in engine oils Castrol long life for AUDI A6 (C7) used a special set of additives. Thanks to him, the manufacturer promises to preserve all the properties of his premium (EDGE) product throughout the entire period until the next MOT. In some European countries, when filling this oil, it is allowed to increase the service interval.

What should this oil do? Firstly, this is a reduction in engine noise, secondly, better lubricating properties, and thirdly, a reduction in fuel consumption. In fact, all manufacturers add such additives, but only the largest of them can afford to test on real samples and assemble the best kit.

That is why these brands are presented in our auto parts store. Buying them, you can be sure of the reliability and correctness of the choice.

Buy original Audi oil 5W30

Lubrication reduces friction between the mating surfaces of engine parts (cylinders, piston, camshaft). In addition, the working fluid contributes to fuel efficiency and increase the efficiency of the engine. To extend the life of the power unit, you need buy original oil Audi 5W30 and replace it regularly. Catalog numbers of branded products - G055195M4 And G055195M2.

Lubricant change

The fact is that there are lubricating components in the technical fluid that accumulate sediments, as well as combustion and friction products. Thus, the lubricant naturally becomes contaminated during the operation of the machine. Even the most expensive and high-quality product eventually loses its original characteristics and needs to be replaced.

You need to update the fluid regularly. It is necessary to fill in fresh branded oil at intervals prescribed in the vehicle's instructions and developed by German specialists, taking into account the peculiarities of the engine and operating conditions. At the same time, a new filter is installed during maintenance.

Product selection

The Audi tolerance system, developed by Volkswagen AG engineers, has the abbreviation VW 5 (XX.XX). The products comply with a certain class of standardized systems of the Association of American Automotive Engineers and the Association of European Automobile Manufacturers.

VW 504.00 engine oils are by far the most popular among the specifications for vehicles with gasoline engines. Products are recommended for cars with a standard service interval (15,000 km or 12 months) and with an extended Longlife (30,000 km or 24 months).

The approval also applies to the old VW 503.00 and VW 503.01 standards for gasoline engines. Therefore, cars of older years of manufacture can use products of the new series of approval. All products have one viscosity grade 5W30.

Specification VW 507.00 is the new VAG standard, which is designed for diesel modifications with or without a particulate filter. It contains a minimum of sulfate ash, phosphorus and sulfur, therefore, the service life of the filter element is significantly extended.

After acquiring an Audi, the driver faces the problem of choosing consumables, since not every car owner knows exactly what kind of oil to fill in an Audi of a particular model. After all, the duration of the engine and its quality indicators directly depend on the characteristics of the selected composition.

What kind of oil to fill in an Audi engine

In the service book of the Audi A6, the manufacturer advises the use of synthetic grease with a viscosity of 5W-30. Moreover, any concern can be a manufacturer, but not every owner of such an expensive car wants to use, for example, TNK or Lukoil.

You can find the original oil at the company's dealer or order it on the website on the Internet. You can also use the original Dexos 2 oil, especially since the viscosity class fully complies with the manufacturer's recommendations. But there is one problem with this. Such a lubricant is not approved for use with an Audi car. It can be used in machines:

  • fiat;
  • Opel;
  • Ford;
  • Volkswagen;
  • Mercedes;
  • Renault.

Audi is not on this list.

Of course, Dexos 2, manufactured by General Motors, is distinguished by its high quality. However, its properties have not been approved for use by Audi, so it is better to replace it with other brands.

Audi cars are produced "under the guidance" of the German auto giant Volkswagen. Hence the conclusion - it is necessary to use only oils that are approved for VW internal combustion engines. Among them, the leading positions are occupied by:

  • mobil,
  • Castrol,
  • Liqui Moly.

Mobil's range of lubricants contains several products that can be used in Audi regardless of the type of fuel.

Mobil 1 ESP Formula 5W-30

100% synthetic with minimal ash content. The company has approved this car oil for use in gasoline vehicles if it meets the 504 00 approval. For diesel engines, the properties must meet the 507 00 approval.

Mobil 1 0W-40

Synthetic product, can work with a gasoline unit if the quality complies with the 502 00 standard. For operation in a diesel engine, the tolerance must be at least 505 00.

Seasonal oils

In accordance with the American SAE viscosity standard, motor oils are divided into several classes:

  1. Winter - 5/10/15W.
  2. Summer - 30, 40, 50.

The intermediate grade is SAE 20W / 20.

In previous years, seasonal oil was considered the cheapest and almost universal - it was enough to choose the option corresponding to the operating season. It could be very viscous or, conversely, very liquid - depending on the purpose. But over time, this oil disappeared from store shelves. Sometimes it can be found in large fleets.

Universal, all-weather oil

Of course, the manufacturing technology of this lubricant product is much more complicated than a simple seasonal counterpart. Accordingly, its cost is much higher.

The special additives included in the composition greatly improve the viscosity index. A large number of molecules contained in such additives have the property of "swelling" when the engine is heated, and "narrowing" during cooling.

This property helps the lubricant adapt to temperature fluctuations. For example, when the temperature drops to -15, the composition of SAE 15W-50 with its characteristics fully corresponds to the viscosity value of 15W, when the temperature jumps to 100 Celsius, the viscosity is equated to class 50.

