The prototype for the 2019 Murman sedan was the Lifan 820 model, intended for the domestic Chinese market. However, similar features give out the relationship of cars. True, Lifan Murman 2019 2020 is not without its flaws. However, this is the first car of this class for the Chinese manufacturer, so the sedan seats can be scolded for the lack of distinct lateral support, and the scales are marked too small and you have to strain your eyesight.

However, this does not apply to the rear row seats. The dimensions of the car allow you to provide enough space for rear passengers, while taking care of their comfort. For the second row, they rely on their own air ducts, the ceiling does not put pressure on the head, and the supply of space in front of the knees remains sufficient. As for the finishing materials of the new lifan murman, they correspond to this class of car, but they lose a little to premium sedans of other brands.

In terms of equipping the car, lifan did not stint. As planned, the name murman should become synonymous with wealth and presentability. In advanced trim levels, the Chinese sedan will receive a multimedia system, the screen of which will be located on the center console.

Engine range: is there a diesel?

So far, for a company called lifan, it offers only one type of engine for the new model. The base engine will be a 1.8-liter gasoline aspirated, developing 128 forces at 162 Nm of torque. This unit is also installed on the new lifan myway crossover.

In the domestic Chinese market, a 2.4-liter engine is also offered for the lifan 820 model. Its characteristics allow you to shoot 160 horsepower and 221 Nm of torque. This modification is not yet available to the Russian buyer, but its debut is also possible.

Which is better automatic or manual?

The younger variation of the new lifan sedan, supplied to the Russian market, is equipped exclusively with a 5-speed manual. But the 2.4-liter engine installed on a Chinese car is already paired with a 6-band automatic supplied by the Australian company DSI.

Lifan engineers took care of the safety of the Chinese sedan. It is worth mentioning right away that this car has been “living” in China for several years, and is popular. Having considered the situation more broadly, Lifan's marketers came to the conclusion that this car has good prospects in Russia. Provided that the price of a sedan does not cross the psychological border of a million rubles. So a business sedan from Lifan Motors appeared on our market.

Unlike its Chinese counterpart, for which the banal digital index “820” is used, “our” version was called Murman. According to the “Lifanovites”, this euphonious word well reflects the essence of the desire for victory, being associated with the heroism of the harsh Murmansk region of our country.

Designed in Europe, Murman is quite pretty. Of course, there is nothing extraordinary in the appearance of a large sedan. But the compilation of stylistic solutions verified by eminent brands turned out to be very successful. And most importantly, the appearance of "Murman" is characterized by a balance of proportions, which is not very typical for products of the Chinese automobile industry.

The interior of the Lifan Murman is more chaotic. But if you do not dig, the atmosphere of the residential area is quite pleasant. One of the main trump cards of the cabin is space. And first of all on the back sofa. Here, even with a frankly free placement in front of those sitting in front, there will be plenty of space. True, the seat itself lacks a couple of centimeters for the complete comfort of the passenger. But this is more than offset by an almost flat floor. And the most comfortable armrest that slides out of the back. The armrest is so wide, so soft that the desire to use it arises by itself. Moreover, you can lean on it from the heart - it will not break. By the way, behind the armrest, in the back of the seat, there is a hatch to the luggage compartment. "Driver's World" is also not bad, but not so serene. It all starts with landing. A tall person, if he prefers a captain’s view, will have to sweat in search of “his” position behind the wheel, because as the seat rises up, the top of the head begins to come into contact with the ceiling, and the knees, despite the adjustment of the steering wheel “this way and that”, with the rim " bagels”, besides, the wall of the center console begins to put pressure on the right knee. In general, the ergonomics of the "cockpit" raises no questions. It is felt that they thought about the location of the controls. But a little misunderstood. How to explain the placement of the “pushing” button of the onboard computer on the dashboard? You have to reach for it through the steering wheel, which is not entirely handy. The instrument panel itself, by the way, is very personal: clear, bright, well readable. But why take center stage with a giant tire pressure monitoring icon? A separate “song” is the AUX and USB inputs, hidden in the depths of a small storage niche. To stick a flash drive, and blindly, you need to sweat a lot.

The only Elegance trim available for the flagship sedan at this stage is a not particularly extensive but reasonable set of options. For an absolutist, I think they will be few. And for a "reasonable businessman" - perhaps enough. But there are plenty of opportunities to improve the sedan. This applies to the same extent to the quality of the finishing materials used.

