Ground clearance Hyundai Creta, real ground clearance Hyundai Creta. Ground clearance (Clearance) Hyundai Creta Options and cost of the crossover

30.10.2019

Hyundai Kreta clearance is a fairly popular topic among domestic owners of a Korean crossover. It would seem why so much attention is paid to not the most important aspect of the car. The fact is that Creta is an intermediate link between the two segments, and therefore the issue of ground clearance causes a lot of controversy. Official manufacturers position the Creta as a crossover, but the design features of the car are pushing to think that this is an SUV. In today's article, we will discuss the ground clearance of the Hyundai Creta and try to sort out this controversial point.

Crete clearance features

The ride height of the crossover depends on the type of wheels with which it is equipped. When using standard 16-17-inch wheels, the ground clearance is 190 mm. The main difference between the SUV and other representatives of the class is that the lowest point of the body is the crankcase.

Fortunately for motorists, Korean developers have paid special attention to the protection of components and elements that are at risk of coming into contact with the road surface. Manufacturers managed to achieve this clearance indicator due to the installation of an independent suspension and the complete absence of overhangs. Elements such as the gearbox, transmission and power plant are located in special compartments of the body.

It is worth noting that initially, the Korean company planned to produce exclusively all-wheel drive vehicles. But, due to certain circumstances, it was decided to start producing a front-wheel drive modification. There is no difference in ground clearance for both versions of the crossover.

We have already said above that the clearance of the Hyundai Creta is 190 mm. If we add here the dimensions of the overhangs of 840 mm, we get a chic car that can easily overcome even the most difficult sections of the road. As practice shows, for the conditions of Russian roads, this indicator of ground clearance is more than enough.

If we compare it with the competitors of the Korean crossover, then their clearance rate fluctuates in the range of 170-200 mm. From this we can conclude that Creta is among the leaders in this aspect. For comparison, the “Korean” is only 5 mm inferior to the Russian SUV X-Ray.

Ground clearance Hyundai Creta - Estimation

Judging by the test drives of the crossover and the reviews of the owners, the standard clearance is quite enough to overcome deep puddles, snowy areas or swamps. The car can be successfully operated on any type of road surface due to minimal overhangs and a short wheelbase.

When information appeared that Creta would receive a ground clearance of 190 mm, this pleased domestic motorists. There are no specific requirements for this aspect of the car, and usually, the success of the engineers' decision is determined during operation. But in this case, it was not so - it was immediately clear that Greta's clearance was the most optimal for Russian roads. Add here another 17-inch "shoe" and "Korean" will not stop even a meter of snow.

Given the identity of the ground clearance indicators, experts advise choosing an all-wheel drive version of the crossover, which is definitely not inferior to the average SUV in terms of performance.

In front of the body, special linings are installed that protect important elements of the car.

The developers claim that they do not affect the ground clearance in any way, but some motorists claim that after dismantling them, they managed to win 40 mm. But we do not recommend doing this, as such intervention may adversely affect the technical condition of the car.

Despite the high clearance, Greta is equipped with 16 and 17-inch tires. According to experts, manufacturers needed to equip the crossover with larger diameter wheels, but this is not for us to judge. If you do not take into account the size of the tires, then the maximum off-road clearance is 145 mm - a fairly good result.

Expert opinion

Given the resourcefulness of the Russians, it is not surprising that the domestic owners of Greta are trying in every possible way to improve the performance of the car. One such improvement is the increase in clearance. This is not so difficult to do - it is enough to replace the springs and shock absorbers, and in some cases the wheels.

Experts identify three main methods for changing the clearance of the Hyundai Greta:

  • The easiest way is to install larger tires.
  • Installation of special stands in the crossover suspension.
  • Installation of a new suspension with increased sizes of springs and shock absorbers.

As practice shows, any of these methods can increase the clearance by 50 mm. But even with this in mind, experts do not recommend interfering with the suspension design, as this may adversely affect the performance of the element. Therefore, domestic motorists install other tires with a larger diameter.

