Today, one of the most affordable "foreign cars" in Russia is this modest, small hatchback. And this applies not only to the primary, but also to the secondary market. But, for some reason, a low price, instead of attracting a large number of buyers, often acts the other way around - frightening. Calling this vehicle a "semi-car", many people simply turn their eyes away from this car. In fact, this applies only to those who have never ridden a Matiz.

Let the critics snipe as much as they like, but the design of the “baby” is still pretty cute, a little funny, but not repulsive - by no means. Remarkably, Matiz received its original (angular) appearance not at all thanks to its “Korean creators”, but no less, its exterior was born in the eminent ItalDesign studio. Initially, this "body" (M100) was supposed to be purchased by the Fiat concern, but the "Fiat" people "rejected" it and the studio offered this project to the successfully developing Korean company Daewoo. Later (in 2000), the baby was restyled (the Koreans themselves had a hand in it) - this is how we know him in Russia.

Particularly noticeable elements of the new Matiz M150 (compared to the M100) are: smoother body shapes (the front of the car, one might say, has found a face), the front “turn signals” have shifted to the center and have a more harmonious round shape, the design of the false radiator has been changed grilles and the rear light block changed its appearance, an additional air intake appeared a little later (above the front bumper, which gave the “baby” an even more modern look). In addition, the front part of the body was redesigned with the expectation of installing a liter four-stroke engine under the hood of the Matiz (but they began to install it much later).

When designing the new Daewoo Matiz (in the back of the M150), not only optimal aerodynamic performance was taken into account, but safety also played a significant role. It has a reinforced roof and doors (power beams inside). Also, the designers took into account the possibility of accidents with the car overturning. The fuel tank is made of a special plastic composition, and it is almost impossible to damage it, which prevents not only leakage, but also ignition of fuel in the event of such accidents.
Here it is worth mentioning the data taken from the Matiz crash test, which, although it did not get the highest scores, but 3 out of 5 stars in the Euro NCAP tests for passenger safety and 2 out of 4 for pedestrian safety - not a bad indicator for a car developed in 2000 year. An additional plus to ensure safety is the presence of 7-inch vacuum brake boosters in the car.

Considering that this is a representative of the segment of especially small cars (A-class), its interior is quite roomy. The driver's seat is quite universal for people of different builds. The steering wheel is small and comfortable, besides it lies perfectly in the hands. The seat is quite simple and convenient to adjust to the most comfortable position. It is worth noting the easy-to-read instrument panel and the competent arrangement of the “stuffing” control buttons, whether it be electric lifts, air conditioning or electric adjustment of headlights. The cabin is separated from the engine compartment by a multi-layer soundproofing material.

In Russia, the first generation Matiz (in the back of the M150) is officially sold, the production of which is located in Uzbekistan (UZ-Daewoo).

If we talk about technical characteristics, then initially this five-door hatchback was offered with a 0.8 liter injection engine. 51 hp The engine is equipped with a 5-speed "mechanics".

A liter four-cylinder engine appeared only in 2005, at the same time an automatic transmission appeared on these small cars ... But “happiness was not long” - pretty soon the “automatic” was taken away from Matiz (so as not to create unnecessary competition in this segment for subsequent generations of Spark, marketed under the Chevrolet brand). But it was the “liter Matiz with a gun” that most of all relished the buyers of these compact cars.

On the Russian market, Matiz is presented in two versions: Standard (with a 0.8-liter engine / 51 hp) and Best (with a 1.0-liter engine / 63 hp).

  • The Standard option is the simplest and most affordable - the price in 2015 is from 299,000 rubles. In total, three configuration options are possible - “Lite”, “Basic” and “Lux”.
  • In the Best variant (its configuration is only "Lux"), in addition to a more powerful engine, more equipment options are offered. Accordingly, the car in this version is more expensive. The price of the Best option in 2015 starts from 500,000 rubles (for this price, in addition to a more powerful engine, you get fog lights, power steering, remote-controlled central locking, an audio system with CD). Optional installation is possible: roof rails, air conditioning, parking sensors, alloy wheels and much more useful and not very expensive.

