What engines are on the Skoda Octavia A7. Skoda Octavia A7 — continuation of glorious traditions

The 3rd generation Skoda Octavia (A7 body) was one of the first to receive the new MQB modular platform as a base. The car body is a light and rigid load-bearing structure, 26.2% made of ultra-high-strength steels. In Euro NCAP safety tests, the car confidently earned the maximum five stars.

The Skoda Octavia A7, whose sales began in 2013, is characterized by an abundance of modifications formed by various combinations of bodies, power units and transmissions. So, along with the classic versions of Skoda Octavia (liftback) and Skoda Octavia Combi (station wagon), there are off-road modifications (station wagon with increased ground clearance and all-wheel drive), as well as sports variations and Octavia Combi RS.

A new model from Skoda entered the Russian market exclusively with turbocharged engines. In the arsenal of a conventional liftback at the time of the start of sales were the following units:

  • 1.2 TSI 105 HP, 175 Nm. Combined with 5MKPP or "robot" 7DSG.
  • 1.4 TSI 140 HP, 250 Nm. It works in tandem with a 6-speed "mechanics" or a 7-band DSG.
  • 1.8 TSI 180 HP, 250 Nm. A pair of gearboxes is the same as that of the 140-horsepower turbo engine.
  • 2.0 TDI 143 HP, 320 Nm. The only diesel is aggregated with a 6-speed DSG robotic transmission.

All listed configurations were available for both liftback and station wagon. However, the Octavia Combi also had one all-wheel drive version with a 1.8 TSI 180 hp engine. and 6-speed DSG.

During the revision of the engine range in 2014-2015, the Skoda Octavia A7 not only acquired a new base engine, but also received upgraded versions of the remaining ones. The current line of engines for today includes units:

  • 1.6 MPI 110 HP, 155 Nm. The atmospheric unit with distributed injection replaced the turbocharged “four” 1.2 TSI. Since September 2015, the engine has been assembled in Kaluga and, in addition to Octavia, is installed on and.
  • 1.4 TSI 150 HP, 250 Nm.
  • 1.8 TSI 180 HP, 250 Nm.
  • 2.0 TDI 150 HP, 320 Nm.

All-wheel drive is still available, along with a 180-horsepower turbo engine and 6DSG, only for the Skoda Octavia Combi station wagon.

The upgraded TSI units perform well in terms of gasoline economy. The fuel consumption of the Skoda Octavia A7 1.4 TSI averages 5.3-5.5 liters, the version with the 1.8 TSI engine consumes about 6-6.2 liters, the diesel modification burns no more than 5 liters per 100 km.

The cargo compartment of the hatchback with the rear seats raised holds 568 liters, with the folded - 1558 liters. The trunk volume of the Skoda Octavia A7 Combi station wagon is only slightly larger - 588 and 1718 liters, respectively.

For the Skoda Octavia, the variety of engines to be fitted is awe-inspiring to anyone who encounters this world famous model for the first time. One of the most important characteristics of engines is their service life or reliability, as well as dynamic performance. Today we will talk about the power units that are installed on the Skoda Octavia, their features and voice the thoughts of the owners regarding each of the motors in the form of reviews.

Brief information

As already mentioned, the Skoda Octavia A7 engine line includes several power units at once - 1.2, 1.4, 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 liters. In addition to petrol versions, there are also several TDI powertrains that are less popular in our country.

The 1.2 TSI engine on the A7 has 105 horsepower. The manufacturer managed to achieve such an enviable figure through the use of a unique high-pressure boost technology.

Moreover, all cars equipped with a 1.2 engine have a start / stop system, so that even in the most active driving mode, fuel consumption will not exceed a critical mark of 5.2 liters.

The 1.4 turbo engine on the A7 has more power than the 1.2 - it packs an enviable 140 horsepower. But the fuel consumption here is somewhat higher - paired with a manual transmission, the figure is about 5.5 liters per 100 kilometers. However, this indicator easily pays off with such indicators as: acceleration to 100 kilometers per hour and maximum speed, which are in no way inferior to the TDI version with similar indicators.