However, not everything is so smooth here. If the wheel size is very different from the factory parameters, then this can lead to inaccuracies in the speedometer. Some motorists claim that due to violations in the operation of devices, they received a ticket for speeding.

The specialists of the Korean company conducted a large number of tests, as well as tests, and found out that 190 mm is enough to operate the crossover in any conditions. In some cases, you can install wheels 215/65, which will increase the ground clearance by 5-10 mm, without major interventions in the design of the car. In addition, it is possible to partially modernize the crankcase protection.

As a result, we note that even with minimal changes, it is possible to achieve a clearance of 196 mm.

Opinion of car owners

So, Greta's standard clearance is 190 mm. With minimal effort, it can be increased by 6 mm, but rarely does anyone take such a step. The fact is that the base indicator is the most optimal in terms of aerodynamics, and there is no point in violating this “harmony”.

As domestic motorists note, a clearance of 190 mm is perfect for driving on our roads even in the most severe weather conditions. On Youtube you can find a lot of videos with tests of the SUV, which are carried out by ordinary car owners and rarely anyone is disappointed with the car's cross-country ability.

What do we get?

Hyundai Creta - is considered one of the most optimal crossover options for driving on Russian roads. The car can be equipped with a front and full drive system, but any of these modifications can boast of excellent cross-country ability.

The ground clearance of the Hyundai Crete of 190 mm allows you to easily overcome problematic sections of the road, which are abundant in Russian open spaces. In addition to optimal clearance, the car also has relatively large wheels and small overhangs, which together give the Korean crossover universalism. As practice shows, the Hyundai Creta clearance is ideal for all areas of civilian use. "Korean" can be operated off-road and in urban conditions - the car is perfectly prepared for such contrasts.

After a year of operation, including on some off-road, there was a clear opinion about the all-wheel drive and cross-country ability of Creta.

Your story about the patency of Crete. I will continue in more detail.

Anthers on the Hyundai Creta are plastic, so additional protection will not be superfluous. The choice fell on the RIVAL metal plate, which allows you to change the oil without removing it, although official dealers remove it anyway to increase the price tag of the work (probably). Installation proved to be a hassle, as it requires the removal of air ducts, but with steel protection, it feels more confident behind the wheel, especially off paved roads.

While tormented with protection, he studied the bottom. From the lowest places under the body of the Crete, the engine sump and its rear support, as well as the muffler. The fixing bolt on the pipe, hanging very low, stands out in particular. There is every chance to hook them on an obstacle. It will not be superfluous to additionally protect the tank and coupling.

When driving on virgin soil with the lock turned on, the car behaves very confidently, while the usual “urban” auto mode is distinguished by a noticeable preload, so it is advisable to turn on the lock in advance when leaving the asphalt.

It remains only to test the Creta's behavior when driving on sand, but this is in the future.

About clearance

The real ground clearance of Crete is 190 mm, not 170 mm as many people think. The last figure is obtained when installing additional protection, but it, in turn, will reliably cover parts from damage. Do not forget that more than half of all crossovers have plastic anthers, that is, with a clearance of 190 mm.

Why didn't they make more ground clearance? For example 203 mm like Vesta Cross? I think because of the handling. At high values of ground clearance, controllability decreases, and on the track in Crete you have to drive more than on hard off-road. A similar situation with the suspension settings, which can not be called too soft.

Diagonal hanging for Crete is not a problem (photo not mine)

Why the choice in favor of the all-wheel drive Crete? The reason for this lies on the surface - patency. Called crossovers, front-wheel drive cars are not able to overcome any serious obstacles. For them, even a check-in on an icy hill is possible only with preliminary acceleration. It is enough to hang out one of the front wheels, and the car will not go anywhere.

Pushing into the sand on a monodrive is generally a disastrous thing, since the cruising range on such soil is no more than two meters, after which the car confidently buries its nose. With all-wheel drive, everything is much better and calmly gets out of a difficult area.