From the recommendations of “experienced matizovods”, we can conclude that there is practically no point in taking a “drum” (an empty “Lite” package). It is much easier to pay extra and take a car with power steering and electric windows. Thanks to the power steering, it will become much easier to drive a car, and when purchasing a personal vehicle, you should think about comfort first of all (if possible, of course).
Summarizing, it is worth noting that Matiz is not only a good option for a novice driver (whatever you say, but the smaller the car, the easier it is to drive), but also an excellent vehicle for moving around a big city (it’s easier to move in a dense stream of cars, and there will be much less problems with parking).

By automotive standards, Daewoo Matiz (Ravon Matiz) is a long-liver - in South Korea, serial production of the car began back in 1998 and is still being carried out today.

Traditionally, for budget cars, it is sold in fixed configurations - depending on the set of equipment, the buyer chooses the option that best meets his requirements. However, this approach has one significant drawback - it is not possible to order any additional equipment.

Initially, the car was produced at the Daewoo Motors plant in South Korea. However, as its popularity grew, the production of the machine began to be organized at company factories around the world - in Poland, Romania, India, China and Uzbekistan.

The above plants did not develop a unified policy regarding configurations, therefore, depending on the country of production, different manufacturers offered their own options for a set of equipment for Daewoo Matiz.

Today, the most common are cars made in Uzbekistan, where the production of the car began in 2001 and continues to this day.

Engines and gearboxes

Daewoo Matiz is equipped exclusively with gasoline engines. Their volumes are 0.8 liters or 1.0 liters.

The junior engine is a three-cylinder, develops 52 horsepower with a torque of 62 Nm.

The older engine has 64 horsepower and 87 Nm of torque in its arsenal.

They are aggregated with a five-speed "mechanics". Also, any engine option is offered with a four-speed “automatic”.


Interior and exterior

Initially, Daewoo Matiz was offered only in three trim levels - Best, Exclusive and Universal. However, with the growth in demand for the car, the manufacturer decided to expand their number.

The car is offered in nine fixed trim levels. Of these, six options fall on the younger motor, and three on the older one.

The basic version of Daewoo Matiz is called M19 Lite. It provides for the following equipment: an electric headlight range control, a special rear door lock that protects children from opening them, a rear-view mirror in the cabin equipped with an anti-reflective coating, a rear seat with a folding system, audio preparation and electric rear window heating. In the decoration of the car seats, the simplest Lite fabric is used.

The next option - M19, is distinguished by the presence of a Clarion car radio, the presence of two audio speakers, an antenna on the roof, a rear wiper and improved seat trim - their upholstery is made of Standard fabric.

In addition, the manufacturer provides for the M19 / 81 equipment, which differs from the previous one only in that the bumpers are painted in body color.

Complete sets M22 and M22 / 81 differ from previous versions in the presence of an air conditioner. Their fundamental difference between them is the use of body-colored bumpers in the second configuration.

The most advanced options are M18, M16 and M30. They are available with both a 0.8 liter engine and an older 1.0 liter engine.

In these options there is a central lock, a clock in the cabin, a car radio with four speakers, athermal windows, hydraulic power steering, and power windows in the front doors.

Externally, cars with such a set of equipment differ a little more. In the most advanced version, the M30, Daewoo Matiz is equipped with alloy wheels, while the other two are equipped with steel wheels equipped with decorative caps. In addition, in all three trim levels, side mirrors with turn signal repeaters are installed, and in the M30 - arches on the roof.

In particular, some sellers offer the car in four trim levels: Low Cost, STD, DLX, Best. The first four options involve the installation of a 0.8-liter engine, and Best - exclusively a four-cylinder liter. The Low Cost and STD trim levels lack hydraulic power steering, front power windows, wheel covers, and a remote trunk opening system from inside the car. Bumpers in such variants are not painted in body color, and in Low Cost there is no air conditioning and heating for the rear window.

