Being in the transmission oil, the “Reducer” composition creates conditions under which a metal protective layer is formed on the friction surfaces. This layer partially restores the dimensions and geometry of worn parts, optimizes gaps in friction pairs, and allows more oil to be retained on the surface of parts.

This allows:

  • Reduce noise and vibration. Optimization of clearances and restoration of bearings reduce noise and vibration during gearbox operation;
  • Improve run-out. Maintaining a denser oil layer on the surface reduces friction losses, which increases the run-out: driving the car in neutral gear;
  • Extend resource. The formed layer on the friction surfaces and retention of a dense oil film significantly reduces wear and increases the service life of the unit.

The effectiveness of the tribotechnical composition has been proven in independent tests:

  • Acts and tests of SUPROTEC compositions in industry and the automotive industry

Instructions for use

Processing of differentials, transfer cases and other mechanisms is carried out according to the following procedure:

  • Warm up the mechanism to operating temperature by letting it run under load for 15-20 minutes.
  • Turn off the car engine.
  • Thoroughly mix the bottle with the composition so that the sediment at the bottom is distributed throughout the entire volume of the liquid.
  • Pour 1 bottle of the composition into the mechanism through the standard filler hole. 1 bottle is enough to treat units with a transmission fluid volume of 0.7 to 2.2 liters.
  • Immediately after adding the composition, drive the car for 20-30 minutes in normal operation mode.

Immediately after treatment, the car can be used as usual. For long-term trouble-free operation of the unit, it is recommended to use the “Reducer” composition after each scheduled replacement of the transmission fluid.

Notes

The tribotechnical composition “Reducer” is designed to protect against wear, extend the service life and restore the characteristics of transfer cases, differentials, self-locking differentials, viscous couplings, Haldex couplings, limited slip differentials, and other automotive gearboxes that use any type of transmission fluid.

Precautionary measures:

  • Does not pose a health hazard under normal conditions of use.
  • If contact with skin occurs, wash affected area with warm water and then with soap and water.
  • In case of contact with eyes, rinse with plenty of water.
  • If ingested, consult a doctor.

Notes:

  • Shelf life: 5 years. The date of manufacture is indicated on the label.
  • It is not recommended to use in case of mechanical breakdowns of parts and assemblies.
  • The “Reducer” composition is compatible with all types of transmission oils, including ATF-based oils.
  • The sediment at the bottom of the bottle is the main working element of the “Reducer” composition - microparticles of minerals. It is extremely important to thoroughly mix the contents of the bottle before pouring into the unit. (The color of the sediment, depending on the release batch, can vary from light green to dark gray and black).
  • The “Reducer” composition does not interact with clutch frictions and does not affect their wear and performance.
  • An overdose when adding the composition by 1.5-2 times is not dangerous for the gearbox and does not interfere with its operation.
  • The “Reducer” composition does not affect the characteristics and condition of parts made of composite materials, ceramics and rubber products.

Noise, hum and howling in gearboxes are quite common phenomena among car owners. Few people are willing to endure what is happening for a long time, so drivers are looking for ways to solve the problem. Usually the noise is caused by an increase in the gaps between the contact spots of gear teeth or other working surfaces. Changes in clearances relative to the norm occur as a result of natural wear, or may be a consequence of a manufacturing defect or a defect at the production stage of the car. One of the effective solutions to the problem is the purchase of additives for the rear axle gearbox. Some believe that this approach does not help; it is necessary to immediately completely change the problematic part. But in fact, it is not so easy to purchase a high-quality spare part and install it correctly. In many situations, car owners are saved.

Additives can eliminate noise in the gearbox with minor wear of parts.

Causes of noise

If while driving you hear extraneous noise from the drive axle and differential, first you need to understand the reasons for this behavior of the car. There are several main factors that cause extraneous noise and howling:

  • lack of oil in the oil sump;
  • pollution;
  • faulty main gearbox;
  • wear of bearings provided on the axle shafts;
  • wear of spline joints used for semi-axial gears;
  • deformation or unacceptable runout in the axle shafts;
  • loose mounting bolts of the axle gear housing or other fastenings.

All this is not as rare as many motorists would like. But nothing can be done; you have to take appropriate measures when malfunctions occur.

Noise from the final drive or differential can occur for several reasons. This is due to:

  • large clearance in the bearings of the driving gears of the car;
  • incorrect gear adjustment;
  • gear wear;
  • tight rotation of the satellites on the axes;
  • scoring on the working surfaces of the satellite axes;
  • jamming of gears or axle shafts in differential boxes;
  • incorrect clearances between differential gear teeth.