The 1.6 TSI engine is the only naturally aspirated model in the line that the A7 inherited from the previous generation. Despite the fact that the volume of this engine is much larger than the 1.2 TSI and 1.4 TSI, the 1.6 engine produces only 110 horsepower. However, the popularity of this version is explained by the extremely high reliability of this power unit and its long service life.

The 1.8 turbo engine is one of the supercharged options with high power and torque. So, unlike the previous generation, instead of 150 forces, 180 are observed here. The 2.0 TSI engine, unlike 1.8, has a power of 220 forces.

Economy versions

The power units supplied to the Skoda Octavia are highly publicized on the net and on thematic forums. This gave everyone interested in the reliability of the Skoda Octavia the opportunity to carefully study the reviews of the owners and draw the appropriate conclusions, which of the motors is more reliable and why.

The first and smallest motor has a volume of 1.2. Most of all, the owners of such a car are afraid of performance, insufficient turbine power and too little power.

Athanasius. Ownership - 1 year.

When I came to the car dealership for my Skoda, I was sure that I would take version 2.0TDI with manual transmission, which at that time seemed to me the most economical and reliable. The manager actively convinced me that it was the 1.2 turbo version, which has 105 hp paired with mechanics, that was the most successful option for me. Now that mySkodaOctavia with automatic transmission has traveled more than 50 thousand kilometers, I can say with confidence: for me it is much better than 2.0TDI.

There is enough traction for the eyes, and the consumption is more than 7 liters in the urban cycle, paired with automatic transmission - this is the norm for my car. The only question that caused me certain concerns was the technical stuffing itself: it was hard to believe that the 1.2 motor was capable of not failing for a long time. And so it turned out: at 20 thousand, the turbine whistled suspiciously, and then an error appeared on the instrument panel. As it turned out, the supercharger failed: they changed it under warranty and asked to refuel only with proven fuel in order to avoid problems with 1.2.

However, practice shows that supercharged small engines have a more complex device and a larger amount of electronic filling.

Owners of Skoda Octavia 1.4 with automatic transmission and manual transmission in their reviews often note that from replacement to replacement, you have to add engine oil more than once, which is frankly expensive.

Here is one review that might clear up this nebulous situation:

Andrey. Ownership - 2 years.

I have a Skoda Octavia with a 1.4 engineTSI 105 hp and automatic gearbox. In principle, the car suits me - the 1.4 has excellent traction, 105 forces is enough for the eyes, it does not fail either in the city or on the highway. The machine also behaves quite clearly: after the last car with a motorTDI 140 forces it seems that you are driving a car a class higher. The only possible trouble, as far as I understood from the reviews of the owners of cars 1.4, is the consumption of engine oil in excessively small volumes.

To check if 1.4 is validTSI eats oil on solid runs, I decided to wait until the run reaches the mark of 50 thousand kilometers. Imagine my surprise when my car 1.4 did not reach the next MOT. I had to top up, and at the same time check the oil level in the automatic gearbox: fortunately, I did not find such problems there.

Big displacement - big worries

While the small-displacement versions are just beginning to gain popularity, such a “dinosaur” for the Skoda Octavia, like the 1.6 TSI engine, judging by the reviews, managed to become one of the classic options installed on this car.

As noted, the MPI engine does not have a turbo, and therefore the 110 horsepower limit was the maximum for the MPI. Nevertheless, even on a car with automatic transmission, it was possible to achieve good dynamics, which is noted in the reviews of the owners of the 1.6 110 hp car themselves.

Eugene. Ownership - 2 years.

My previous car is A5MPI, like the current one, had a 1.6 engineTSI 110 hp. All the years that I was lucky enough to own a car with a 1.6 engineMPI, I can name one of the best. I confess, at first I considered the powerMPI of 110 forces is insufficient for a 1.6 engine, and even more so for pairing with an automatic transmission:MT for this motor considered a better choice.

