In the service book of cars of the Logan family, it will be indicated that the timing belt must be changed at 60 thousand. But there is evidence that the frequency of replacing the timing belt with Renault Logan is 4 years. You just have to see what comes first. And according to the regulations, a few more parts are always changed along with the belt, and not all of them relate to the drive mechanism. We will try to list them further.

Replacement schedule (factory frequency)

Be aware that the timing of replacing the timing belt with Renault Logan does not depend on the engine model. The manufacturer recommends:

  • Inspect the timing belt and adjust the tension - every 15,000 km;
  • Carry out replacement, even if there are no defects - every 60,000 km or 1 time in 4 years.

The listed information refers to the models of the first and second generation. For Logan sedans of the “3” generation, things may look different.

Whoever changes the belt says this: there are no scuffs or delaminations after 60 thousand.

The belt itself is designed for 90-120 thousand. But videos are a different matter. They can only be removed and cleaned, but it is better to replace them. Otherwise:

  • Loosening the tension will cause the belt to jump 1 or 2 teeth. For 16 valves, this is not uncommon;
  • Jamming the roller also does not entail anything good.

The water pump is usually changed after two hundred thousand km. But the regulation provides for another figure - 120 thousand. Make your own choice.

Adjustment

The tension is adjusted in different ways. On the K4M motor, unscrew the screw with the “13” key. Then a hexagon is installed in the slot on the roller (see Fig.). One edge is 6 mm.

By turning the hexagon, the rectangular marks are matched. Then the screw is tightened again.

As for the 8-valve engines, there is no “automatic tensioner” here. Everything is manually adjusted. First loosen the mount using the “16” key.

With a special key shown in the photo, the roller is turned to the right or left and the desired tension is obtained. The fixing screw is then tightened.