Not a front-wheel drive assistant when towing, unless it is being driven on asphalt. Pulling out a stuck comrade will not work. The front axle will slip helplessly, leaving the car in place.

Therefore, front-wheel drive is only for those who drive in urban conditions, and the exit from the asphalt is already recognized as an extraordinary event in itself.

Comparison with competitors

The presence of an electro-hydraulic clutch in conjunction with blocking simulation gives the model an advantage over Renault Duster, for example, since the latter often overheats the clutch (it is electromagnetic).

The approach angles and ramp angle of the Hyundai Creta are greater than those of many competitors in the class (due to the shorter wheelbase), such as the Mazda CX-5 or Renault Captur. Accordingly, the permeability indicators are higher.

Hyundai Creta is a front-wheel or all-wheel drive subcompact SUV with a five-door body, which successfully "coexist" with attractive design, practical interior, good comfort level and optimal quality at a reasonable price ... This is a universal car that does not have a clearly defined target audience and is best suited people regardless of gender and age ...

At the heart of "Kreta" is the so-called "hodgepodge" from a number of models of the South Korean brand. In general, the crossover is based on the “trolley”, familiar from Solaris and i20, however, it also has components from other cars: for example, in front-wheel drive modifications, the suspension from the sixth generation Elantra is used here, and on all-wheel drive versions it is from the third generation Tucson SUV.

Safety

Way to Russia

Hyundai Creta began its serial "career" in the fall of 2014 - it was then (under the name ix25) that its official sales were launched in the Chinese market ... At the same time, this SUV debuted in a conceptual guise back in April 2014 - at the Beijing International Motor Show ...

The global crossover under the familiar name in Russia, which he received in honor of the Greek island of Crete (at one time it was one of the most important centers of culture and trade, connecting Europe, Asia and Africa), was presented at the end of June 2015 in India, and with some differences from the Chinese "brother". By the way, the name of the car is also consonant with the word "creative", which translates as "creative".

Well, in the summer of 2016, Hyundai Creta finally made it to the Russian market - the debut of the five-door took place in August at a car show in Moscow, but even before that, its production was launched at the company's plant in St. Petersburg.

But before “reaching” our country, the crossovers covered over 370 thousand km of Russian roads in a year and a half and, based on the results of these tests, were adapted to the local realities of operation - they installed a more capacious reservoir for washer fluid (4.6 liters), reconfigured the suspension and increased ground clearance (up to 190 mm), separated windshield heating and washer nozzles

Competitors

Of course, the Hyundai Creta is not unique - the crossover has a lot of classmates.

On the Russian market, it is opposed by people from various countries of the world, namely: Renault Duster and Kaptur, Nissan Terrano, Ford EcoSport, Suzuki Vitara, Mitsubishi ASX, Jeep Renegade, Haval H2…

There are other alternative options, but they are only able to compete with the Korean SUV "with a stretch", since they are offered in our country exclusively in front-wheel drive versions: Lifan X60, Chery Tiggo 3, Brilliance V5 ...

History of success

It's no secret that crossovers in Russia are more readily bought than the same hatchbacks and station wagons, since they allow much more: for example, to park close to the curb without fear of damaging the bumper; drive confidently on winter roads that are not always cleared, etc.

And in the case of Crete, the success of Solaris also played a huge role - it has proven itself as a reliable and solid car at an affordable price. That is, many motorists perceive the Hyundai Creta as “a follower of Solaris with even greater ground clearance and all-wheel drive transmission.” From this statement follows an explanation of why the crossover is so popular in the Russian market:

  1. The Koreans just did a good job with their product and didn't miss a beat by giving people what they wanted;
  2. They really behaved competently in terms of marketing, having built a competent pricing policy and thereby “burying” almost all competitors;
  3. The Hyundai brand itself in recent years has been able to earn a very good image in Russia (out of reach for many other automakers).

Creta'2019

It is worth noting that in 2019 the subcompact crossover should go through a planned restyling, as a result of which, most likely, it will change in the likeness of its Indian “brother” (it was updated in May 2018).