However, in reality it turned out quite the opposite. 110 MPI forces are enough for me to overcome climbs and make sharp accelerations. At the same time, the machine behaves quite adequately and is perfectly integrated with the 1.6 MPI engine, for which 110 hp turned out to be more than enough.

The 1.8 turbo power unit, which does not have 110 horsepower, like MPI, but 150 horsepower on the A5 and 180 on the A7, is one of the flagships of the entire line. With adequate fuel consumption, the manufacturer managed to achieve optimal performance 1.8, which the owners of this car note in their reviews.

Alexander. Ownership - 2 years.

MySkodaOctavia 1.8 automatic transmission with 180 horses under the hood completely suits me. The point is not only that the automatic transmission here is robotic, therefore it provides the 1.8 turbo with the opportunity to deploy all its 180 forces and provide an opportunity to enjoy driving.

Main advantageSkodaOctavia 1.8 for 180 forces - low fuel consumption paired with good traction and torque. Even when working with automatic transmission 1.8 behaves acceptable, does not give failures and unexpected loss of power, as in some versionsTDI 140 hp.

The 2.0 engine on the A7 has only two modifications: a TDI with a capacity of 140 forces and a sports one, which no longer has 180, but 220 forces.

Artem. Ownership - 3 years.

MySkodaOctavia RS has a 2.0 engine. Arriving at a car dealership, I was sure that a 180-horsepower engine would be enough for me. However, after taking a test drive, I quickly realized that the 2.0 was the only right choice for me. Unlike version 2.0TDI, there is almost twice as much power and good torque. Moreover, the work of 2.0 paired with automatic transmission is beyond praise: I think that the versionMT of this configuration is useless.

Summing up

All presented versions of Skoda engines are worthy of attention and are interesting in their own way. This car model is attractive in that both those who need an economical car and those who crave speed and high dynamics can find the necessary version of the power unit for themselves: more powerful versions are extremely reliable and also have good potential.

This car won love and respect among car owners of all CIS countries. This is not surprising, because for many years it provides the most favorable ratio between prestige and price! So the new model Skoda Octavia A7 (we wrote about the previous one), there is no doubt that it will not shame its predecessors, because it has absorbed all the best and has become even a little better.

Reviews about Skoda Octavia:

Exterior:

  • It is made in the best traditions of the Volkswagen Group. Smooth lines, deliberate modesty, successfully combined with style, charisma and solidity - this is the impression the new A7 makes. In profile, it is very similar to a sedan, the branded radiator grill has not gone away, a modest and solid feed is decorated with the same lights. Truly - "Simply brilliant!".
  • The station wagon is less popular, but created according to the same principles - rationalism is at the head of the image.
  • However, such formality may not be to everyone's liking. The classic and, to some extent, bland design will obviously not appeal to lovers of eccentric and stylish sports cars from Japan and France, although in terms of dynamics, Octavia can outperform many of them ...

Engines:

Traditionally for the German automotive industry, a wide range of power units is presented, among which there are both gasoline and diesel.

The 1.2-liter petrol tank opens the list. Despite the modest volume, its performance is impressive - thanks to the turbocharging, the engine power is 105 hp. s, and a torque of 175 Nm! Moreover, it is already available from 1400 rpm. It accelerates the car to hundreds in 10.3 seconds, which is very good for such a modest volume. Even with him at the crossroads, you won’t have to look at the feet of the leaders.

Next comes a turbocharged, 1.4-liter gasoline unit. It is even more powerful - 140 "horses" under the hood and as much as 250 Nm of thrust, which is available from 1500 rpm! Not all competitors can come close to such figures. Acceleration to hundreds in 8.4 seconds. impressive … This is ideal for the city and for the track.

