I think it’s not a secret for anyone that different types of engines were installed on VAZ 2110-2112 cars, ranging from carburetor to modern 21124. I think it’s not worth talking about the first, since there are practically no such cars left, but about injection motors are worth talking about and disassembling each of them in more detail.

Engine model VAZ 2111

This type of engine is the most common on all machines of the tenth family of the 2000s. This is a very reliable and unpretentious engine, with a volume of 1.5 liters and a power of 76 horsepower.

Due to the fact that the power unit is not crushed by any toxicity standards, it is quite frisky and almost instantly reacts to the gas pedal, which cannot be said about more modern engines.

I can note that I had 2112 with such a motor in my personal use and I had to change the valves twice after the belt broke, and they were torn even after 2000 km after installation (no defects, not overtightened, etc.) To solve the problem with valve bending, it is necessary to install pistons with grooves from the 21124 modification.

Modification of VAZ 21114

This type of unit is practically no different from 2111 in design, but has an increased volume of up to 1600 cm³, and a power of 81 hp. The engines are very good on the bottom, with good traction, but the response of the gas pedal is not as sharp as on the 1.5-liter version. This is due to the “crushed” Euro norms.

This type of internal combustion engine does not bend the valve, so you should not worry about a broken belt, although you do not need to allow this once again. It is also worth noting that this type is equipped with phased injection, respectively, with phase sensors installed in the cylinder head.

21124-motor

This is the most favorite type of power unit of many owners of the VAZ 2110-2112, as it has a number of advantages over the rest, such as:

  • increased power up to 92 hp
  • low fuel consumption
  • no problems with “bent valves”, since the pistons are provided with recesses from the factory that prevent the “ill-fated” meeting of pistons and valves

It is because of all these advantages that many people prefer to buy cars with such motors. But if you look at the complexity of maintenance, then naturally - the 8-valve in this regard will be simpler.

If you want a simpler and more reliable design, then these are 8-valve machines. If power and dynamics are important to you, the choice is in favor of the 16-valve version. But again, keep in mind the modification so that there are no problems in case of a broken belt.