It is expected that after the modernization, the car will change externally due to new bumpers and a radiator grille, tweaked lighting, and will also receive new equipment (not previously offered for this model). In addition, it is quite possible that a new turbo engine will appear (to replace the “top-end” atmospheric 2.0-liter engine).

However, all this is only preliminary information, not officially confirmed).

Exterior

Externally, Hyundai Creta has a rather attractive and interesting design, thanks to which it is perceived as a representative of a higher class than it actually is.

But for the sake of objectivity, it is worth noting that the perception of exterior design is significantly influenced by equipment levels:

  • the simplest SUV will have unpainted mirrors, 16-inch steel wheels with hubcaps and simple reflex-type headlights;
  • on the higher version, by default, body-colored mirrors are added;
  • starting with the “Comfort” version, regular roof rails appear;
  • and in the configuration "Travel" there are already lined headlights with LED "garlands" of DRLs.

With a “generally positive appearance”, Crete has enough flaws:

  • Crossover reflector headlights do not have good head lighting (at the same time, expensive versions with lensed optics are not affected by this problem).
  • Massive bumpers even give the appearance of the car solidity, but they are too "delicate" (that is, they are easy to damage, for example, in the process of careless parking).
  • There is a high probability of corrosion on the tailgate, even after several months of operation (to a greater extent, this is a “used” problem, since it is practically nullified on “fresh” cars).
  • The windshield wipers do not have enough working stroke, as a result of which “blind” zones often appear in bad weather.
  • Wide thresholds in the mud "do not promise" to keep clothes clean.

Weight and size parameters

Creta is a representative of the subcompact crossover segment with the corresponding dimensions: length - 4270 mm, width - 1780 mm, height - 1630 mm (with roof rails - 1665 mm).

The center distance is 2590 mm from the car, and its minimum ground clearance is 190 mm.

As for the front and rear track, its size depends on the version:

In addition, the curb and gross weight differ for various modifications of the all-terrain vehicle:

Interior

Inside, the Hyundai Creta greets its occupants with a cute, modern and laconic design.

But the design of the front panel directly depends on the version:

  • the steering wheel has the same shape in all modifications and it is, in any case, multifunctional, but with an increase in the level of equipment, its capabilities expand;
  • by default, the car is supposed to have a combination of instruments with two analog scales and a monochrome display between them, but the most "equipped" versions can boast of Supervision's "toolkit" with a 3.5-inch display and backlight control;

The “elegance” of the center console is also affected by the level of equipment:

  • "Normally" this crossover is offered with a conventional two-din radio (regardless of configuration). But the entertainment complex (with a 5″ or 7″ screen - to choose from) is offered only in optional packages for an additional fee.
  • in the “initial” configurations under the GU there are three “washers” for controlling the heater, which are replaced in the “top” ones by an attractive control panel for the single-zone climate control system.

In general, the Creta has almost exemplary ergonomics, but at the same time it demonstrates the traditional features of budget foreign cars:

  • inexpensive finishing materials;
  • lack of illumination of the buttons located on the door cards;
  • simple "glove box" (again, without illumination);
  • every now and then appearing "crickets" in the cabin (but not everyone faces such a problem);
  • bright blue illumination of the dashboard - straining the eyes, especially at night;
  • and, of course, the fact that most of the elements of the so-called "luxury" is only available as an option, and only for the most expensive trim levels.

Formally, the Hyundai Creta “apartments” are five-seater (and in fact, three adult passengers can more or less comfortably sit on the second row).

In the front part of the decoration, not the most comfortable chairs are installed - they are flat and hard, with a short pillow and poorly developed lateral support. Fortunately, these same seats are regulated in sufficient longitudinal ranges (and on the driver's side - also in height), allowing you to choose the optimal position.