Well, the 1.8TSI engine became the most powerful and fastest. This "beast" produces 180 hp. With. and has a diesel thrust of 250 Nm, and it is available from the very bottom - from 1250 rpm! 7.3 sec. up to 100 km/h! With it, you can leave behind all the assorted bullies at traffic lights. In addition, all these engines are not only powerful and high-torque, but also very economical - gasoline consumption does not exceed 6.4 liters when driving in a combined cycle.

The 2-liter, 143-horsepower turbodiesel also stands somewhat apart. It just has a huge torque of 320 Nm, and it produces maximum traction in the optimal operating range - from 1750 to 3000 rpm. At the same time, fuel consumption is surprisingly low - only 5 liters in the city-highway cycle. However, despite the fact that it consumes diesel fuel, with acceleration to a hundred in 8.9 seconds. such an engine will leave behind many "gasoline".

  • The disadvantages of such power units include the complexity of the design and, as a result, the high cost of operation and repair, as well as the big risks when buying a car in the secondary market - Octavia A7 may require a serious application of hands and resources ...

Gearbox, suspension and drive:

With regard to the chassis, different versions have serious differences. The front suspension for all modifications is made according to the standard and time-tested McPherson scheme. As for the rear, the modification with the 1.8TSI engine has an independent multi-link. In all other cases, a torsion beam is installed at the rear. In principle, even the beam fully justifies itself in terms of handling, however, the presence of a top-end engine of 180 “horses” obliges ... Only front-wheel drive is available in pair with such a suspension.

With gearboxes, everything is also not easy. The car can be equipped with either “mechanics” or “automatic”, but this is not a traditional torque converter, but a preselective transmission that provides dynamics and economy that are not worse, and sometimes even better than with a “handle”. In addition, there are no shocks and pauses characteristic of a conventional automatic transmission when switching.

The number of gears in the manual transmission varies - if the weakest version with a 1.2 TSI engine has a 5-speed gearbox, then all other gasoline modifications are equipped with MT with 6 gears. What is most interesting - manual transmission is not provided for diesel engines at all.

DSG can also be different - petrol models are equipped with a 7-band gearbox, while only a 6-band is available for a turbodiesel.

  • Such a variety of choices, of course, cannot but rejoice, but for the owner this abundance can turn into a considerable expense. If questions almost never arise for a manual transmission, then with regard to preselective transmissions, there are more than enough of them. When driving for a long time, the box heats up, jerks and jerks appear when switching from 2nd to 3rd gear. In addition, this type of gearbox is extremely expensive to repair due to the complexity of the design and relative novelty. Therefore, when purchasing a car with DSG, maintenance must be carried out exclusively at the dealer and not “fly off” the warranty.

Interior:

Salon is made in German soundly and efficiently. As in the exterior, officialdom prevails in the interior. The layout of the controls is thought out as if the car is made for each client individually - you can use the keys and dials with your eyes closed. The seats are very comfortable, the “tidy” reads perfectly, the steering wheel fits nicely in your hands, there is enough space in the back for three passengers, and you can take 568 liters of luggage on the way (1558 liters with the rear sofa unfolded!).

  • However, the story with the appearance may repeat itself - many do not like such "dryness" and rigor in the interior of the "Czech". Many note that the word design is alien to the creators of Skoda. However, the design is an amateur.

Prices:

The price for this car starts from 589,900 rubles. That's how much they ask for the basic version with a 1.2 TSI engine and manual transmission. For DSG, you will have to pay from 647,900 rubles. A 1.4-liter modification will cost from 764,900 rubles. for manual transmission and from 804,900 rubles. for AT. The top motor costs from 839,900 rubles. for "mechanics" and from 879,900 for "automatic". The price tag for diesel - from 924,900 rubles

The legendary Skoda Octavia turns 60 this year. It's time to remember the pros and cons of the latest, most current generation.

It's like Golf, only better.

Golf is one of the best-selling cars of the Old World and the main donor of VAG. From its base get Seat Leon, Audi A3, Golf Sportsvan and Tiguan. Octavia also borrowed the golf platform, but in a more sophisticated way.