Another variation of equipment sets and finishes is indicated by the indexes Low Cost, M, M81, MX, MX A/C, MX A/C LD.

In addition, Korean-assembled cars are very rare on the secondary market. Their classification is completely different. In South Korea, the car was produced in trim levels DLX, DLX K, DLX Luxe. Unlike cars made in Uzbekistan, they offered a richer choice of equipment and could be fitted with a special factory plastic body kit that gave the car sportiness, velor interior upholstery, an electric drive for the mirror located on the right, soundproofing for the hood and a spoiler on the back door.

The agony of choice.

Before Matiz was 14th, so I will compare with it. The monetary limit was limited to 250,000 rubles. Choose from Nexia, Lanos and Priory (just released, 2007). There was a car dealership next to the former work and they sell (sold) VAZs, Daewoo, Suzuki. More leaning towards Nexia, because. looks like her more than Lanos. As well as unpretentiousness in maintenance and reliability, time-tested, but little has been heard about Lanos. My height is 178 and weight 95, not quite thin, you guessed it, and so, I couldn’t even get into the Nexia normally, the steering wheel interferes, and when I sat down, my legs rested on it. If you move the seat further, you have to stretch behind the wheel, then it’s uncomfortable to sit, so if the steering wheel could be lifted and pulled out on yourself, then it would be great. In short, no luck. With Lanos the same story. Priora, as it turned out, was an outwardly modified 10, I then thought that it was, as they said, a deeply modernized 10, I didn’t like the appearance, the panel was for 3, and most importantly, that there was as much space left as in 10-ke, that is, very little for rear passengers, it’s not critical for me, but still.

The choice is not great, b / y did not want, like the Chinese, a pig in a poke. I thought, how can I fit in the Nexia, can the chair be digested below or something. And by chance (honestly), I noticed a couple of Matiz in the corner. Well, in my head I thought about remaking the chair, it’s very dangerous to be in the steering wheel - I don’t think about it, I’m going to the Matiz, I never sat in it and didn’t drive, but in Nexia I drove a taxi a couple of times, though in the back seat. So, I open the door, move the seat all the way back, it was very close, probably the girl was trying on, I GO in and sit down, and not like in Nexia - I squeeze in and sit down. Matiz really surprised me outwardly with a very small size, but inside it is quite spacious. I didn’t sleep at night, but my wife initially wanted Matiz, she likes these pop-eyed eyes, and I told her, HOW WILL I RIDE IT ??? This is a women's car, etc. A couple of days later I went to look again, in the end I went 10 times. My wife puts pressure on the purchase, I don’t climb into others, I spat and bought it. Now the car is 2.5 years old and 70,000 km., I'm not overjoyed.

Equipment.

Color sand-beige metallic, power steering, air conditioning, 2 electric glass, athermal glass, rear wiper and other door trim with pockets, adjustable side mirrors from the passenger compartment (fur), rear shelf. Cassette Clarion + 4 speakers and antenna on the roof, turning on the light in the cabin when you open the doors. Dopa installed in the showroom: crankcase, alarm with feedback and auto start.

Salon.

The interior is narrow, the passenger is felt strongly, if the same as me. The wife is small and thin, you don’t feel her - it’s summer. In winter, if both are in down jackets, then it’s noticeably tighter and the wife is felt, I’m generally silent about big uncles, not so much like sprats in a jar, but when shifting gears with your elbow you feel a passenger. The car is essentially a 4-seater in terms of comfort, you can drive behind the 3rd, but within the city, it’s hard for long distances. There is enough legroom in front of the seated ones, the legs do not rest against anything and the knees are not behind the ears - it is comfortable. The rear passengers are a little cramped, but more comfortable than in the 14th, there are more seats and a more comfortable seat with a back. When your wife is driving and if you sit behind her, then at least cross your legs. Velor seats, friends say much better than in VAZs - they work with fabric. The seats are higher than in VAZs, so you sit on the seat, and do not fall to the floor, respectively, your legs do not get numb and do not get tired. The seat profile is quite successful, I feel comfortable, my back does not ache. In VAZs, I had to give them to be remade for me. Velor is easy to clean, like a carpet (or whatever it is) on the floor with an ordinary car vacuum cleaner.