On the second row there is a comfortable three-seater sofa and a normal supply of free space in all directions. Extreme passengers can completely remove their feet under the front seats, and the low central tunnel does not cause serious discomfort to the central rider. True, the Koreans obviously saved on the convenience of the inhabitants of the “gallery” - there is only an air supply to the legs, and pockets in the backs and doors (ventilation deflectors, a folding armrest and sockets for recharging gadgets are absent in all versions without exception).

As for the “dry” figures, in terms of internal capacity, the subcompact crossover demonstrates the following parameters:

At the disposal of the Hyundai Creta is the right-shaped trunk with a large opening and a neat finish, which in normal condition is able to accommodate 402 liters of luggage. At the same time, the car boasts a small loading height and the absence of a threshold, which facilitates the loading of overall and heavy loads.

There are two shallow pockets on the sides of the compartment, however, there is one strap-lock only on the port side. Regardless of the modification, a full-size spare wheel on a 16-inch stamped steel disk is hidden in the underground niche, but the organizer is offered only for expensive versions.

The second row of seats folds in parts almost flush with the floor - the platform is not quite flat, but there are no steps. As a result of such simple actions, the volume of the luggage compartment increases to 1396 liters. Of course, the numbers by the standards of "adult" crossovers are not particularly impressive, but they are quite enough for everyday needs and even travel.

Specifications

Hyundai Creta is equipped with two atmospheric gasoline "fours" to choose from, meeting the environmental requirements of "Euro-5" and "digesting" gasoline with an octane rating of AI-92 (or higher), with an in-line layout, an aluminum cylinder block, a 16-valve timing belt type DOHC with chain drive, multipoint fuel injection and variable valve timing:

Gamma 1.6 D-CVVT

"Junior" power unit, with a volume of 1591 cm³, the potential of which depends on the modification:

  • 2WD- 123 hp at 6300 rpm and 150.7 Nm of torque at 4850 rpm;
  • 4WD- 121 hp at 6200 rpm and 148.3 Nm of peak thrust at 4850 rpm.

Nu 2.0 D-CVVT

The "senior" motor, with a working volume of 1999 cm³, generating 149.6 hp. at 6200 rpm and 192 Nm of torque at 4200 rpm.

By default, this crossover has driving wheels only on the front axle, and as an option it is equipped with an all-wheel drive system with a multi-plate clutch (transferring, if necessary, up to 50% of traction to the rear wheels).

All-wheel drive "Kreta" can operate in two modes:

  • 4WD Auto(automatic) - by default, the entire power reserve goes to the front wheels, however, the electronics constantly analyzes the load on the engine, the behavior of the car on the road and the degree of wheel slip, after which, if necessary, transfers part of the moment to the wheels of the rear axle.
  • 4WD Lock- allows you to forcibly lock the clutch for a constant supply of traction to the rear wheels. True, it remains activated only at speeds up to 30 km / h (if this mark is exceeded, the “automatic” mode starts).

Hyundai Creta engines are quite reliable and resourceful (at least 200-250 thousand km), and the chains in the drive of gas distribution mechanisms are theoretically designed for the entire service life (but the guarantee of their durability is clean and high-quality oil). At the same time, after 120 thousand kilometers, the chain can still stretch, thereby affecting the correct operation of the D-CVVT phase control system. In addition, with “six-digit numbers on the odometer”, this node should be given special attention - since problems with it can lead to sad consequences (and these motors are not subject to major repairs).

The common "scourge" of all versions of the Crete is a closely spaced catalytic converter, which does not have a large margin of endurance. Its ceramic honeycombs can collapse for a number of reasons (such as low-quality fuel, malfunctioning injectors, etc.) and subsequently get into the engine - putting it out of action. This situation is solved extremely simply - by removing the catalyst and installing a flame arrester (but this is only if its warranty replacement is not possible).

In addition, after 50 thousand kilometers, the Creta engines are prone to the manifestation of "floating idle", which is eliminated by cleaning the throttle assembly.

In terms of gearboxes, Hyundai Creta is in perfect order. Neither the "mechanics" nor the "automatic" have practically no "chronic sores".

