Chevrolet Lacetti hatchback. Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback (Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback)

Chevrolet Lacetti hatchback. Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback (Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback)

The five-door Chevrolet Lacetti hatchback debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2004, and in 2009 it was replaced in the company's lineup by the global Cruze. But the car did not retire even then, remaining on the assembly line until 2013. The Lacetti was also presented on the Russian market, where it enjoyed stable demand throughout its entire life cycle.

The Koreans made a very harmonious car at one time. Not even the Koreans, but the Italians - after all, they worked on the design of the Lacetti hatchback in the ItalDesign studio located in Turin. The five-door looks very dynamic, but not shocking. In any case, she does not attract surprised glances, and in the flow she practically does not catch the eye.

The front of the Lacetti looks quite calm due to the almond-shaped headlights, but the car immediately “shoots” with aggressive rear lights, beautiful multi-spoke wheels with a diameter of 15 inches (in the available versions - 14-inch “stamps”), as well as rear pillars tilted forward. In expensive trim levels, the appearance is further emphasized by an elegant roof spoiler.

The length of the golf hatchback is 4295 mm, height – 1445 mm, width – 1725 mm. The wheelbase of the Chevrolet Lacetti hatchback fully complies with the canons of the class - 2600 mm, and the ground clearance is also 162 mm. When equipped, the car weighs from 1170 to 1210 kg (it all depends on the engine and type of transmission).

The interior of the five-door Chevrolet Lacetti matches its appearance - it is dominated by smooth and smoothed lines, which indicates its sporty and youth orientation. An informative and easy-to-read dashboard, a well-designed center console with logically located controls, and generally high ergonomics have made the hatchback a popular representative of its segment.

Regardless of the version, the car has a standard CD receiver, but the climate control unit can be represented by either three air conditioner “knobs” or full-fledged climate control with a small display (monochrome).

In the interior of the five-door Lacetti, aluminum inserts are widely used, which dilute the inexpensive but rather pleasant plastic. The steering wheel and gearshift lever are covered in leather, and in top trim levels there are also seats. All parts are precisely adjusted to each other, which indicates a high-quality assembly level.

The front seats of the hatchback are comfortable, but they set you up for a quiet driving style due to the lack of lateral support, but the range of adjustments is wide (there is even a height adjustment). The rear sofa is designed for two people, but there is enough space for three passengers, as evidenced by the corresponding number of headrests.

By C-class standards, the luggage compartment of the Chevrolet Lacetti hatchback is modest - only 275 liters of usable volume, but it can be increased to 1045 liters by leveling the rear seat to the floor. The “hold” has a convenient shape, the loading area is absolutely flat, and the opening is moderate.

Specifications. The Chevrolet Lacetti hatchback was equipped with three gasoline engines, each of which was combined with a 5-speed manual transmission, and the two most powerful units were also equipped with a 4-speed automatic transmission.
The younger engine, with a displacement of 1.4 liters, generates a power of 95 horsepower (131 Nm of torque) and provides the car with acceptable dynamics. So, it takes him 11.6 seconds to reach the 100 km/h mark, and the acceleration will stop when it reaches 175 km/h.
The 1.6-liter engine plays the role of an intermediate one - its output is 109 forces and 150 Nm of maximum thrust. If it is paired with a “mechanics”, then the car reaches the first 100 km/h in 10.7 seconds and accelerates to 187 km/h, and if with an “automatic” – in 11.5 seconds and 175 km/h, respectively.
The top one is the 1.8-liter “four” with a return of 121 power (169 Nm of torque). Acceleration from zero to first hundred for a powerful hatchback takes 9.8-10.9 seconds, and the “maximum speed” is limited to 187-195 km/h.

A car with a 1.4-liter engine is content with 7.2 liters of gasoline per 100 km in combined mode, but a more productive unit requires 0.1 liters less fuel in the case of a manual transmission and 0.9 liters more in conjunction with an automatic transmission. The most powerful Lacetti consumes from 7.4 to 8.8 liters of fuel, depending on the gearbox (in favor of manual).