Firstly, the Czechs found extra millimeters of legroom and liters for luggage, it would seem, where there is nowhere to get them from. Therefore, the Octavia has the most spacious trunk and rear sofa in the class.

Secondly, the developers of Skoda have thought through everything to the smallest detail. The A7 has smartphone holders in the ashtray and cup holders with ribbed bottoms that can be opened with one hand. Plus an ice scraper in the gas cap and optional dog harnesses! As a result, this is the most practical family car.

Why Octavia is better than competitors

The Skoda Octavia is a really practical car. Its advantages are a good overview for the driver, space for passengers, a roomy trunk for 568 liters. Plus, it's tech-savvy. This applies to:

  • overall lightness of the MQB platform;
  • suspension settings that make driving enjoyable;
  • gas response accuracy;
  • the rate of fire of the gearbox, after which, say, brand-new or Toyota CVTs will be simply painful.

It's better in filling. Back in 2013, the Octavia automatically kept itself in the lane and steered away from the markings if the driver was distracted or started to fall asleep. The Japanese offered analogues of the lane retention system only five years later.

The same with multimedia. From the very beginning, the A7 had different options for standard head units - from simple five-inch radios and "combines" to seven-inch "heads" with advanced navigation.

In general, despite the conservative look and family status, Octavia is no stranger to innovation and appeals to a wide range of buyers than competitors.

According to tradition, Octavia received:

  • two body types: liftback and station wagon;
  • six engines: 1.2; 1.4; 1.8; 2.0 turbo, naturally aspirated 1.6 and diesel 2.0;
  • two special versions: the sporty RS and the off-road Scout.

With 1.2 turbo A7 entered our market in 2013. The nameplate on such a large car is a frank mockery, although it gives out characteristics at the level of 1.6.

After 2014, on the Russian Octavia, 1.6 liters per 110 liters became the base. With. from the new EA211 line. Its differences from the old one are a timing chain drive, an aluminum cylinder block and an intake manifold built into the cylinder head.

The 1.4L and 1.8L turbo engines are similar in terms of torque (250 Nm) but differ in suspension combinations. With 1.4 there is a beam, at 1.8 there is a multi-link at the back. Multi-link "Octavia" are more versatile and better cope with changeable terrain.

Diesel 2.0 went unnoticed. A Russian person does not want such motors, and in vain. There is a frantic 320 N * m of thrust, a consumption of about 5 liters per 100 km along the highway and a minimum vibration load. Diesel "Octavia" lasted until the restyling of 2017 and went into oblivion.

Modifications

And since we are talking about the exotic, it's time to remember the charged RS and the worker-peasant version of the Scout. The hot hatch RS in this generation has a 2.0 turbo engine blown up to 220 hp. with., sports suspension settings, a sporty interior and a customizable exhaust sound. It turned out quickly and practically, so RS'ka used, albeit small, but steady demand.

Scout appeared last. This is a station wagon with a ground clearance of 171 mm, a phenomenal volume (588-1718 l) and a trunk layout, a protective body kit all around and all-wheel drive. In Russia, it is only available with 1.8 turbo.

All-wheel drive modifications of the A7, except for the Scout, are also found. Before restyling, only Combi was equipped with a 4x4 system with a Haldex coupling. After restyling, she appeared on liftbacks.

transmissions

In terms of transmissions, the Octavia A7 is a typical VW product. The initial versions are aggregated by mechanics, aspirated 1.6 - by a 6-band Aisin automatic. Paired with small turbo engines (1.2 TSI and 1.4 TSI), a seven-speed DSG robot works, with older gasoline and diesel engines - a six-speed one.

