pedal free travel (A): 1–3 mm
Distance from the clutch pedal to the floor when the pedal is depressed (B): 90 mm

4. If the installation height and clutch pedal free play cannot be adjusted, there may be air in the clutch hydraulic system or the clutch master cylinder may be faulty. In this case, bleed or disassemble and check the clutch master cylinder.

BLEEDING THE CLUTCH DRIVE SYSTEM

Any hydraulic system works normally if air is removed from it. Warning

During bleeding, add only clean fluid recommended by the manufacturer.
The fluid used in the hydraulic drive dissolves paint and plastic, so if fluid gets on the car's paintwork, wash it with plenty of water.

PROCEDURE
1. Loosen the bleed screw and attach a hose to it. Place the other end of the hose in a glass container of sufficient volume.
2. Slowly depress the clutch pedal.
3. With the clutch pedal depressed, loosen the bleeder screw and bleed the air from the hydraulic system. Tighten the bleeder screw and release the clutch pedal.
4. Repeat the operations until the brake fluid comes out without air bubbles.
Warning

Rapidly re-depressing the clutch pedal in area B-C can cause the pushrod to come out of the clutch cylinder housing during bleeding. Depress the clutch pedal only after it has returned to its upper position (A).
