Concerned about comfort and performance
In 1972, the car received a redesign with a comfortable, sprung cab. This improved the working conditions of the operator, but did not allow to place the fuel tank of a significant volume in the same place.
The developers moved to the left side, moving the cab to the right of the axis of the machine. Thanks to this decision, the DT-75K tractor acquired a peculiar appearance and received the popular nickname "Postman". The tank hanging on the left looked like a bag of letters slung over his shoulder. But there were other differences:
- To simplify maintenance, changes were made to the design of the suspension in the arrangement of external balancers located on the right side.
- The pre-heater PZHB-200, offered as an additional equipment, made it easier to start in the cold.
- The rear lifting mechanism received a limiting turn of the levers upwards and a modified fastening of the ends of the front struts to the frame.
- The supporting device, controlled from the driver's seat, protected the DT-75K tractor from turning over when working on steep slopes.
In 1975, the design was corrected again, retaining the layout with a side fuel tank. The upgraded SMG-14 engine has become more powerful - 80 hp. With. - and more economical - 185 g / l. With. h.
Such a power unit was labeled SMG-14NG. The changes made increased the weight of the machine to 6440 kg, and the pressure on the ground - up to 0.049 MPa.