Mineral multigrade oils have one negative quality. Chains of molecules designed to improve the viscosity coefficient begin to decompose over time. As a result, the lubricant loses its resistance to temperature extremes. Therefore, it is highly recommended not to pour all-weather type oils (10W-30/40) into the Audi with the onset of summer.

Without lubricants, the friction forces arising between the rubbing elements of the motor would be much greater, the parts would heat up faster, as a result of which the power unit would jam. The use of lubricant contributes to the formation of a protective film on the internal elements of the engine, protects it from premature wear. We suggest that you familiarize yourself with the parameters of the recommended engine oil for the Audi A6.

Gasoline motors

According to the operating instructions for an Audi A6 car, it is recommended to fill in motor lubricants with a viscosity of SAE 10W-30 or 15W-50 that meet the approvals of VW500 00 or VW501 01 (Duckhams Q) or (Premium Petrol Engine Oil or Duckhams Hypergrade Petrol Engine Oil).

The volume of engine oil required when replacing, taking into account the oil filter, is:

  • 3.0 l for 4-cylinder engines;
  • 4.5 liters for 5-cylinder engines.

The frequency of replacing engine fluid is 15 thousand km. At the same time, the manufacturer recommends changing the lubricant more often (at least 2 times a year). The need to change the oil is indicated by the “OEL” symbol on the display of the Audi A6 car.

Diesel power units

Based on the manual for the car, you need to use lubricants with a viscosity of SAE 10W-30 or 15W-50 that meet the approvals of VW500 00 or VW505 00 (Duckhams Q) or (Premium Diesel Engine Oil or Duckhams Hypergrade Diesel Engine Oil).

The amount of lubricant required when replacing, taking into account the oil filter, is:

  • 3.5 liters for 4-cylinder engines;
  • 5.0 l for 5-cylinder auto engines.

It is recommended to change the lubricant every 15 thousand. For machines equipped with AAS engines, the oil and filter are changed every 7.5 thousand kilometers. The manufacturer indicated that it is allowed to change the engine fluid more frequently - this will increase the life of the power unit and the lubrication system. The need to change the lubricant is indicated by the inscription "OEL" on the display of the Audi A6.

For their car models, VW / AUDI has established standards for lubricants. These standards are indicated on the container with oil, for the manufacturer of the Audi A6 it is important to use original engine oils that meet the requirements of VW.

AUDI A6 has been using the LongLife Service system since model year 2000, the distinguishing letter of the model year is Y and the chassis number is 4BYN 002 888. Please note: motor oils with specifications 503 00, 503 01, 506 00, 506 01 are provided only for cars with LongLife service, they cannot be used in cars with engines before the 2000 model year.

Notes on VW/AUDI engine oil standards:

  1. Date of manufacture must be no earlier than 10/91.
  2. When it is necessary to change the engine lubricant on LongLife machines, if the recommended lubricant is not available, fluids that meet the API oil class SF or SG can be used. For diesel vehicles, there are alternative motor oils for fluids that meet the type of CD oil according to API standards.
  3. If the LongLife service car oil was not used on the LongLife service car, then when changing the engine fluid, you need to reprogram the Service indicator.
  4. If LongLife grease is not available, it is allowed to fill up to 0.5 liters. motor oils VW / AUDI 505 00 or 505 01 in diesel engines, and for gasoline power units use VW / AUDI 502 00.

Please note: motor oils that the manufacturer manufactures for diesel engines with the designation CD must not be poured into gasoline engines. For both types of engines, engine oils marked SG / CD are suitable.

Gasoline engines

  1. For cars up to and including 1999, it is necessary to use motor oils 500 00, 501 01, 502 00.
  2. In the case of cars from 2000 with LongLife Service, having a manufacturing letter Y, use motor oils 503 00 with 154 kW or 503 01.

The selection of the viscosity characteristics of the lubricant is carried out according to scheme 1.

The amount of lubricant required when replacing is:

  • 4.0 l if engines AJP / ARH / ADR / AQE 1.8;
  • 3.7 l for AEB / APU / ANB / AWT 1.8T engines;
  • 4.2 liters for ALT 2.0 engines;

Viscosity is selected according to scheme 1.

The volume of engine oil required when replacing is equal to:

  • 3.5 l for 1.9 TDI AFN/AVG/AJM/AWX/AVF engines
  • 6.0 L if the engines are 2.5 TDI AFB/AKN/AYM/BCZ or 2.5 TDI qu AKE/BDA.
Scheme 1. The dependence of the viscosity of the car oil on the temperature of the region in which the car will be used.

The decoding of scheme 2 is as follows:

  1. For gasoline engines it is allowed to use:
  • A - all-weather oils with increased anti-friction properties, corresponding to VW 500 00 or 502 00.
  • B - all-weather motor oils corresponding to VW 501 01, as well as SF or SG according to the API system.
  1. For turbo diesel engines:
  • B - all-weather lubricants that meet VW 505 00.

The manufacturer indicates that it is preferable to fill in all-season motor oils. Their advantage lies in the absence of buying different types of oils for summer and winter. According to scheme 1, for example, at temperatures from -10 0 C to +40 0 C (or more) for turbodiesel power units, it is necessary to use motor oils 15W-40, 15W-50 or 20W-40, 20W-50. At continuous outdoor temperatures below -20 0 C, it is recommended to use lubricants with a viscosity index of 5W-20.
