In Zhukovsky, the construction of an indoor skating rink has started on the territory of the Meteor sports complex. For everyone, the ice arena will open in 2020. This was reported by the press service of the administration of the city district.
Heated locker rooms, toilets and showers will appear on the territory of the indoor skating rink. The sports facility is being built at the expense of the city budget.
The head of Zhukovsky, Yuri Prokhorov, stressed that the new ice rink will function all year round. "It is intended for sports competitions and training in hockey and figure skating, as well as for mass visits," Yury Prokhorov explained.
The head of the municipality added that for children who go in for figure skating and hockey at the Meteor Sports Center sports school, classes at the rink will be free. For ordinary visitors, the services of the ice rink will be provided on a paid basis.
Honored Coach of Russia, Deputy Director for Sports and Mass Work at the Meteor Sports School Vladimir Fomin specified that the skating rink being built - a sports facility with dimensions of 73 × 37 m and a hockey rink 56 × 26 m - will allow the use of ice for figure skating and ice hockey in convenient time for young athletes, as well as to extend the mass skating season from two months, as is usually the case on open ice, to six to seven months.
“Construction of a roofed skating rink, which is part of the SC Meteor cluster, will help increase the number of students and make these activities better,” Vladimir Fomin added.

The head of the regional Ministry of Sports, Roman Teryushkov, recalled that by the end of 2019, 14 municipalities of the Moscow Region will receive 15 new hockey rinks. Some of the sites are being built on the site of previously existing, but worn-out facilities, others are being built from scratch.
New sites will appear in Domodedovo, Istra, Kashira, Kotelniki, Lobnya, Lyubertsy, Mozhaisk, Naro-Fominsk, Odintsovo, Ozery, Orekhovo-Zuyevo, Sergiev Posad, Stupino and Elektrostal. In addition to the playing space, the pitches will be equipped with changing rooms for outerwear, toilets, a tribune for 30 seats and benches for substitutes. Also, all objects will receive lighting.

The name "Meteor" most accurately conveys the mood and essence of hockey, which everyone loves, it is: virtuoso skill, enthusiasm, prowess, sports (in a good way) anger and (also in a good way) arrogance, faith in oneself and in the strength of the team, and also: dynamics, power, speed. And, at the same time, we remind you that hockey is, after all, just a game. The sketch of the team's logo was created by Vasily Kornev, who was then slightly modified by a professional artist.
And the training began. Akulinin I.I. became the first coach of the team for many years. Much later, the coaching bridge was headed by Efimov I.G., Kuznetsov Yu.V., and then Andreev A.F.
In December 2005, the team won the New Year tournament at Katka.Ru. In February 2006, the team took part in the most famous amateur tournament - the Challenge Cup (Odintsovo).
In the 2007-2008 season, he entered two teams that were supposed to fight in different divisions of amateur / veteran leagues in Moscow. The club has a website www.hcmeteor.ru, a youtube channel. In the 2007-2008 season, the club took the first three cups in various tournaments. The success of the club inspired other friends to create teams within the club: Meteor-MTK and Meteor.RU. Three teams entered the 2008-2009 season, which, for the most part, successfully performed in various divisions of various amateur leagues. In the future, up to the present, growth and expansion continued - "Meteors" became more and more. Club teams have won a huge number of titles and awards. But in the Night Hockey League, out of all the Meteors, only Meteor-MTK played and they also performed successfully!
Club fans are now all over the world! The Meteora jersey can be found as a heirloom, decoration or favorite item on the ski slopes, in hockey shops, sports bars, hockey world championships, other places and events anywhere in the world. The most exotic case: Meteor's hockey jersey was spotted on a beach in ... South Africa.
