- The second unit was 1.2 TSI with 105 hp. and 7-speed DSG. This engine can be installed in any configuration. Its combined fuel consumption per 100 km is 6.4 liters;
- The third 1.4 TSI engine comes with a 7-speed DSG and has a power of 122 horsepower, its fuel consumption per 100 km is 6.8 liters. Also available in all trim levels;
- And the last 1.8 TSI with all-wheel drive, 6-speed DSG and 152 hp. available only in medium and top configurations. Its fuel consumption is 8 liters per 100 km.
Unfortunately, diesel does not reach Russia (engine with a volume of 2.0 liters and a power of 140 hp). The premium version of Elegance differs from other trim levels only in the choice of engines and content. Top versions that have received all-wheel drive can be equipped with a special off-road assist system. They also include a descent assistance system.
Since 2014, a new Yeti has appeared with a redesigned and some innovations: the modification with the new name Outdoor does not differ much from the car that we described above, the changes affected only the design, new suspensions and additional engine protection appeared.
Drive
Having seen the technical characteristics of the car, you can also evaluate the main parameters in the Skoda Yeti. And also find out who will be interested in the small-circulation Yeti, and who should look at it, and who should not. There is a 1.2 TSI engine in a variety of cars that belong to the Volkswagen concern. The company does not hesitate to install the unit on both workhorses (for example, the Volkswagen Caddy) and B-class hatchbacks.
But in a crossover, he meets for the first time and therefore many drivers are interested in how he will cope with his task. After all, we know that turbocharged engines with a small circulation have begun to be mastered by manufacturers as part of the struggle to reduce toxicity and obtain efficiency. But in fact, the effect is the opposite: in order for the car to “drive”, the engine has to spin up. And the expense runs up no less if there was a unit of the usual volume in the car. What happened in the case of Skoda Yeti?
It turned out as usual: on one side of the engine, a single-wheel drive car is enough to briskly ride around the city, effectively starting from a traffic light under the surprised looks of other drivers. The 7-speed DSG box is quickly mastered, and then, knowing how to manipulate the gas medal, you can rush at high speed. In general, the Skoda Yeti is a rather nimble car that has a low-power engine. The Czechs once again confirm that balance is the most important thing. In this example, we can observe how a car with a weak engine produces high performance.
According to the passport, acceleration to 100 kilometers takes 12 seconds. But this is on a straight road and from a place. The sensations of response and pedaling are different from the passport data. But no miracle happened: fuel consumption with moderate driving on empty roads can easily keep the waste in the region of 8 liters per 100 kilometers. But if you stand in a traffic jam for a while, the flow rate rises to 10 liters. If you give all your best and ride only during rush hour, then on the on-board computer you can see the figure 12 l / 100 km. Therefore, you should not expect extra efficiency from the Skoda Yeti 1.2 TSI. But the dynamics of this car at the highest level.
The steering also gives only pleasure: it is informative and very transparent, the Skoda Yeti steers at the level of some hatchback. Only in corners it rolls a little more than a hatchback. On the track, the car holds the road with dignity, without shaking and unnecessary swaying. What's really weird about the Yeti is the suspension: it can be soft on tight corners and stiff on bumps. It is not recommended to storm a speed bump at 40 km per hour - it will shake from the heart.
Dimensions and luggage compartment
Let's now take a look at the dimensions and clearance of the Yeti:
- The clearance in this car is 180 millimeters. This clearance is considered average for crossovers;
- Wheelbase dimensions - 2580 millimeters;
- Length - 4220 mm;
- Width - 1790 mm;
- Height - 1690 mm;
- The Skoda Yeti weighs 1345 kilograms.
Such dimensions indicate that the crossover turned out to be quite compact and light, which significantly increases maneuverability.
Skoda Yeti got a great trunk. Despite the compact body, the trunk of this car has a volume of 405 liters. And that's just the back row. It is impossible not to mention the possibilities of changing the back row. Due to the transformation, the trunk becomes significantly larger. All three chairs individually can fold their backs to a parallel state with respect to the floor. And if there is a desire, then they can generally be thrown back to the front row of seats, and thereby creating a huge additional trunk.
If we take into account the vertical cover that the trunk is equipped with, then a lot of cargo can be placed in the car. By the way, in Europe this car was recently recognized as one of the most successful models for a family that prefers outdoor activities. And this is not surprising: a voluminous trunk where you can put a lot of useful things for traveling, a relatively affordable waste of gasoline and top-level safety equipment. Having familiarized ourselves with all the technical characteristics, we can take a general look at the interior and finish our review of the Skoda Yeti.
A few words about design
In addition to unusual optics, the Skoda Yeti can be distinguished by such unusual details of appearance as a chopped line of the front part and the roof itself, this car even got an angular front glass. The rear part of the body also cannot boast of a smooth transition of lines, the luggage compartment lid is completely perpendicular to the ground - it resembles the shape of a “heel” car. Nevertheless, the car looks stylish, the latest reystaling brought only positive results for the Skoda Yeti.
The Outdoor modification claims to be an SUV. But what signs of an SUV did she get? There is an unpainted lower part of the body, which is not afraid of chips or scratches. Also, the black bumper adds a bit of "wildness" to the design. What has gone wrong are the protective front and rear bumpers, which do the opposite: any impact against something hard with such "protection" will cause a dent, while the dark plastic would not care.
If we talk about the geometric patency in the Skoda Yeti, then it is quite modest indicators: 26 degrees at the rear and 19.4 at the front. If we compare it with the Nissan Qashqai, then our Bigfoot will be stronger than him in off-road capabilities. An important role is played by the clearance and dimensions of the car, which are suitable for conquering uncharted places.
As for the Yeti's interior, it is made at the highest level even for the most budget configuration - all the necessary elements are at hand, the system control keys are located intuitively. Security systems ABS, ESP, EBD are present, which is important. A driver under two meters tall can comfortably sit behind the wheel - there is a lot of free space for both passengers and the driver. His seat is fully adjustable, as is the steering wheel.
Results
We have studied all the important aspects of this Skoda model. Of the main advantages of the Yeti, one can single out a huge trunk, an affordable waste of gasoline, dimensions, excellent dynamics and a spacious interior. The car does not have high power, it is a calm and safe helper for the family. High clearance allows you to go on easy off-road and not be afraid of curbs when parking. But this Yeti is a city car that loves to get out into nature.