Engine and gearbox.

0.8 liters and 51 horses. I bought a car without a test drive and thought that it would crawl, not ride. Although I spoke with a couple of owners, they say it's normal, enough. When I went myself, I didn’t even think that 3 pots and 51 horses could carry like that, probably thoroughbred horses. The engine runs quite quietly, you can’t hear it in the cabin, it’s noticeably quieter on the street than the 14th. The engine does not cause any trouble, it always starts and takes us to the right place. There was no big fear that in winter it would be cool in the cabin, and not warm, as in the 14th, but the stove showed itself well done, the cabin was not just warm, but very hot (if the stove was set to maximum heat). I honestly didn't expect this. The gearbox will switch clearly, the clutch is very soft and informative, the leg does not get tired in traffic jams.

Trunk.

Not big, but food is easy to bring. There is no dacha, so I don’t drive construction materials and harvest.

There was a case. My mother's washing machine broke down, and my brother and I decided that it was better to buy a new one, so we went to the store. We bought a typewriter (normal depth), a vacuum cleaner, because it is also old and a heater (cool at home). The movers put everything on a trolley and roll it to the car, and everything is in the package!!! In the car, a children's satchel with a tool (it's a habit, not for myself - I'll help others, there were cases that I had to be repaired on the highway on a service Audi A6). When they approached the Matiz, they whinnied, and when we put everything there (there was room for a couple more vacuum cleaners and heaters), having folded the seat accordingly, they had a stupor. And we closed the trunk and went home. Having brought the equipment home, my mother was stunned, she was told that they took it on credit and she did not owe anything, she was very emotional. She would not immediately understand such a waste of cash, but she was explained that it all costs a penny and 500 rubles / month is not burdensome for us, although they laid out almost 70,000 rubles. We love mom.

Chassis.

Because the body is high, the manufacturer deliberately made the shock absorbers stiff, and even with gas pressure (high-pressure gas-oil). What I did myself - I did everything, except for TO-1

TO-1 was held by an official, I bought oil with a filter in a store, because. they are noticeably more expensive, they carried out the work - a guarantee. Further, I decided not to go to MOT at all, by this time Matiz had studied in more detail from other owners, i.e. told as it is, after all - matizovod. I noticed that Matizovody are friendly, not like VAZovody. I do everything according to the regulations and on time, because I do not want to sell the car, fell in love.

I parted from VAZs without regret, but here it pulls like a magnet, well, I can’t and don’t want to sell, although there were several moments when I really needed money and put it up for sale. But when the buyer comes to see how I give a part of myself. Never sold to anyone. He got out with money. Something got distracted.

Almost immediately I replaced the cassette player with an MP3 with USB, replaced the front speakers and installed a 10 inch subwoofer. The sound has definitely improved.

I will not choose the time to make vibration-noise isolation and make a rear shelf with the replacement of these speakers.

In the autumn we bought winter tires, we also wanted casting for the summer, but we decided not to take them (we will overboard), I liked Gislaved NF 5 tires very much. I even liked Gislaved NF 5 more than Nokia hack 4.

Replaced all shock absorbers once. Long did not pass, about 15,000 km. Then he spat and decided to repair it himself, released gas, changed the oil to normal, the main thing is that a competent argon operator is needed. Now the song, am working as it should. The previous ams did not flow, they just didn’t work well on the end. I myself regulate the valves in the cylinder head, "a little" understanding the car, redid the intake and exhaust. Now 60 horses (outwardly as from the factory), + 0.5 l affected fuel consumption a little, and the dynamics ... have changed a lot for the better. I would like to put fur. blower, but nowhere, sorry.