If you know the reason, coping with the problem will not be difficult. The part does not necessarily need to be completely replaced. Sometimes special additives can provide a temporary effect.

How additives work

When planning to purchase gear oils to eliminate noise, many people think about the feasibility and real effectiveness of their use. After all, the reviews are quite contradictory. Some point out the high efficiency of additives, while others claim that they are useless. Let's try to figure this out. Special compounds for suppressing noise in gearboxes, gearboxes and differentials are combined under the general type of gearbox additives. That’s why they are used for problems with boxes, axles, gearboxes, etc.

The manufacturers themselves promise approximately the same effect from the use of their compositions. Traditionally it all comes down to:

  • restoration of friction pairs, that is, surfaces that come into contact with each other during vehicle operation;
  • protection and surface strengthening of rubbing elements;
  • optimization of the geometry of contact spots;
  • creating favorable conditions for the operation of all gearbox components, gearboxes, etc.

This set of functionality forms certain characteristics. That is, additives are added to:

  • increase the level of acoustic comfort during operation of the unit;
  • soften the gear shift procedure;
  • improve clarity when operating the manual gearbox;
  • increase the overall resource of the transmission and associated components;
  • increase the reliability of the box, gearbox, etc.

When additives are used to suppress noise to cope with the problems of loud gearboxes and gearboxes, many note the excellent effect of the compounds. This is achieved through the formation of a special protective film, which makes the surfaces of rubbing parts more durable, reducing friction activity and the formation of abrasive particles upon contact between them. The microhardness indicators of the surface layer of many high-quality additives are at a high level, which is why the wear resistance capabilities of the elements increase.

The geometry of the contact surfaces changes, the contact spots between the gear teeth are optimized. Because of this, the gears begin to operate much quieter. But they are the main source of noise and hum. But anti-noise additives are used not only in situations where the gearbox or gearbox, as closely interconnected units, shows signs of malfunction. Specialized additives can be used on completely new and serviceable cars. Here they will come in handy as a preventive measure. The point is not to wait until the gearbox starts making noise, but to prevent such a scenario from developing through competent prevention of possible malfunctions.

Efficiency level

Almost every motorist knows that a certain set of additives is initially poured into them. They make it possible to increase the efficiency of the composition, protect the enveloped components from wear, scuffing, damage, etc. If you add all kinds of additional compositions, the balance of oil components changes. This does not always benefit the car, its gearbox and gearbox. Therefore, it is important to make several objective conclusions regarding special additives, which were formed based on reviews of car owners and specialists in the field of car repair:

  1. Additives can have a positive effect on the wear resistance of gearboxes, gearboxes, differentials, etc. This is a proven fact in practice.
  2. Under certain circumstances, it is not possible to get rid of noise using additives alone. This is due to severe wear of the gearbox or insignificant effectiveness of the additive itself.
  3. If you use a high-quality composition that matches the design features and technical characteristics of the car, the operation of the gearbox and gearbox will be normalized.

It is preferable to use initially high-quality and expensive synthetic oils with a set of all necessary additives, rather than trying to dilute low-grade oils with additional additives. The use of additives for gearboxes is relevant when the wear of elements progresses, and the filled oil gradually loses its declared properties just a few months after replacement.

Instructions for use

When pouring additives for the gearbox, you need to proceed from the design features of your car. Usually they have approximately the same device, slightly different in location. Therefore, the instructions in question are given using the example of BMW cars and their rear axle gearbox. By analogy, you can perform work on many other cars. But be sure to refer to the instruction manual supplied with the machine.

To correctly fill the additive into the gearbox, you need to follow a certain sequence and follow the instructions:

For gearboxes, a single injection of the composition is required, unlike other components, where additives are sometimes introduced in 3 stages with a certain interval between them. The revitalization effect is achieved on average within 1000 – 1500 kilometers, if we talk about the complete completion of the process. The positive effect of additives is indicated by a decrease in the intensity of the observed noise after just a few tens of kilometers.

If the mechanism stops resuming normal operation after some time, this indicates severe wear on the gearbox. Here you should no longer expect help from additives, since revitalizants can no longer cope with this level of damage. An integrated approach to the problem will be required. But if the element is severely worn, you should not refuse to use additives. You need to replace the failed gearbox as a source of noise, change the oil and again add an additive. This will increase the protective properties of the oil, improve friction processes and normalize the noise level of the unit.

