Overview of the Husqvarna Viking E20 sewing machine. Sewing machine Husqvarna Viking E10

08.03.2020

This is an entry-level electromechanical machine. For professionals and needlewomen with experience of its functions, it may not be enough. For me, she has become a good helper in sewing toys, clothes for a child and small patchwork things.

Manufacturer

Swedish company Husqvarna, founded in the 17th century, produces a wide range of products for a wide variety of areas. She is known to many, including chainsaws. Husqvarna Viking sewing machines are made in China by order of the company. They have a two year warranty.

Place of purchase

We bought a car from a shop "Sewing World".

Sewing World is the official distributor of Husqvarna Viking sewing machines. Buying Husqvarna Viking products in our stores, you will receive a quality machine provided with warranty and service.

The price in this store for the Husqvarna Viking E10 car at the present moment can be viewed at the link.

I want to note the excellent service and advice when choosing and buying a sewing machine. Her husband followed her. The consultants fully instructed him, checked all the functions of the sewing machine, showed him how to sew buttonholes (the initially selected machine was immediately rejected because it did not do the job), change the type of seam, thread, told how to maintain it. My husband immediately bought everything he needed, including special oil, and at home he was able to explain to me all the main points of working with her.

Description of the sewing machine

The sewing machine has a white plastic body. Its weight is a little over 7 kg.

There is a button on the front panel for reverse and a round window showing the code of the selected line. Various types of stitches are drawn at the top with codes. Switching between them is done stitch selector(lower wheel on the side). I want to point out right away that to switch to stitches S1, you need to turn the stitch length dial counterclockwise. After the mark "0" there will be a mark "S1".

Threading the needle is easy. There are hints in the form of arrows, as well as needle threader. Above is also bobbin winder.

foot pedal provides smooth sewing control.

When you turn on the machine, it lights up immediately bulb which is very convenient. On the left sidebar is thread trimming knife And you don't have to keep scissors handy. foot can be in three positions, and when working with thick tissues using two step lever you can raise the presser foot to its highest position.

Bobbin inserted in the usual way.

Machine accessories

The standard accessories supplied with the machine are as follows: standard foot, zipper foot, decorative seam foot, blind hem foot, buttonhole foot, L-screwdriver, ripper/brush, second spool holder, 2 spool plates, packing of needles, ruler-guide, 3 bobbins, plate for the teeth of the conveyor, felt pad.

Accessories fit into the box, which is located at the bottom and slides out easily.

Processed fabrics

According to the manufacturer, the machine can process fabrics from very light to heavy, as well as knitwear.

In my experience with regular cotton fabrics, denim, a double layer of fleece, the machine did just fine. The needle did not bend, the seams were of high quality.

Instruction

Included with the machine is an instruction manual that you should definitely read before starting operation. There are many useful things there.

Types of stitches

The machine has a fairly large selection of types of stitches.

In addition to two straight lines (A and B), there are 8 decorative ones (C -. There is a regular zigzag, and there is a three-step one (for sewing on elastic, lace, darning, sewing on patches, etc.). S1 stitches are recommended for knitted fabrics.

I really like seams. The zigzag was especially useful. I use it for overcasting edges.

I also zigzag the seams on the front side of the product so that the patchwork thing lies flat.

In general, this choice of lines gives scope to the imagination.

Machine flaws

The instructions say that flywheel can only be turned clockwise. However, the machine does not like it at all when I touch it when sewing. This may be necessary if, for example, the line ends, I release the pedal, and the needle at this moment remains in the fabric. I have to twist the flywheel a little to get the needle out. The needle is very tight, the thread may break. Sometimes it was necessary to disassemble the entire mechanism in order to get a needle that was stuck. From frequent twisting of the flywheel at the beginning of operation, one needle was bent. But gradually I adapted to release the pedal when the needle was out.

If the seam is straight, then everything turns out perfectly. But if during the stitching you had to make several stops and turns, then at the end, it happens that the upper thread clings to the bottom of the bobbin mechanism. As a result, you have to cut three threads instead of two. This happens on different machines, including fully mechanical ones.

Care

With frequent use, you need to lubricate the bobbin mechanism with oil once a month. To protect against dust, cover the machine with a cover. Unfortunately, it comes with a soft fabric case.

Impression

The Husqvarna Viking E10 sewing machine is light in weight. It's easy for me to change it. After finishing work, cleaning it up is not a problem. It is not noisy when sewing. If I sit down to sew in the evening, then in the next room, where the child sleeps, she cannot be heard. In addition, it is comfortable, easy to learn to operate, has a wide range of functions, quite sufficient for an entry-level.

