In the same year, the rear-wheel drive version of the LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni was added to the lineup, it was not as powerful (550 hp), but it cost a little cheaper than all-wheel drive cars.
Another small restyling of the model was carried out in 2012, but this time the changes affected only the appearance of the supercar. In this form, Gallardo was produced until the end of 2013, becoming the most massive Lamborghini in history - a total of 14,022 cars were made. The successor to the model was a supercar.

Gallardo has a rear engine layout. The engine is located with the flywheel back, the box ("mechanics" or "robot", both 6-speed) is located in the rear overhang. Until 2007, a five-liter V-shaped engine with 10 cylinders was used. In different versions (exclusively atmospheric), he developed from 500 to 530 forces. In the latter case, we are talking about the Superleggera modification, in which, thanks to the use of carbon fiber (even the seats are made of it) and the lightening of components and assemblies, the curb weight was reduced by 100 kg. With the advent of the updated version of the LP560-4, the engine volume was increased by 200 "cubes", the power reached 550-570 hp. With. The lightest modification of the Superleggera has become even more use of aluminum and carbon fiber parts, as a result, the maximum speed has increased to 325 km / h, and acceleration to 100 km / h will now take 3.4 seconds.
Gallardo is based on an aluminum space frame and independent double wishbone suspensions made of the same metal. Despite the fact that one of the features of Lamborghini is four-wheel drive (the front wheels get torque due to the viscous coupling), the LP550-2 versions were rear-wheel drive. The Gallardo has a short rear overhang and decent front overhang, but options include an adjustable suspension that allows more clearance under the front bumper, resulting in less risk of hitting the pavement when negotiating obstacles.
Of the security systems in the Gallardo equipment includes driver and passenger airbags, as well as side airbags and curtain airbags. The front passenger airbag has a deactivation function. From other systems and equipment: stiffeners, belts with tensioners, a variety of electronic systems: anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control systems, tire pressure monitoring, dynamic cornering lighting.
It can be noted that in technical terms, the Gallardo has much in common with another serial Audi R8 supercar, and both cars mutually enrich each other in various nuances, but even with existing family ties, the Lamborghini name itself speaks for itself. The fact that the Gallardo is more driver-friendly than ever has only added to the model's popularity.