The differences between transmissions are significant:

  • Aisin automatic machines at Skoda Octavia are the most durable and non-capricious. Of the minuses - you need to change the oil more often and avoid overheating, since the valve body and clutches do not like high temperatures.
  • Seven-speed DSGs have a reputation for being the most flawed, which is not always true. After 2012, VW revised their design, and after 2014-2015. the number of complaints about crumbling clutches and mechatronics has dropped dramatically.
  • Sores in the six-speed DSG "Skoda Octavia" are minimal. They are more tenacious, because the clutches work there in an oil bath, that is, they better tolerate mechanical and thermal loads.

Difficulties of choice and disadvantages of the Skoda Octavia

Complaints cause turbo engines. But if you look at the total circulation of cars sold, it becomes clear that you should not take to heart talk about the fragility of turbines or oil burners. In general, Octavia are hardy and strong. The rest are exceptions to the rules, often resulting from improper operation.

The reliability of the car is evidenced by its demand in taxi companies. Almost every seventh Octavia, as shown by an analysis of 40 random reports requested through March to May, works in a taxi. Such a Skoda Octavia is not suitable for buying. Too shabby both morally and technically, it can be leased or pledged and have a bunch of other problems:

The most common problems for a used A7, according to Avtokod's statistics, are the calculation of repairs (18 out of 40), accidents (14 out of 40) and unpaid fines (7 out of 40). There were instances with twisted mileage - 3 out of 40 and a duplicate TCP (2 out of 40). 2 cars turned out to be collateral, 5 were leased.

Prices for Skoda Octavia A7 in the secondary market

Pre-styling A7 are richly presented. You can find all motors, special versions, option packages. 1.2 TSI + DSG is the smallest option. The price varies from 400 to 725 thousand rubles for copies with a mileage of no more than 60 thousand km.

1.4 TSI+DSG are more common. Prices range from 450 thousand for pre-styling versions to more than 1.4 million for restyled copies.

Variations with 1.8 and 2.0 TSI and DSG engines are sold in the range of 459 thousand -1.6 million rubles.

For RS they ask from 360 to 980 thousand.

The average price tag for Scouts is 857 thousand rubles:

Is it worth buying

Concluding the review, let's say that it's worth taking the Skoda Octavia. It is comfortable, spacious and ideal for a family. If you are looking for an affordable copy for 350-400 thousand, take a closer look at a car with a 1.6-liter aspirator. But keep in mind that most of these have a taxi background and huge mileage.

If you want to "light up", take the RS, if you want to drive far and with a full trunk - Scout. But in the first case, the car can be tired from two-pedal starts at traffic lights, in the second - from long runs to the Kola Peninsula and back.

When choosing, see ads from private traders, and not in a soulless trade-in. And to be calm, check the history of the Skoda A7. After all, a family car should give peace of mind.

Owner reviews

Great design. Large spacious lounge. Excellent soundproofing. Just a huge and roomy trunk of the correct form. Good ground clearance with PPD suspension (even in the database). Electronic assistance systems are even in the database. Good visibility. Salon without surplus, as they say, simple and boring, but I just like it - there is no surplus and cheap Chinese. The plastic of the torpedo is soft.

A high-torque engine that has not eaten a single gram of oil at the moment (it is confirmed on the forums that the 1.8 TSI no longer eats oil). Economical, on the highway it easily fit into 6 liters, and in the city an average of 9 liters. It is possible to disable auxiliary systems. Separate climate control. Various pockets and drawers. Heated washer nozzles are a very useful thing in winter.

The plastic on the doors is still hard, but it does not make noise and is pleasant to the eye, on the other hand, it is easier to wash it. Factory radio. The passenger seat in front is a little higher, this is not usual.

Video review

Reliability, good handling, comfort, fuel consumption, reasonable prices for spare parts and maintenance.

On the downside: that's what the designers (or engineers, or marketers) of Skoda thought when they placed the filler neck for the washer fluid and the attachment point of the "poker" to hold the hood in one place?