But there is a weak point in the “manual” gearbox - this is the clutch, which is not “sharpened” for sharp starts and high loads (the decent mass of the crossover itself does not affect its “durability” in the best way).

As for the "automatic", it must be borne in mind that its valve body is sensitive to the purity of the oil (it is best to change it every 30-40 thousand km, and every 60-80 thousand km you should fill in new gear oil). With proper care, this unit passes at least 150 thousand km without problems and only after that it will require some “intervention” (for example, replacing oil seals, gaskets, friction clutches, etc.).

The all-wheel drive transmission of the Crete as a whole is also capable of boasting good reliability and endurance - it can withstand even prolonged slipping without signs of overheating.

But you should avoid keeping the car in water for a long time, because if even a small amount of liquid gets inside the electro-hydraulic clutch, it will fail after a few thousand kilometers.

In terms of "driving" characteristics, this subcompact SUV does not stand out with something special:

And in terms of fuel efficiency, Hyundai Creta is not particularly surprising:

By default, the South Korean SUV is equipped with an independent front suspension with MacPherson struts, springs and transverse stabilizers. But the design of the rear "hodovka" depends on the modification:

  • for front-wheel drive cars - a semi-independent spring system with an elastic beam,
  • for all-wheel drive - an independent multi-link.

According to the suspension settings, the Creta is a real strong man, since the car in this regard is practically “impenetrable”.

It’s not bad with a smooth ride: the crossover smooths out small and medium irregularities very diligently, although it allows shocks on the waves.
At the same time, it is expected that all-wheel drive versions behave more predictably and comfortably on the road - this is precisely due to the completely independent chassis.

Initially, Hyundai Creta with manual transmission was equipped with power steering, but later it was abandoned - now all versions rely on electric power.

Disc brakes are used on all four wheels of the car:

  • on the front - ventilated with mechanisms with a dimension of 280 or 300 mm,
  • on the rear - ordinary, 262 mm.

This crossover does not have any critical shortcomings in the nodes listed above, however, as well as obvious advantages (compared to competitors).

In general, the car handles well and brakes quite effectively, but you shouldn’t demand anything “supernatural” from it.

Options and prices

On the Russian market, Hyundai Creta is offered in four basic trim levels - "Start", "Active", "Comfort" and "Travel".

Basic the version with a 1.6-liter engine, 6MKPP and front-wheel drive will cost from 957,000 rubles, and the list of its equipment includes:

  • Two front airbags;
  • ERA-GLONASS emergency call device;
  • Audio system with four speakers, Bluetooth, USB and AUX;
  • Trip computer;
  • Four power windows;
  • Electric drive and heating of external mirrors;
  • Multifunction steering wheel;
  • Front seat belts with pretensioners and height adjustment;
  • Folding backrest of the second row;
  • ABS+EBD and ESC systems;
  • Stabilization Management System (VSM);
  • Assistance system when starting uphill and downhill;
  • Tire pressure monitoring technology;
  • 16" steel wheels.

The next equipment in the hierarchy - "Active", costs from 1,010,000 rubles, while the surcharge for 6AKPP here will be 80,000 rubles, for all-wheel drive - 50,000 rubles, and for 6AKPP and all-wheel drive in a pair - 175,000 rubles. In addition to the "base" she can "boast":

  • air conditioning,
  • heated front seats
  • trunk shelf.

Execution "Comfort" you can’t buy cheaper than 1,140,000 rubles - for that kind of money you get a crossover with a 1.6-liter engine, an “automatic” and a front-wheel drive transmission.
For a car with the same engine, but “mechanics” and all-wheel drive, they ask from 1,170,000 rubles, and the option with a 2.0-liter “four”, automatic transmission and front-wheel drive will cost from 1,200,000 rubles.

In addition to all of the above, it is supplied with:

  • single-zone "climate",
  • reach steering wheel,
  • 16" alloy wheels,
  • lensed headlights with LED daytime running lights,
  • foglights,
  • heated steering wheel with leather trim.