Offered range

Now all you have to do is select a high-quality composition to restore the operation of the gearbox, get rid of extraneous noise and solve the problem without major intervention in the design of the car. First, make sure that the damage is not so serious and that the additive will actually give results. Excessive noise levels and other signs of increased wear indicate that the additive is unlikely to help you in any way. But you still shouldn’t give it up, since it would be rational to use the additive after repairing the gearbox or replacing it.

Regarding the range of special additives, the following solutions are among the leaders:

  • RVS Master Tr;
  • Xado;
  • Suprotec;
  • Nanoprotec;
  • Hi-Gear;
  • Liqui Moly;
  • EX 120;
  • MosTwo Ultra, etc.

Let's look at some of the compositions separately. This way you will find out why this or that additive is good for the gearbox, and how effective it will be in the event of a problem with excess noise in the unit.

Each of the additives presented is designed to restore surfaces and prevent increased wear of elements in contact and rubbing with each other. This is achieved through the formation of a special film of increased hardness. If you need to strictly reduce noise in the gearbox, you should not use additives only for this purpose. Additives are positioned as means for restoring parts that wear out due to natural reasons as a result of vehicle operation. The formed film allows the geometry of the contact layer to be restored to one close to optimal, which helps reduce the noise level.

Choose additives only from proven, well-proven manufacturers with positive reviews. You can't always trust their promises.

Protective and restorative composition for gearboxes and manual transmissions

Eliminates (or reduces) noise from manual transmissions, axles or transfer cases.

Designed to protect mechanical transmission units from wear, restore and improve their technical characteristics. Such drugs are usually called transmission additives. The 125 ml package is designed to treat transmission units with a total oil volume of up to 3.5 liters.

The composition is used for any mechanical transmission units: mechanical gearboxes, transfer cases, front or rear axle gearboxes, with the exception of transmission units operating by friction (LSD type limited slip differentials, TOD type transfer cases, etc.).

Effect of use:
  • Multiple extension of motor life
  • Reduced noise and vibration
  • Significant increase in vehicle mileage
  • Multiple increase in the “survivability” of components during oil loss and overloads
  • Fuel savings of up to 5% on front-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive vehicles and up to 10% on all-wheel drive
  • Extending the service life of oil in components by 1.5-3 times

Protective and restorative compositions cannot be poured into oil that contains other restorative components, for example XADO revitalizant and the like. In this case, ZVS is used after changing oil containing such components.

Instructions for use:

The composition is used with fresh oil or oil that has used no more than 50% of the prescribed period.

When changing oil:

1. Drain the old oil from the transmission units.

2. Thoroughly mix the contents of the bottle by shaking until the sediment disappears.

3. Pour the composition into the prepared fresh oil in the proportion of 40-50 ml of the composition per 1 liter of oil.

4. Mix the mixture and immediately pour it into the transmission units in the volumes specified by the manufacturer: manual transmission, transfer case and axles. Tighten the oil filler plugs.

5. Immediately after filling, drive the car for at least 10 minutes in total in all gears, after which the transmission units are ready for operation in normal mode.

If the oil in the units does not need to be changed, then it is necessary:

1. Unscrew the oil filler plugs in all mechanical transmission units and check the oil level in them.

2. If the oil level is maximum (up to the upper limit of the low-fill hole), then using a syringe with the tube included in the product kit, it is necessary to pump out from each transmission unit as much oil as the amount of protective-restorative composition you plan to pour into this unit.

3. Thoroughly mix the contents of the bottle and pour the composition using a syringe into the oil filler holes of the manual transmission and other transmission units in the proportion of 40-50 ml of the composition per 1 liter of oil. Tighten the oil filler plugs.

4. Drive the car for at least 10 minutes in total in all gears, after which the transmission units are ready for normal operation until the scheduled oil change.

5. If there is significant noise in transmission units, the dosage of the composition should be increased by 1.5-2 times.

Ilya

At one time I poured this mixture into a BMW 7 Series with a manual transmission, as there was noise in 2nd gear. After driving for a while, the noise disappeared, more than 7 years have passed, the box is working perfectly, during this time I changed the oil in the box again and filled it with ZIC 75W90, for me this is the best oil for transmission, although I didn’t fill it with the Motorresurs ZVS for the second time.

Alexander Avdeev

I purchased a protective and restorative composition for the manual transmission, after pouring it into the gearbox, the noise decreased but did not disappear completely, but the friction in the gearbox and axle decreased, which is why fuel consumption decreased! Thank you very much and all the best!!!