The Chevrolet Lacetti hatchback is based on a “trolley” called J200. The C-Class model is equipped with a fully independent chassis. On the front axle, the suspension is represented by MacPherson struts, and on the rear axle - by a multi-link design (in both cases there are anti-roll bars). The brake system with disc mechanisms and ABS is responsible for slowing down the car.

Equipment and prices. On the Russian secondary market, the Chevrolet Lacetti in a five-door solution is available at a price from 250,000 to 450,000 rubles (the price at the beginning of 2015, highly depends on the level of equipment and the installed engine-transmission combination). But even the simplest hatchback cannot be called “empty” - it has air conditioning, four electric windows, airbags (for driver and passenger), ABS, radio, PTF and heated external mirrors with electric drive.

Chevrolet Lacetti is a middle class car (Class C according to the European classification). Production was carried out from 2003 to 2013 at GM Daewoo factories in South Korea, Russia and Uzbekistan. The car's design was developed by the Italian studio Pininfarina. The model replaced the Daewoo Nubira.

The presentation of the Chevrolet Lacetti, also known in other markets under the names Daewoo Lacetti, Buick Excelle/HRV, Chevrolet Nubira, Chevrolet Optra, Chevrolet SRV, Holden Viva, Vauxhall Viva, Suzuki Forenza and Suzuki Reno, took place in the summer of 2003. In Russia, the car was offered in a full range of body styles: 4-door sedan, 5-door hatchback and station wagon. In 2008, the second generation of Chevrolet Lacetti appeared, which was called Lacetti Premiere, but is available in the markets of most countries under the name Chevrolet Cruze.

There were two trim levels for the Chevrolet Lacetti hatchback: SE and SX. Standard equipment on the SE trim includes air conditioning, power steering, a height-adjustable driver's seat and a CD stereo. The SX package additionally includes: a climate control system, side airbags for front passengers, fog lights, a case for the driver’s glasses located on the ceiling panel above the door. The minimum trunk volume of a hatchback is 275 and 1045 liters (with the second row of seats folded), but thanks to the presence of a fifth door, loading is more convenient.

The Lacetti engine range includes modifications with 1.4 liter and 1.6 liter engines in combination with a manual or automatic transmission. If we talk about power, even the most modest 95-horsepower 1.4-liter engine will allow the owner of a Lacetti sedan or hatchback to feel quite confident not only in the city, but also on the highway. When planning a large load or on long trips, of course, the 1.6 engine would be more preferable - an additional 14 hp. will not seem superfluous here.

The front suspension of the Lacetti hatchback is independent, McPherson type (telescopic strut and steering knuckle). The rear distinguishes the car from most representatives of the class with its more complex design - completely independent, double wishbone, includes a shock absorber strut, trailing arm, double wishbone, transverse stabilizer, coil spring, telescopic shock absorber. Plus, the car exhibits “collected” behavior on the road during active driving. At the same time, Russian-assembled Lacetti are adapted to domestic operating conditions: ground clearance increased to 165 mm, reinforced suspension elements, standard anti-gravel treatment.

All modifications of the hatchback are standardly equipped with two airbags, disc brakes front and rear (front ventilated), anti-lock brakes, belt tensioners, and ISOFIX fastenings. More expensive trims may include side airbags. The actual safety of the Chevrolet Lacetti can be judged by crash tests of the Holden Viva (hatchback) and Suzuki Forenza (sedan) twins conducted in 2005 and 2007 in Australia (ANCAP) and the USA (IIHS), where the cars showed good results.

Chevrolet Lacetti captivates with a good list of basic equipment, a comfortable interior and high-quality interior materials, and with its dynamic character, designed, among other things, for an active driving style (except for the 1.4 engine). All-round disc brakes, durable suspension, and the ability to choose the body type are definite advantages. Popular ratings rate the model quite highly. Of course, there are also some drawbacks, and perhaps some may find the suspension a bit harsh; sometimes there are complaints about the thin metal and the durability of the paintwork. On the other hand, affordable prices have always distinguished this car, which contributes to its strong position in the secondary market.