The driving force of the car is a 1.8-liter gasoline engine with 128 hp. with., which is combined with a 5-speed manual transmission. This combination is initially alarming in relation to a 1.8-ton business class car, which is subsequently confirmed by practice. However, if you drive calmly, fears are in vain. Murman is able to keep the rhythm of the traffic flow. And moreover, even to show some liveliness of character. But active driving behind the wheel of this sedan is difficult. I have to drive the tachometer needle to 4000 rpm all the time. And the motor "spins" not as willingly as the driver would like. Probably, the box with “viscous” gears, especially the fourth and fifth, contributes here. In addition, the switching is not clear. In general, I want more. And there is a solution. After all, the Chinese are ready to produce Murman in Russia with a 2.4-liter 161-horsepower engine and a 6-speed automatic right now. But then the price of the car will inevitably rise, which is now 949,900 rubles. It turns out a kind of vicious circle. However, do not forget that the Chinese are only probing the business soil. They expect officials at the regional level to be interested in this proposal, putting at the forefront such fundamental comfort elements as the spaciousness of the cabin and excellent smoothness of the car, combined with relative affordability, a 5-year warranty and respectful support programs Lifan Assistance and Lifan Connect. And if this is not enough for the consumer, a more “packed” version of Murman will appear on our market. Such a course of events is quite likely, because the Lifanovites see Ford Mondeo or Kia Optima as a guide. Of course, the Chinese business sedan has yet to grow and grow to the level of such serious market players. But in any case, Lifan Murman is worthy of attention. And its manufacturer - respect.

Traditionally for Chinese cars, the interior is trimmed with artificial leather. Moreover, this was done with a claim to premium - a rhombus. I have not seen such a number of parallelograms even in the interior of the Bentley Bentayga. It's a pity that only a black interior is provided for the Russian market so far - a brown or light interior, available for the Chinese Lifan 820, looks more expensive. Also, at the start of sales there will be no multimedia system with a color screen. Lifan Motor Rus promised that if customers receive requests for other versions of the sedan, they will be satisfied.

On the go, Lifan Murman is radically different from other Chinese models - it has an excessively soft suspension and uninformative steering. Finding a common language with a car on a winding road is difficult. The 1.8-liter 128-horsepower engine, which is rather weak for a large sedan weighing 1.5 tons, and poorly matched transmission ratios, complements the feeling of laxity. The moment of 162 Nm is absolutely not enough to quickly accelerate with four passengers inside.

But Lifan Murman is quite quiet. Obviously, soundproofing, including the engine compartment, has been thoroughly worked on here. Wind noise at speeds over 100 km / h is heard only by passengers in the rear sofa. The sound source is the second small glass section in the rear windows. Why the Chinese did not make a solid large rear window is a mystery.

But the engineers made sure that when loading and unloading things or a spare wheel from the luggage compartment, the driver does not stain his clothes - the Lifan Murman sedan is equipped with a special apron that covers the rear bumper. By the way, the presence of a slot in the area of ​​​​the tailgate lock indicates that this same door can be closed without removing the black apron. In this case, the fabric will be able to protect part of the bumper from a light touch to it by another car. In general, the cargo compartment in the Lifan Murman is quite large - with a volume of 510 liters.


The engineers also worked on the safety of the Lifan Murman. The sedan is equipped with frontal, side airbags and curtain airbags in the entire length of the cabin. It debuted in China in 2013, a year later it was shown at the Moscow International Motor Show, promising to launch it on our market in 2017. And they kept their word.

Murmans is the Russian name for Norwegians, Normans. Later, the northern lands where the Vikings landed began to be called that. However, to get acquainted with the car, I had to go, contrary to logic, not to Murmansk, but to the east - to the coast of Lake Baikal.

Murman got for a test drive in the only evaluated Elegance configuration so far costs 949,900 rubles. Machine length - 4865 mm. Wheelbase - 2775 mm, like classmates Honda Accord, Nissan Teana and.

The price is killer. Features too: 1.8 engine with 128 hp. paired with a 5-speed manual ... For the Chinese market, they produce a more interesting power unit - a 167‑horsepower 2.4 engine with a CVT. We have one like this, but converted to 161 hp, it will appear only if there is a demand.

The interior is slightly outdated, gloomy and not very cozy. But after a while you get used to it.

Murman looks neat and even attractive. A mixture of individual elements borrowed from several European cars is done quite skillfully - this time the designers did not even go too far with chrome, decorating only the radiator grille, glass edging, door handles, emblems and nameplates with it.

But the interior is gloomy: black plastic (however, pleasant to the eye and touch), black leatherette on the seats and doors, mysteriously called eco-leather and quilted with a rhombus, plus aluminum inserts and a rough imitation of wood. Devices - archaic design, with non-irritating white backlight. The driver's seat is comfortable, but the pillow is Asian short.

The MP3 player reads recordings from discs, a USB device, or a mobile device. However, to connect a smartphone, you have to blindly poke the connector into a niche in front of the gear knob. And in the same place, for some reason, they placed a button to call the operator of the ERA-GLONASS system. Was there anywhere else?

Murman has not yet passed European crash tests, and in China, Lifan 820 received five stars for frontal impact. The sedan is equipped with front and side airbags and air curtains.

Ride alone in the back seat freely and comfortably. Wide soft armrest - with a double cup holder, covered with a lid. The third passenger will obviously push the neighbors with his shoulders, the protruding console eats up the space at his feet.

The trunk is spacious - 510 liters. For long lengths, a hatch is cut out in the back. It's a pity that part of the usable volume is eaten up by the hinges of the lid.

In motion, neither the engine nor the noise from the road is almost inaudible, even with the rear passenger you speak in an undertone. The suspension scheme is traditional for most cars of this class: McPherson struts work in the front, and a multi-link in the back. The ground clearance on the Russian versions was increased from 121 to 145 mm.