I drove at least 3 (Three) kilometers without oil in the manual transmission, due to circumstances beyond my control, where after filling the oil in the manual transmission, a characteristic hum appeared during operation, the gears were engaged with a grinding sound. After treatment with the protective and restorative composition “Motoresurs”, the hum in the manual transmission disappeared, the gears switched on smoothly and silently, that is, the composition actually repaired the manual transmission. Regarding the treatment with the said composition for the engine, I cannot say anything, since the engine compression was not measured before and after treatment. With uv. I.

The vehicle's transmission consists of a gearbox, differential, transfer case, axle shafts and driveshaft. In this case, the differential can be combined with the gearbox - this applies to automatic transmissions and manual transmissions (front-wheel drive), or it can be located in the axle.

The main load, and therefore wear, falls on bearings, gears, shafts and couplings. An automatic transmission also has a mechanical part, which consists of several planetary gears and gears.

The most common breakdowns and malfunctions are wear of the drive shaft bearings, gears and differential; breakage and chipping of gear teeth; wear of the ends of the synchronizer ring teeth; large gap in the synchronizer clutch interface. As a rule, this manifests itself in the form of increased noise and vibration of the gearbox, hum and howl at speed, knocking of the gearbox when shifting gears, knocking out gears and difficulty engaging them (with grinding noise and excessive effort).

Nothing lasts forever, but it is important to know what increases wear and reduces the service life of important car components. And also, how to avoid expensive repairs, what auto chemical products: additives and additives can help with this.

The service life of manual transmissions, automatic transmissions and other components is affected by:

  • operating conditions and compliance with factory instructions
  • carrying out routine maintenance and adjustments
  • quality of lubricants. Each type of transmission uses its own oil recommended by the manufacturer.
  • driving skills

For example, operating a car with a trailer requires not only special operating conditions and speed limits, but also more frequent maintenance, inspection and often the use of technical fluids of a different viscosity. The oil in the transmission of any car performs several functions, and great demands are placed on it:

  • fluidity at low temperatures
  • low thermal change coefficient
  • required friction coefficient
  • lubrication of parts
  • removal of heat and wear products
  • do not form foam or sediment

It is quite difficult to determine on your own what is humming and howling, the gearbox or the axle, the wheel bearing or the differential, especially when you are driving in the cabin and at speed. But you can check the oil level, its condition and the presence of wear products yourself.

What to do if you encounter the above problems?

You can look for a used unit, some are in a hurry to sell the car at a big discount, others for transmission repair. But there are many solutions here too. From the independent ones, starting with trying another oil, thicker, there are those who try to sprinkle sawdust. Looking for additives to eliminate the hum, but they last from replacement to replacement. There are many stories about how I bought a car and decided to change the fluids. And after the replacement, the box began to hum.

What does RVS-Master offer for gearboxes, axles, transfer cases and gearboxes?

Unlike additives (Slick50, STP, etc.), RVS treatment does not create a temporary film, but builds up a new material on the surface by diffusion, bonded to the base metal as a single whole, which allows:

  • restore the geometry of gear surfaces;
  • reduce noise and vibration levels;
  • increase the service life of parts;
  • shift gears more easily and clearly;
  • compensate for wear on the contact spots of gear wheels up to 0.5 mm;
  • reduces wear during operation in cold weather.

RVS technology is a method of using a mixture of geoactivators to produce modified metals and metal-ceramic surfaces, allowing to achieve extremely low friction coefficients in units. RVS-Master does not change the chemical composition and physical properties of oils, and does not react with base additives.

By processing, on the one hand, mechanically worn parts are restored, on the other, the physical characteristics of friction surfaces are significantly improved.

The picture shows one of the teeth of the axle differential. The section shows the wear zone. The ceramic-metal layer is created only on the wear patch, since only here, as a result of friction, the heat necessary for the chemical reaction to occur occurs. The thickness of the build-up layer is proportional to the degree of wear. Where there is no friction and wear, the layer does not appear at all.

It is known that even completely new parts are not ideal in size. All parts of mechanisms are manufactured with a limited degree of accuracy - with so-called tolerances. In addition, when sending the box for repair, you will not be ready to replace all worn-out parts, but only those that you cannot do without, otherwise the cost of repair will be unreasonably high.

Repair compounds allow you to restore and effectively protect both new and worn parts from wear.