General (total).

Gasoline filled 92 for a short time, switched to 95 ecto from Lukoil, more dynamic and less consumption. The average consumption is 7.5 l / 100km. Maximum 12l / 100km, min 3.7 l / 100km Everything was checked in the city (and strongly depends on the degree of traffic congestion) - flooded, drove, flooded, counted. This includes driving with air conditioning, warming up at auto start (I always start the car 20 minutes before driving), as well as a sharp ride (I love this business). Just don’t scold me, I’m a professional, I can quickly and very safely, there are few of them, but many consider themselves to be so (now there will be screams that all professionals, etc., etc., and there are so many accidents and deaths on the roads). Believe me, I am a professional, if not on a global scale, but still. During my short experience (12 years) I have traveled more than 2 million km, I am not a truck driver, I have seen both joy and sorrow. I replaced the regular wheels 155/65 with 165/70, I stopped feeling many bumps, became clearer 0 (zero) and noticeably improved handling and directional stability. Comfortable, not annoying speed - 120 km / h, not counting the traffic police. Was once a sinner, checked max. the speed of the car, according to the speedometer, there was no GPS, which is a pity. So 180 km / h, does not go further. The track is closed, everything is safe for others.

The most interesting thing is the repair and everything connected with it

2 times I changed the boot of the CV joint, right outside, the 1st time I broke it myself, the 2nd time I changed it, I put a non-original (rubber) one. the original was not, but could not wait 2 days. 2nd time put the original (plastic). - 500r. Like orig. so no.

There were several accidents, not my fault:

1 - One car cut off another car, and the car that was cut crushed the front left fender and touched the door a little (wife was driving), she was driving in the right lane.