The suspension, which was tuned by the specialists of the English engineering company MIRA, at first makes a good impression: it easily swallows numerous bumps and reliably keeps the car in corners. But while the Murman is not loaded, and the speed does not exceed 100 km/h. With four riders and a full trunk, the car is exhausting in vertical swing. And the steering with smeared "zero" does not add to the mood.

Today we got a new sedan from the Chinese automaker Lifan, namely the Murman model, for a test drive. Looking ahead, we can honestly say that the car, of course, is not at all new, or rather, it is not new for the Chinese car market, where it has been successfully sold for two years now. There it is sold under the name Lifan 820. For our market, the Chinese have come up with the name Murman, pleasant to the Russian ear. Well, thanks for that.

By the way, "Murman" or "Murman"? Based on the etymology of the name of our northern city, the stress is still on the first syllable. But not everything is so smooth: Chinese marketers report that the car is named after the Russian Murman icebreaker. The reason for this is an unexpected, but quite specific message to the Russian buyer.

Yes, dear reader, the Chinese have set their sights on the premium segment, where they expect to move not just anyone, but Toyota Camry. Take a break, drink some water. Have you calmed down? Go ahead.

Externally the Chinese is quite worthy to play in the "D" segment. It looks larger than the Camry and looks good (everything is known in comparison, of course) in profile, from the stern. As for the frontal part, let's just say - for an amateur. In the outlines of the radiator grille and the shape of the head optics, a bold (finally) attempt to reach the taste preferences of Europeans can be seen, because Chinese tastes, whatever one may say, are something strange for our eyes. Here there is something to cling to, and even with a claim to the solidity of forms. With the design of the Chinese, judging by the "Murman", everything is getting better. The same "Camry" in terms of design causes yawns among many aesthetes, but, again, it's all a matter of taste.

Inside Lifan Murman a person of almost any build can easily accommodate, there is a lot of space here, the seats from the American manufacturer Johnson Controls are quite comfortable, there are enough settings. As for ergonomics and equipment, then ...
The fact is that we have a car with a claim to premium, which does not smell here. But the fact that it doesn’t smell here is good. Either a test car was prepared, or the Chinese finally got rid of this side effect in their cars, which is good news. On the street plus 41 degrees Celsius, I would not want to breathe plastic fumes. The French air conditioner did a great job of cooling.

For the rest, we note the outdated design of the Murman front panel. If you compare with the "premium", then only with the "Europeans" of the late 90s. Good or not, it's up to the consumer to decide. Controls, knobs, buttons and similar things in some places surprise with quality, in other places they upset. Let's just say, along with the desire to give solidity in some moments, there is a frank "budget" sedan. Also, Chinese designers decided that Russian drivers are more smokers than coffee lovers: there is an ashtray at the armrest, but there are no coasters.

As for the exterior, we note the excellent fit of the body parts and the quality of the car's painting. It was performed at a fairly high level, which, frankly, you do not expect.

Now we note, in our opinion, the defeat of Chinese marketers. under the hood Lifan Murman has an old 1.8-liter aspirated engine with a capacity of 128 horsepower. The transmission is a five-speed manual gearbox.
The fact is that the Chinese note the craving of the Russian buyer for reliability and durability. The legends about Japanese million-plus motors and German quality are still alive. Yes, such an engine, with average use, can live a long time, even a very long time. But is it worth it? I'm afraid it's unlikely. It is possible that a complete set with a 2.4-liter engine and an “automatic” will enter the market.

How does Lifan Murman drive? In continuation of the topic of the engine, this issue is rather difficult to consider. No, the sedan doesn't drive like it should, it's far from frisky. It is quite difficult to skip an intersection or overtake at the start, you need to get used to the speed and constantly keep it at a level that allows you to somehow maneuver in the stream. Agree, for a 1.8-liter engine of 168 Nm, the maximum torque is clearly not enough. There are no less complaints about the gearbox. If you want to jump out onto the Sochi serpentine, then it will be difficult for an unprepared driver to catch the optimal mode of driving uphill. There are fewer questions on direct routes, but we still live in a region where the mountains are a normal mode of transportation, and a trip to the sea is a standard route for most local drivers.

Well, a small “bonus”: for many years of test drives, for the first time we were forced to start the car “from the pusher”. Yes, he just didn’t want to start from the same “Start engine” button. With the exercises in pushing the Chinese “core”, we obviously amused the excavators working nearby.

Again, perhaps it was just unlucky with the car, with the electronics (the headlights were turned off, the terminals and contacts were not damaged), nevertheless, the fact remains.

And here to suspension there were practically no questions. It works out potholes and bumps quite well: soil and gravel will not be a problem for Murman. We can say that the sedan is too soft, but this is a matter of habit and the wishes of each of us.
Note also soundproofing Chinese, she is beyond praise. We don’t know how many kilograms of “Shumka” went into sealing the car, but they were not spent in vain: the air conditioner works louder than the engine - this is another “trick”.