Contents may vary depending on delivery.

Reliability

The metal frame, powerful 70 W motor, metal presser foot holder in appearance demonstrate the reliability and endurance of the Husqvarna Viking E20 sewing machine. The weight of the machine reaches 6.5 kg.

Ease of use

The presser foot pressure is set to the normal value and does not require much adjustment during normal operation. If necessary, the presser foot pressure can be changed.

When working with very thin materials, the clamping force is loosened by turning the set screw counterclockwise, and for thick materials - clockwise.
A very handy knife for trimming thread protrudes from the case on the left. An additional thread trimming knife is located on the presser foot holder bar.

The work area is illuminated with an LED lamp, and a manual needle threader will help you thread the needle in the eye of the needle in seconds. For sewing with a twin needle, the design immediately provides two rods for two spools of thread.

A special window is provided to display the selected operation.

I would like to note that all operations are switched in a circle, i.e. after the line Q, the operation "loop" follows.
By pressing the reverse key, the sewing machine sews in reverse. With this sewing, the stitch length may differ from the stitch length when sewing forward. It depends on the density of the material. To ensure that the stitch length is the same, a line balance regulator is provided.

For such operations as darning, sewing on buttons, embroidery, it is not necessary to advance the fabric. For in on/off fabric feed is provided with a special regulator.

By switching the lever to the extreme position, the lower conveyor descends and becomes below the shuttle plate. In this position, the tissue does not advance. During normal sewing, the feed dog remains in the up position.

The cover does not feel secure. The cover material resembles embossed paper.

Stitchability of materials

The narrow feed dog with additional teeth in front of the needle will allow experienced users to handle all types of fabric with ease.

Household electromechanical sewing machine, stitches many types of fabrics, from light to fairly heavy. has all the basic and additional functions, out of the indicated 21 operations, 18 stand out specifically. It is easy to operate, has received positive feedback from the owners of this model.

    Kate 14.05.2019

Lightweight, comfortable, relatively inexpensive, good design, good equipment. It took me a long time to choose a sewing machine. Little experience, figured out quickly, everything is convenient. The machine arranged for everyone, cute little things for the interior were sewn right off the bat. A good slightly brutal design, unlike the low-budget Jeans and Singers, does not look like a child's toy.

    Lera 13.05.2019

I bought it 6 months ago, at first I used it a little, but for the last three months it has been quite active. She didn’t make friends with decorative stitches, she missed the loop - and the whole stitch was ruined, and it’s hard to unpick it and the fabric can be damaged, so she stopped even trying, except if it sometimes rolls in small areas. Perhaps the reason is in crooked hands, but I experimented a lot and could not solve the problem. There was never a breakdown, but sometimes the machine acted up for no apparent reason. I don’t clean and lubricate as often as I should, so the machine is tenacious. It’s a pity that there is no speed controller and an automatic button for loops - it would be absolutely fine.
P.S. Jeans in several additions and the skin can be said that it does not sew (with special paws and needles). This is complained about in reviews of most machines, but this is normal for household machines, because they are not specialized industrial ones.

    Vika 12.05.2019

Simple and easy to operate. Even a beginner will understand. Copes even with thick fabrics. Works quite quietly. This is not my first sewing machine. I watched and chose, I wanted to take into account all the little things. I decided, bought it, brought it home and immediately sat down to sew! First of all, I changed the zipper in jeans (a special foot is attached), then I sewed up the lining of the pocket and immediately overcast it with an overlock seam, then folded the bottom of the T-shirt. Enjoyed sewing! All fabrics are sewn without problems, the thread does not get confused, does not break, the machine works quietly and without "tension". Tomorrow I will sew new curtains! Well, very satisfied! I read the instructions and it turns out there are a lot of useful things that I did not know before. I recommend, you won't regret it!

    Maksim 07.03.2019

I decided to give my wife a sewing machine for her anniversary, but I don’t understand anything about them myself. But I know that she dreamed for a long time. I read on the Internet and found a specialized online store. I called and it turned out there is a store in our city. They invited me, promised to show and tell everything for free. I came to the store in Nizhny Novgorod, the experts demonstrated everything and offered several models. I chose the Husqvarna Viking E 10 and the price and features suited me. Added additional needles and paws to the order. The wife was very pleased. I am glad that good specialists work in the store. Now only to you.
