Before diagnosing, I drew the attention of the masters to the following shortcomings: a creak in the front of the suspension (on the right), a rumble on the left at speed, frequent operation of the rear shock absorber pump (they are pumped in order to keep the clearance regardless of the car load), Jackie-Chan (Check Engine) is constantly on (the car is frankly stupid when you start using it at a ragged pace - my suspicion is about catalysts, the same problem has previously manifested itself).

The OD checked the car (preliminary estimate http://i077.radikal.ru/1205/dc/7f0f6c7ad27f.jpg) and issued an invoice for nearly 250,000 (two hundred and fifty thousand) rubles. A very “pleasant” amount, given that the cost of my car in the secondary market is no more than 450-500,000 (four hundred and fifty - five hundred thousand) rubles. Such a good repairman for half the car, it should be noted! It is clear that the prices for work and spare parts are overstated, but nevertheless my expenses amounted to 150,000 (one hundred and fifty) thousand rubles 00 kopecks (spare parts + work) from an UNOFFICIAL. True, it should be noted that in this estimate for replacement 1 (one) rear shock absorber (GM allows). But it’s also clear to the “hedgehog” that if one died, then the second one would die very soon, therefore he replaced both. If you count at official prices, then calmly add another 50,000 (fifty thousand) rubles to the estimate, that is, already 300,000 (three hundred thousand), as they say, who is more :)

He always liked the SRX, but before he began to study it closely, he thought that American cars were godless fuel guzzlers, with zero reliability, expensive maintenance and explosive and poorly made interiors! But after studying, his opinion changed! The only thing that really stopped him was the engine power - 255hp, it was these fucking 5 horses that seriously increased the transport tax, which scared him very much !!! The rest of the car is perfect! We paid the rest and the car was taken away! My father had joy, like a child, still, I liked the car for a long time and here he is driving, one might say, a dream car! Parts were immediately bought on the way home! The prices are quite reasonable: front brake discs 5000r\2pcs, pads 1850r, rear brake discs 6200r\2pcs, pads 2100r. (high-quality non-original Raybestos), bushings 700 rubles per pair (GM).

It is very difficult to write a review given that in the USA the service, prices, condition of cars, etc. looks like a completely different color. Therefore, I will write about the car as much as I understood it myself.

From the first days, I was surprised that after driving a long distance of 560 ml (stopping to pee, smoke) for the first time in my life, I did not remember what fatigue driving is. The slight rustling of the engine at a speed of 80 ml (with a heart rate of 1900 rpm) suggested that the engine was not started at all. 4 years have passed since the acquisition of this device (the car was produced in 04, but it was purchased completely new from OD in 05). During this time, managed to hit almost 85 thousand km. I had to treat the machine ... but since the warranty ended for another 3 years of operation, there was no hope for preferential treatment for this ailment. The service is normal if you do not find fault (and where is it perfect?). I recommend doing a test = drives, or better, take a ride from your friends. I rode a regular Range-Sport, but it wasn't mine. And so fanatic from the car ...

    The second impression is a cart! It just creaked almost immediately. I decided to take somewhere for 15,000, and the sellers tell me that the one who offered me 21,000 each took the parts in the warehouse and does not give them back. It even became funny to me - I say, figure it out for yourself. As a result, I took it elsewhere for 13,000. Work on a specialized, but not official service - about 1000-1200 r/h cheap.

What it was - a clumsy CV joint or clumsy masters - I don’t know, everything settled down later, but the sediment remained ... In general, the squeaks won, it became joyful again.

    Third impression - shock absorbers! I'm "lucky". I caught almost all the "highs" of the owners of SRXov))) Ie. discs and dampers. They also rumored to have troubles with converters and a rear suspension compressor, but the original shock absorbers were enough for me. Each costs 23,000 (I found the cheapest ones, they say there are even cheaper ones, but I had to wait 2 months). As a result, 46,000 and 5,000 replacement. Although everything is relative - pneuma on Audi is even more expensive, on the new Allroad at 45,000 per rack, they also change in pairs. So he got off lightly.

    The car didn’t break down anymore, although when it got colder it started to get worse, Akum almost didn’t hold a charge. Along the way, and Akum was old (5 years) and electrical glitches were present. There were several times that the car for no reason did not want to start. You just drive all day, everything is fine, and at some point the car stops responding to the key. Just silent. You jump around, press the buttons, open the hood, say a couple of mantras and start up again))) Along the way, the problems were in an abnormal signaling and label, which were also already tired, and I didn’t know the secret of their installation.

    As a result, I bought my wife a new Astra, but for an objective reason she could not ride it. And I began to ride the Astra, and the Cadillac was sad in the yard. And I was sad about it. And for the sake of everyone's fun, I decided to sell the Cadillac.

    Fourth impression - sale! Cadillac is a special car. Either a fan or a fan of cheap show-offs can buy. I'm probably both the one and the other in one bottle. We had to find the same person. And he was found! But not at once. First, a serious man came to watch the new Ku7 with a driver. To my logical question, and what the hell is Kadila for him, he logically answered - he took a new GL, but it takes 4 months to wait, some decent tin is needed to turn over and drain. I even felt sorry for Cadilka! I was not ready to sell like that, because in general he was not very bad and didn’t let me down too much. In the spring of 2012, GM announced its intention to update the Cadillac, as a result of which a restyled version of the SRX crossover appeared a year later.