2 - Evening, the car is in the parking lot, I crawl under the covers, yelled the key fob (reception radius is 1500 m), I go to the balcony, the car is 200 meters away, I hear it screaming and blinking. "Matiz" was bought in "UzDaewooAvtoService" on Dubininskaya (Moscow) in August 2003 for trips from home to work. Previous car: VAZ-21043.
Complete set "to the maximum": power steering, air conditioning, windshield wiper on the rear door, built-in car radio (4 speakers), power windows, 4-position head wiper mode switch, central locking, trunk shelf, alloy wheels, arches for the roof rack.
Additional equipment on site: fog lights, digital tachometer, "native" anti-theft, opening the tailgate with a key fob button, deflectors on the side doors, anticorrosive with fender liner.
Additionally bought in the same place: "native" Matiz-sport floor mats in the cabin and in the trunk, seat covers with an insert under the lower back (for the driver), by the way, I highly recommend.
For all this, plus full insurance and OSAGO (separately) in RESO-Garantia, as well as self-registration with the traffic police, 9260 killed raccoons ($) were spent almost at a time.
Later added: NF3 winter tires studded with stamped "native" wheels (6280 rubles for 4 wheels), an armrest between the front seats that fit perfectly, even in the color of the finish (890 rubles), a spoiler on the tailgate, like the Korean Matiz ( 1350 rubles + 900 rubles paint), roof rack (Polish) ($ 90), over-door handles ("native") in the cabin for rear passengers (32 rubles);
Additionally, before the start of winter, the following was done: treatment of thresholds and rims with transparent anti-gravity, treatment of the entire body with a protective polish, treatment of electrical wires and contacts under the hood with a moisture-displacing protective compound, treatment of door seals and parts of locks with silicone grease, treatment of plastics in the cabin with antistatic, treatment of tires with a protective compound ( all processing is done independently).
Passed the 1st and 2nd MOT on Dubininskaya. Costs: for the first maintenance - 2070 rubles, for the second - 3081 rubles. At the same time, he brought his own engine oil (WellRun HTS FullSintetic 5w40). At the second MOT, I additionally changed the oil in the gearbox to WellRun SynthGear 75w90 (820 rubles with work).
At the moment, 10,000 km have been covered (85% in Moscow, 15% - in the region, in the direction of Mozhaisk and Dubna), I have not traveled further yet. Basically, Matiz rolls two people (me and my wife), there was one case - five drove, about 2 km.
My driving style is "neat". I love comfort, I don't like "sport" and "sportsmen" on the Moscow streets.
Homegrown measurements of gasoline consumption gave the following results: highway (90-120 km / h) ~ 5.3-5.4 l, city ~ 6.8-7.4 l (it is difficult to measure more precisely). Consumption is highly dependent on driving style and vehicle load. Air conditioning, in my opinion, does not affect so much, although I traveled relatively little with it (not to the heat in winter!).
Monthly costs for the AI-95 ranged from 900 to 1400 rubles / month. I refuel constantly at the MTK (next to the house).
What was a plus for me:
(1) Comfort in motion (smooth, smooth without vibrations and mechanical noises, especially on alloy wheels), i.e. Nice. There is no comparison with WHA! Pleases power steering on such a baby;
(2) The cabin is spacious for the driver and each of the passengers (3 pieces, no more ...) in all directions (my height is 182 cm, weight ~ 100 kg);
(3) Accelerating dynamics - at the level of "tens", although racing is not my profile. Max. the speed of comfortable movement is 120 km / h, and more is possible, but only on a super-smooth road, which I have come across few and not long;
(4) In the "small" trunk fit 2-3 considerable households. bags with groceries for a week for a family of 5 people, and a 200 cm long Christmas tree in the salon (without bending);_
(5) The electrics are perfectly balanced: during winter operation with a mass of consumers turned on, the on-board voltage almost does not change (I have the opposite experience on the VAZ classic);
(6) Quick warm-up of the cabin in cold weather, in general, good climate control both in front and behind, while the stove fan works almost silently (!);
(7) Super effective use of air conditioner to defrost windows in damp cold weather (by the way, windows fog up more when it's damp than when it's cold).
Noticed cons:
(1) the rear passenger doors do not open wide enough to make it difficult for elderly or large people to get out from the rear;
(2) fuzzy "crunchy" switching to second / first gear from third (or second, respectively), they say - the "signature disease" of this checkpoint, I will figure it out in the summer (of course, in comparison with the VAZ-classic, my fuzziness is not great) ;
(3) when turning to the left, the left A-pillar "strains" somewhat, blocking some of the most interesting things on such turns;
(4) it is customary to praise the Matiz brakes - my impressions are as follows: the brakes are excellent with light braking and, if desired, stop smoothly and comfortably: pedal efforts are minimal, the degree of braking is adequate; if you need a sharp or, God forbid, emergency braking, suddenly (!) you find that you are pressing very hard, but it slows down - not very much, and you need to have time to push even harder;
(5) in wet weather, the rear window is heavily soiled, without a rear wiper, there is nothing to do on a dirty road;
(6) in the main set there are no such useful instruments and indicators as a tachometer, an indicator of open doors (I put it as an additional equipment) and an indicator of the glass washer fluid level.
As inevitable, it is accepted:
(1) Windshield wipers in three different lengths;
(2) Solid (not split) rear sofa back;
(3) Appetite for the machine, somewhat in excess of the claims of the advertisement;
(4) Lack of ABS and airbags.
"Grieves" that happened in half a year:
(1) In the first month after an hour of driving at night with the lights on + fog lights, the fuse for the head light burned out. It turned out to be 20A. Replaced with 25A, since then everything is fine.
(2) The rear seat belt jammed in the cabin at the time of sale. They did it under warranty, but ... only at TO2, despite constant requests before that ...
(3) In winter, the hood "caught" a stone that jumped out from under the wheel of a proudly racing Toy-eta. The result is a chip on the hood in the form of a circle with a diameter of 0.5 cm to the ground. I'll do it soon.
(4) At the end of winter, the black paint on the roof bar brackets began to peel off. I also need to paint...