Further, the aerodynamics of the body in the area of the mirrors: five minutes of driving at a decent speed in rainy weather and that's it - you can't see anything in the mirrors, and there is a thick layer of dirt on the glasses (namely in the area of \u200b\u200bthe mirrors). The next point is a small fuel tank (about 45 liters). And finally, the rear beam.

Konstantin Goncharov, drives Skoda Octavia 2.0d (143 hp) AT 2013

Economical and high-torque engine. Roomy trunk.

Lottery collection. Doors don't close well. Radiator knock when going over bumps. Bad soundproofing. Strong rolls in corners and poor stability on the track. Frequent breakdowns of the rear suspension. Glitches Bolero in the cold.

Review of Skoda Octavia A7 1.4 mechanics 2014 onwards

Suspension moderately hard, constantly hurts back. With equipment, everything is good. Bixenon -theme, speakerphone - theme, heated seats. Pumped up the sound. Be sure to rustle the arches and doors, which I actually did.

For 6,500 km, I added 400 grams of oil - the verdict: eats little. The trunk is large — everything is clear here. The brakes are good, but God forbid you overheat. Everything is fine with DSG, only the sound when driving over bumps is like a bucket of bolts attached to the car.

Sound. Established system frank g ... about. The speakers are Made in China, apparently made from pressed monkey poop. I installed an active subwoofer under the seat and it fixed things a bit. This minus will not affect the owners of Canton - everything is in order with the speakers and sound.

Some elements of the interior look cheap. Saving on small things. There is no insulation under the hood, a gas stop for the hood, there were no floor mats in the car for 1 million! Kick me that I'm crazy, but there should be rugs!

Where can I buy?

Particularly impressive 1.4 turbo engine, super dynamics! Trunk, handling, efficiency and cool dynamics. In general, there are solid pluses in the car ... And I would be happy and happy, but after almost a year, the question arose about “draining” this car into a trade-in due to the unreliable DSG 7 box.

Three clutch changes in 9 months! Mileage less than 30,000 km. Before buying, I read about the problems of this box, but so much so! This is the main disadvantage that covers a bunch of small jambs, such as bad noise, a howling kondeya compressor, poor body rigidity (when the car is on an uneven surface, the doors do not open / close), glitches of the Bolero touch radio in wet weather (it switches radio stations by itself, does not respond on pressing) and many others.

But these are all trifles, in comparison with the eternal breakdowns of one of the main components of the car - the gearbox.

Ilya Popov, review of Skoda Octavia 1.4 (140 hp) automatic transmission 2013

I compare with the previous Octavia. The car has become a little larger, the dynamics are the same, given that there is an automatic here. Eats an average of 1-1.5 liters less. Based on the reviews, I expected that this engine would burn oil. Fears were not justified. Three times pah. The trunk is just as big, but in the wagon it is much more practical.

Heavy trunk lid. If it is covered with snow, then it is hard to lift it to get the brush from the trunk. With this engine, there is a beam at the back. In winter, on sharp turns, at increased speed, the rear tries to skid. In the previous ones, there was an independent suspension, and the car entered the turns like it was on rails. Slightly stiff suspension. It's the shock absorbers.

There were many cars, but for the first time on the machine. Sensitive upshifts (from 1st to 2nd and then to 3rd speed) to a cold one were embarrassing, but as soon as the box warms up, the shocks disappear. Dealers said that's how automatics work. Now I'm used to it.

Review of Skoda Octavia 1.6 (110 hp) with automatic 2016

Engine 1.8 180 horses very impressed. Huge power reserve at any speed. Trips on the highway have become just a walk. Overtaking has become elementary - 3 seconds and that's it! Consumption on the highway is less than 7 liters at speeds of 130-150 and the air conditioner on, in the city - 10 liters.

Very comfortable box, in normal mode, in sports. Very soft shifting, fast response to the gas pedal. The stabilization system is generally fire!

The car is very stable on the road - 80 km / h is like a walk. Manageability is excellent. And, of course, the liftback body! Huge trunk! This is a great family car with the ability to dynamically ride.