    The new Cadillac SRX has been transformed both outside and inside. Features of technical equipment deserve a separate article, so we have to dwell on the main differences between the third generation of the crossover and GM.

    Appearance Cadillac SRX

    Externally, the crossover is also monolithic and aggressive. Faceted slots on a huge false radiator grille are now dressed in chrome, in the very center there is a large emblem of the company. The front and rear bumpers have become smoother and more expressive. Now, a compact air intake slit flaunts in front, on the sides of which there are fog lights in a chrome trim. The light-alloy aluminum wheels with a diameter of 20 inches have also been transformed.

    On the side, the Cadillac stands out with large arch radii and air intakes on the front fenders, which, by the way, now have their own backlight. The roof is slightly sloping, domed. The doors have a high sill line and fairly compact glass. From below, the crossover is covered with black plastic protection. The body also acquired another color option - Xenon Blue Metallic.

    The image of the crossover is complemented by large vertical headlights with adaptive bi-xenon and running lights. From the front, the Cadillac SRX looks not just brutal, but assertive, even harsh. The dimensions of the crossover are 4837 mm long, 1910 mm wide and 1669 mm high with 179 mm ground clearance.

    Salon Cadillac has changed much more. It is as solid as before and looks very expensive. The center console has been freshened up, a large multi-function display with USB ports and an SD card slot has appeared on the dashboard. The steering wheel has been heated. There are also control buttons for the CUE information system, which is installed on the center console. The system allows you to set up an audio system with Bose acoustics (with eight speakers) or Bose 5.1 for 10 speakers, adjust climate control. CUE is also equipped with navigation and displays a picture from the rear view camera.

    The driver's seat will comfortably accommodate a person of almost any build. All adjustments and settings are at arm's length, everything is located ergonomically and conveniently. The steering column can be adjusted in depth and height, you can even adjust the pedal assembly. The driver's seat has eight-way adjustment (with dual memory), adjustable lumbar support, heating and even ventilation, though only in the top trim levels. Heating is optionally available for the second row of seats.

    I would especially like to note the soundproofing of the Cadillac. Both modern soundproofing materials and multilayer double-glazed windows are used here. Between the rows of seats there is a system of structural barriers that prevent noise from under the car from entering the cabin.

    The second row of American-style seats is comfortable and spacious, even the three of us can sit quite comfortably. If desired, you can order a panoramic roof with electric drives for the sunroof and sunblind. However, this solution is suitable only for true connoisseurs of comfort. There are many options for interior trim, so choosing the color and material "for yourself" is not difficult.

    The cargo compartment of the Cadillac SRX has a volume of 844 liters, and with the rear seat backs down, this figure increases to 1730 liters. The tailgate is equipped with an electric drive, and the angle of its opening can be changed.

    Of the new safety features, we note the monitoring systems for blind spots, lane departure control, and a front and rear collision warning system.

    Specifications Cadillac SRX

    In Russia, there are two engine options for the Cadillac SRX. The base engine has a volume of 3 liters and produces power up to 272 horsepower. This V-6 peaks at 7000 rpm and has excellent acceleration dynamics. After restyling, the engine became somewhat more economical and not as whimsical to the quality of gasoline as it was before.

    According to official figures, fuel consumption is about 13.6 liters in the city, 8.6 liters on the highway, and about 11.2 liters in the combined cycle. The maximum speed with such an engine is limited to 210 km / h, acceleration to 100 takes only 8.5 seconds. This year, the engine was slightly derated (power reduced to 249 horses) while maintaining the same torque. This was done to reduce the tax burden, which, needless to say, was too big even for Cadillac owners.

    Another engine option for Russia is a 3.6-liter V-shaped gasoline six. The motor produces as much as 318 horsepower at 6800 rpm. At 2400 rpm, a torque of 360 Nm is achieved. It is not surprising that with such data, the crossover is very, very dynamic: it accelerates to hundreds in 8.1 seconds, despite the fact that the mass of the SRX is two and a half tons. Naturally, fuel consumption also increased to 16.3 liters in the city, 8.8 liters on the highway and 11.5 liters in mixed mode.

    The Cadillac SRX is equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission with an all-wheel drive system and the ability to manually shift. A sport mode is also available. All-wheel drive, by the way, began to distribute torque differently and is now supplemented with a self-locking differential.

    The engineers did not change the suspension. Here is the same MacPherson strut in front and a multi-link design in the back. The suspension adapts to road conditions and is completely independent. All wheels are equipped with ventilated brake discs with drying and a warning system about malfunctions. The braking system is complemented by a variety of electronic assistants, such as ABS (4-channel, by the way), BAS, TRC, electric parking brake. Cadillac is equipped with power steering with a variable coefficient of effort.

    Safety in the new SRX is top notch. In addition to the standard front airbags, here we will find side airbags and side curtain airbags that protect the rear passengers as well. All seat belts are three-point, door locks are programmable.