"Top" equipment "Travel" with a 1.6-liter "aspirated", 6MKPP and front-wheel drive costs from 1,145,000 rubles, for 6AKPP you will have to pay 50,000 rubles, and also for all-wheel drive - an additional 80,000 rubles.
For a front-wheel drive modification with a 150-horsepower engine, you will need to pay from 1,255,000 rubles, and for all-wheel drive - from 1,335,000 rubles.

The "signs" of such an SUV are:

  • driver's power window with Auto mode,
  • roof rails,
  • side airbags and curtain airbags,
  • keyless entry and start system,
  • heated rear seats
  • electrically heated windshield washer nozzles and windshield,
  • media center with 5 inch screen,
  • light sensor,
  • Cruise control,
  • Rear View Camera.

And in the package style offered:

  • 17 inch wheels,
  • multimedia system with 7-inch display and navigator,
  • seat trim in faux leather
  • taillights with LEDs and some exterior styling elements.

In general, Hyundai Creta is a very worthy representative of its segment (and even for quite adequate money) for the “minor flaws” of which you can sometimes simply close your eyes (since the main competitors have even more of these shortcomings).

At the same time, almost every driver will be able to choose for himself the “best option”:

For the city

For example, a front-wheel drive crossover with a 1.6-liter engine is perfect for purely urban use, and if it is also equipped with an “automatic”, it will also brighten up the “pushing” in traffic jams.

At the same time, for long trips along the highway, it is better to immediately abandon this engine, because at full load, and besides, in mountainous areas, an awful situation will develop: neither “shoot” to overtake, nor normally overcome the rise.

For traveling

For long out-of-town “races”, the Creta with a 2.0-liter “aspirated” will be the best choice, and not necessarily with all-wheel drive.

It is also more suitable for outings on “off-road” (if one can call those places where this SUV can go), but with an all-wheel drive transmission - such a car will row confidently enough on poor coverage (while versions with more “ weak "motor will feel a clear lack of traction).

If you choose a Hyundai Creta based on the configuration and cost, then here the Koreans went to the trick - making it so that only for the "top" configuration are offered a 2.0-liter engine in conjunction with all-wheel drive and the so-called "elite" options.

That is why for fans of off-road trips there is no alternative, as such - only "Travel".

It's best for travelers not to even look in the direction of performances below "Comfort", since they are not provided with a powerful engine.

Well, for urban residents, the Active version is also quite suitable, since the same “base” is devoid of amenities such as air conditioning and heated seats, but it costs not much cheaper.

In other countries

In general, Hyundai Creta is a global model (although it is not offered in the US or in Europe). At the same time, the options presented in other markets may differ from the model in the Russian specification both in terms of external design elements, power range and equipment level, and in the name.

In China this car is known as the "ix25", but it has slightly different bumpers, grille and lighting, as well as certain features in the cabin. In addition, the crossover for the Middle Kingdom is equipped with a number of options that are not available in our country: a panoramic roof, deflectors for rear passengers, a central armrest on the second row, driver's seat ventilation and much more. The "Chinese Creta" is driven by a 1.6-liter engine with 125 hp, combined with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission, or a 1.4-liter T-GDI turbo engine that produces 140 hp. and mating with a 7-band "robot". But the drive is only front (and, accordingly, the rear suspension is exclusively semi-dependent).

In India this SUV is called the same as ours - "Creta", and visually it is the closest to the Russian version. At the same time, it can be equipped with such "bells and whistles" as a sunroof with an electric drive, induction charging for smartphones and an electric driver's seat. For Indian buyers, this crossover, again, is offered only with front-wheel drive, but in addition to the gasoline engine (1.6 MPI for 123 hp), it also boasts CRDI diesel engines with a volume of 1.4 and 1.6 liters, delivering 90 and 128 hp. respectively.