    Prices and equipment Cadillac SRX

    There are 2 configuration options for the Cadillac SRX: Base and Top. The price of the basic configuration starts from 2,059,000 rubles. For this money, you get a crossover with a 249-horsepower engine, dual-zone climate control, CUE system, Bose acoustics, all-wheel drive and independent suspension. Finishing, as already mentioned, is only of high quality, so you should not worry about comfort: although the equipment is basic, the crossover is premium.

    But the top-end equipment is charged to the maximum. Both petrol engines are available to choose from. Many useful options have been added to the Base equipment, here are just a few of them: three-zone climate control, leather trim, keyless entry, Russian-language navigation, a rear-seat entertainment system and many others. The price of this configuration of the Cadillac SRX starts at 2,489,000 and 2,590,000 rubles for different types of engines.

    Despite its considerable age, Cadillac looks quite fresh and stylish to this day. It is as if carved from a single piece of granite or metal: the silhouette of the crossover is athletic and muscular. Judge for yourself: even 20-inch wheels are buried in huge wheel arches.

    The interior of the SRX, of course, is angular, but this angularity is even elegant and masculine in its own way. A new display has appeared on the dashboard, on which you can display up to three different indicators at the same time. With active driving, you can inadvertently touch the function buttons, but this does not happen all that often. USB connectors, of which there are two, can also be used to charge smartphones, which is very, very convenient.

    The Cadillac User Experience (CUE) has a smartphone-like desktop where you can rearrange apps to your liking. The multimedia system, by the way, supports gesture control, so you can “swipe” a track from one to another, you can also enlarge the navigator map with two fingers. The sensor, however, is somewhat thoughtful, but the outdated processor is to blame. The center console has also become touch-sensitive, from which climate control and seat ventilation are adjusted.

    There is enough space inside the Cadillac, you can get settled in the way that suits you. The seats have good lateral support, which is very useful when cornering vigorously. Spacious and in the rear seats, there is enough space in front of the knees. The entertainment system monitors are mounted in the backs of the front seats, there is a climate control unit. Bose acoustics, by the way, in addition to its main task, is also engaged in active noise reduction, so that extraneous sounds in the cabin are almost inaudible.

    The engine of the Cadillac is quite powerful, but this power is somewhat "eaten up" by a not too quick "automatic". Even in Sport mode, the box thinks for a long time before upshifting. But when the gear is up, the car acquires excellent acceleration, clearly not feeling a lack of power. The handling of the SRX is also excellent. The independent suspension confidently enters the turns and holds the trajectory perfectly, which is very strange for American cars prone to “rolling”. Road irregularities are smoothed out well, asphalt grain is not felt at all, but significant irregularities are still felt in the cabin, but this is not particularly annoying.

    What happened in the end? GM presented us with a solid crossover with excellent suspension, a powerful engine and decent handling. If you get used to slow down sensors, then the Cadillac will not have any disadvantages at all, so we hope that in the future this shortcoming will be eliminated. Restylings, as you can see, only benefit the American car. The latest improvement, for example, brought many additional options and systems that not all classmates have. It's also nice that, on average, the Cadillac SRX is cheaper than its competitors from the big German three by about half a million.

    Competitors

    It just so happened that often when choosing a Cadillac, buyers compare it with another premium crossover - the Lexus RX 350. Although the cars are similar, they are designed to satisfy different needs, which we will discuss further. The appearance of crossovers is clearly contrasted: a rectangular and hewn Cadillac against a rounded and smoothed Lexus. Vertical overlays for headlights versus traditional horizontal lighting technology. It's a matter of taste, there's nothing you can do about it. But almost everyone admits that in profile, the SRX looks fresher and more muscular than its competitor.

    The Lexus salon literally breathes luxury and sophistication, it's hard to even imagine who might feel uncomfortable here. Here, even on the screen of the multimedia system, there are no fingerprints left, so from this alone you can get an impression of the quality of the interior design of the crossover. Cadillac is a little different again. We've already talked about the overall chiselling and interior space of the SRX, so you can imagine its contrast against the sophistication of the Lexus. The comfort and convenience of Cadillac is also not to be occupied, and for long-distance trips, the crossover from GM is no less convenient than the Lexus. However, the leather trim on the RX looks more expensive, and the driver's seat has a fully electronic adjustment and more different settings. So, in a Lexus, the front seats can be both cooled and heated.

    The Cadillac is generally cheaper than the Lexus, which is undoubtedly a plus, but even with all the additional options, the SRX will not be more comfortable than the RX 350.

    The Lexus engine is somewhat more powerful and has more torque, while being somewhat more economical and environmentally friendly than the power plants on the Cadillac. The Lexus rides faster and accelerates out of corners more actively, and the suspension does not feel bumps as much. But it’s more interesting to go through a series of turns and generally drive along the highway in a Cadillac. You will always stand out from the flow of cars, while maintaining dynamics and passion.

    Oddly enough, the Lexus looks too perfect, so someone might enjoy the drive of driving a Cadillac. A pleasant ratio of ride and handling dynamics hides shortcomings in appearance, and the filling of the SRX, whatever you say, is simply magnificent.