In Brazil Hyundai Creta is positioned “half a step higher” than in other countries, which is why it has a more solid appearance with different bumpers, a large radiator grille and a different rear optics pattern. The salon in terms of design is almost the same as the Russian specification, but it can be two-tone (with brown seats and inserts on the front panel). Due to the peculiarities of the climate, such a Crete does not need heating, but it has ventilation for the driver's seat and ventilation deflectors for rear passengers. The engines in the Brazilian market are essentially the same as in Russia, but prepared for ethanol and supplemented with a start/stop system. There is no all-wheel drive here either (even for a surcharge).

Hyundai Creta is a subcompact SUV that is almost an exact copy of the ix25 model sold in China and India. The car is positioned as global, and the name was given to it in honor of the island of Crete.

The design of the new Hyundai Greta / Creta 2018-2019 (photo, price and configuration) is made in the current corporate style of the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 company with faceted shapes and a hexagonal radiator grille. True, here it is noticeably narrower than on larger crossovers from the manufacturer's line.

In addition, the off-road vehicle received massive bumpers, stampings on the sidewalls and head optics with diode sections. In the cabin, the multimedia system screen, framed by vertically oriented air ducts, occupied a dominant position on the center console. At the same time, in general, the design of the front panel resembles that of the X 35.

It is expected that the restyled version of the model will receive a new grille, silver inserts in the bumpers, retouched optics, foglight covers, a two-tone body color (optional), and expensive versions will be equipped with a sunroof, an electric driver's seat and a waterproof key bracelet. All this appeared for years for the Indian market.

And in India, diesels with a capacity of 90 (1.4 l) and 128 (1.6 l) forces are available for Greta. They are paired with a 6-speed manual, while the top-end diesel engine is also available with a six-speed automatic.

In two thousand and sixteen, the production of a new Hyundai Creta model was launched at the company's Russian plant in St. Petersburg, and in the line it replaced the Solaris hatchback. We decided to offer a car with petrol "fours" of 1.6 (123 hp) and 2.0 (149 hp) liters.

Both engines are paired with a 6-band automatic transmission, and the initial one can be taken with a manual transmission. Four-wheel drive was originally put only on the car in the maximum configuration and with a 149-horsepower engine, but later it was adapted for version 1.6, which was derated to 121 hp.

It takes 12.3 seconds to accelerate to hundreds of the initial version of the crossover with a 123-horsepower engine and mechanics (12.1 seconds with an automatic), the maximum speed is 169 km / h. The front-wheel drive version with a two-liter engine is gaining 100 km / h in 10.7 s, and its maximum speed is declared at 183 km / h, while the top-end all-wheel drive is slightly slower - 11.3 s and 179 km / h.

Clearance Hyundai Crete - this is the phrase that increasingly appears in the lines of search engines. Indeed, ground clearance has always been one of the most important factors when choosing a car of this class. If full-fledged SUVs have it for granted, then modern crossovers, focused on driving through urban slums, often lose ground. With the advent of a new SUV from the Korean company, hopes for serious ground clearance flared up again. And Hyundai Creta did not deceive the expectations of buyers!

The high clearance of the Hyundai Crete is noticeable even with a simple inspection of the SUV.

Ground clearance Hyundai Creta

Its ground clearance is stated at 190 mm. This is a very decent figure, especially in light of the many opponents that the "Korean" will have to fight against. For example, Mazda CX-3, which is considered the main enemy of Hyundai, has a clearance of only 160 mm, which leaves it far behind.

Putting a bottle in this way under the threshold of many rivals will not work.

In addition, this figure is complemented by impressive entry and exit angles of 17° and 27°. And small body overhangs will become another advantage over competitors - the chances of catching a bumper while going on a picnic are becoming more and more ghostly. Here it is time to note the Mazda CX-3 again, which stands out with a small rear bumper and a long front end with a low-set front lip. Her damage on a bad road becomes just a matter of time.

Driving on a primer is not a problem for the Hyundai Crete.

As you can see, the clearance of the Hyundai Crete is quite sufficient not only for parking on curbs and in snowdrifts, but also for much more significant off-road exploits, so a fishing trip, a picnic, and just driving along a country road will not be a problem for Crete.