Reviews from Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback owners

I’ll tell you about the results and operation of the Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback. The air conditioning and stove are frankly weak, in winter we had to stand for a long time and warm up. The car is spacious inside. Ergonomically, everything is fine, everything is in its place, you quickly get used to it. The mirrors are large, visibility is good, with the exception of the left A-pillar - it is very wide, sometimes you may not notice pedestrians, but then you get used to it. The seats are comfortable and easy to adjust. The main drawback is the stove, otherwise everything is good and convenient, of course I can’t compare it with Mercedes, it’s quite decent for its class. The music is good. Operation: the suspension of the Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback is excellent, it handles all irregularities well. Now it’s true that it’s completely due for replacement, but with my driving it’s surprising that just now, both the suspension and the whole car as a whole have withstood a lot. During its entire service life it has undergone one maintenance. Then I changed the oil, pads, etc. myself. I changed the timing belt from a friend of mine in a garage; I paid, in my opinion, 7 thousand rubles for everything. Now we need to change: the valve cover gasket (it’s broken), the suspension (maybe something else related, I’ll change it - I’ll figure it out) and possibly the steering rack (the steering wheel shakes periodically), I should spend about 40 thousand on everything, no more. There were no other problems, I say again - I treat the car very carelessly, I don’t regret it. The Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback accelerated to a maximum speed of 170 km/h. Although the car has 94 “horses”, it has much more agility. The engine is good - torquey (although now I would take more). The gearbox still works smoothly. The car runs smoothly and comfortably. It consumes about 10 liters per 100 km - this is from refueling to refueling, I calculated it at different periods and with different gasoline, by the way. Dirt resistance is poor - in bad weather the side windows and mirrors quickly get dirty, you have to go out and wipe them. Noise insulation is not very good - you can hear both the road and the engine. It handles and holds the road well.

Advantages : reliability. Unpretentiousness. Convenient.

Flaws : stove. Low and high beam.

Essentially: the interior of the Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback is spacious, a comfortable fit was set up quickly enough, fortunately there are enough adjustments. The interior is simple and utilitarian, but what can you do as it is? The hole in the middle of the dashboard instead of music is confusing; I want to cover it with some kind of rag. But this, I hope, will not last long. The plastic is hard, but it’s made quite well, there are no “crickets” yet, and the gaps are not noticeable. The dashboard is adjacent to the doors. Although many people say that the Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback is noisy, for me it’s quite quiet, although yes, at high speeds the engine can be heard clearly. But again, against the backdrop of VAZs, everything is wonderful. Visibility is acceptable, but the side pillars are a bit of a hindrance. But the mirrors are big, great. I’ve almost gotten used to the dimensions, but there are still some minor problems when parking in reverse. Although the suspension of the Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback is a bit harsh, I like it, I don’t feel any discomfort, there are no breakdowns, I feel the road well. Dull knocks on bumps are not annoying. Handling – it takes turns willingly, I don’t notice any rolls, and it doesn’t deviate from the straight line. Although the steering wheel is too big and thin, it was very disappointing, but I hope that I will get used to it. The brakes brake when needed, I got used to it literally in one trip. Very good brakes. Dynamics is enough for me. It’s clear that a manual transmission is faster, but I really liked the way the car drives with an automatic transmission. Starts, overtaking - everything is fine. Yes, not a Tiguan or a Passat, but quite pleasant. The automatic transmission, by the way, is excellent, “Aisin”, the shifts are not felt, no vibrations or delays were detected.

Advantages : adequate price. Not bad dynamics. Excellent Japanese machine gun. Spacious salon. Comfortable chairs. Good brakes. Pleasant handling.

Flaws : no on-board computer. Lack of built-in radio. Insufficient sound insulation. Simple salon.

Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback, 2011

Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback is not my first foreign car, there was a Volksen Golf, an Accent, and among ours I drove a Volga and a VAZ. At the moment, 8 thousand kilometers have been covered, you can form a first impression of the car. The Chevrolet Lacetti hatchback is more rigid compared to the Golf and Accent, but in moderation, the handling is excellent. The dynamics are no worse than the Accent; if you accelerate, then its 11 seconds to 100 is quite enough. I measured it using GPS and a computer. The capacity is satisfactory for me, suitable for supermarkets, and if the rear seats are folded down, it is enough for large cargo. Gasoline consumption surprised me at first - during the run-in it was up to 15 liters, and this was in the summer, but gradually fell, now in the city it’s 11-12. Lil both 92 and 95 - I didn’t feel the difference. The light at 4 is a stretch, even with fog lights, but it’s enough in the city. If we talk about the build quality, then it’s quite good, the gaps are even, the plastic is moderately hard, so far nothing rattles or creaks. There is more than enough space in the cabin; I can sit comfortably at my height, 183 cm, and weigh more than 100 cm. Five of us could sit comfortably. Sound insulation is average, but better than that of the Accent, and I installed sound insulation on the hood - it wasn’t there from the factory, which is strange. There haven’t been any severe frosts yet, I can’t say anything, so far it starts well, doesn’t hesitate, the car is warm, not right away, of course, after 10 minutes. After 2 thousand I changed the oil, not at the maintenance service, but at a friend’s, fortunately this is not necessary. There were no malfunctions, I just added 300 grams of antifreeze, this is for 8000 km. The brakes are all disc, so they are fast and predictable, much better than those of the Accent. In general, as expected, I have a car for three years and am generally happy with the purchase, a normal city car. Overall, I’m happy with the car, if only the prices were more realistic, but that’s not in this life...

Advantages : large salon. There are enough adjustments to the steering wheel and driver's seat. Good ergonomics of the driver's seat. A good pair of engine and automatic transmission. Good brakes. Build quality.

Flaws : medium head light. Lack of heat and sound insulation of the hood.

Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback, 2008

Chevrolet lacetti, hatchback 2008, 1.4, “drum” equipment. Engine: 1.4, that says it all. But you can accelerate sharply, and 150 on the highway on long trips is not a problem at all. The only problem is a leak from under the cylinder head. Three services could not solve the problem for more than 3-4 thousand km, I had to do everything myself using a book and advice from the forum, a total of 500 rubles for a gray sealant and the cheapest gasket. 2 hours of work, everything is tightened with the right torque and in the right order, pre-degreased and cleaned, coated with the right sealant in the right places, left for a day - everything is clean and dry until it is sold. I can say with complete confidence that the engine is absolutely reliable and quite suitable for urban operating conditions. The gearbox on the Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback is disgusting. You wave your hand when switching, like on a truck from the 60s. Transmissions are unclear. After 100 thousand mileage, the rear one almost always engages with a crunching and grinding noise. The first one in a second. The box is definitely a minus in terms of ease of use. But there is a plus in terms of reliability - no breakdowns. The suspension is completely independent, in the stock version it handles perfectly and also handles road irregularities perfectly. At 100 thousand mileage, after a winter trip with a load of 3 people with a total weight of about 330 kg, with 3 friends (offhand 165 kg, but who knows), plus a full trunk (still in the region of 50-70 kg), first one leaked, then the second is the rear shock absorbers. Replacement with “kayaba”, it became higher and tougher, the issue price is 15 thousand including work. Stabilizer struts fly once a year. Well, it's like everyone else. There is really a lot of space in the Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback - the car seems to look smaller than it actually is. More than once I spent the night both on the road and in nature - with a height of 180, weight 95 and the front seats pulled back, I threw an air mattress on the folded back ones and slept at full height. Sometimes I carried 8 people at a time. In short, the space in the Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback is in order, but it’s worth considering that the trunk is far from the largest volume. In terms of controls, everything is ergonomically convenient, except for the horn buttons, perhaps. Body - galvanized. Excellent resistance to corrosion, even where chipped to metal. I didn’t regret buying the Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback, I drove it head and shoulders for 4 years, and when its time came, I sold it within a day from the moment the ad was posted until full payment was made and it was re-registered to the new owner.

Advantages : inexpensive to maintain. Comfortable.

Flaws : the car is morally outdated.

Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback, 2005

Having carefully studied the market and reviews, I chose the Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback due to the best combination of reliability, design, comfort, cross-country ability, spaciousness, operating cost and purchase price. I bought it six years old with 60 thousand mileage (real mileage - I got it from a friend). Sold at the end of 2015 with 170 thousand mileage. Operation, both city and countryside. Both there and there the feelings are only positive. I used 185/65 R15 winter tires - I never got stuck anywhere or scraped the bottom (only sometimes with crankcase protection during severe rutting on the dirt road). Always started. I always got home and never had to tow it or use a tow truck. What had to be done, not counting the scheduled replacement of oil, filters, and technical equipment during maintenance. fluids, brake pads, spark plugs and belts, as well as burnt out light bulbs. So, at 70 thousand km - replacement of the rubber tube to the pressure sensor in the intake manifold (a vacuum one from a Zhiguli came up for 50 rubles), stabilizer struts, clock (did not change), battery. At 80 thousand - replacement of the front wheel bearing (it hummed, although no signs of wear were detected when removing), the USR valve was plugged. At 110 thousand - replacement of front strut supports, rear struts with supports, valve cover gaskets. At 140 thousand km - soldering of the air conditioning control unit, repair of the low beam circuit wiring, replacement of the fuel pump, again the wheel bearing (which has already been replaced). At 150 thousand - the standard radio and the tube to the rear washer died. 160 thousand - replacement of all tension rollers, brake discs, rear brake cylinder, right ball joint, front struts with supports, stabilizer struts. The total cost of unscheduled repair work with spare parts for the entire period of operation (10 years and 170 thousand km) is approximately 60 thousand rubles. About 6 thousand rubles. in year. With the seats folded down, you can transport a bunch of different items in the Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback (in addition to the lining, bedside tables, tables, I had to transport such things as a cast-iron bathtub, disassembled sofas, and an unassembled elliptical trainer).

Advantages : quality of painting - not a single bug in 10 years. Simple and reliable design. It rarely breaks down, spare parts are available and are 2 times cheaper than European and Japanese ones. Spacious salon. Starts in cold weather. Comfortable on any road.

Flaws : no heated seats. The low beam is weak.

Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback, 2011

I bought a Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback at the age of three with a mileage of 45 thousand km. The previous owner completely prepared it for sale. From consumables to polishing. I sat down and drove off, so to speak. For the first three years, I didn’t change anything except consumables. Once, out of stupidity and inexperience, I missed the pads. All around, the disks had to be changed, at the same time I changed the stabilizer struts, rods, and a couple of wheel bearings. At 90 thousand the clutch died. At 120 I changed the timing belt and pump with rollers and alternator belt. At 125 thousand km, the coolant pipe burst exactly along the clamp. The valve cover gasket was constantly leaking. Well, it was missing more than 5-7 thousand km. I don't know what this is connected with. Once I drove into a deep puddle on the right side and flooded the generator. It is very low located. They installed my father's spare battery and rode it to the marshal on the northern one. They tried to install a new one there, the new one worked on the stand, but not on the car. Result: we cleaned the brushes and installed mine, which helped cut costs three times. In cold weather, the Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback started the entire service life of my ownership. No more problems in 8 years of his life. I never counted the consumption. This can be found in other reviews, it all depends on the driving style and the fuel you fill. On average, let's say no more than 8-9. In terms of driving performance, everything suited me. In principle, it’s not a killable car, like the Logan, probably. But it is worth noting that it is more pleasant to sit in it than in Logan. The Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback handles the road up to 140 km/h excellently, quite maneuverable, but at 170 it’s already very scary. But he goes. Nowadays it’s not interesting to drive, and the car is not a racing car after all. The noise is, of course, normal for its class, but it also depends on the tires. Once again, I didn’t bother and do anything extra. Shumka. The radio is on 7-8 units and you don’t pay attention anymore. In terms of capacity, the Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback is good. Trips to Ikea only once resulted in ordered delivery. I’m not writing about the price of spare parts and service, because... Everything is on a budget, and some things you can do yourself.

Advantages : reliability. Easy to repair and maintain. Controllability. Maneuverability.

Flaws : very little.

Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback, 2008

The car is Korean-assembled and was purchased new in Moscow from an official dealer. Briefly - 1.4 liter engine, Elite equipment (maximum equipment for this engine), 5-speed manual transmission. The color of the Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback was also not chosen by chance; the car is very beautiful, in contrast to the dull black. All maintenance was done ONLY from official dealers, all maintenance from 1 to 7, at a mileage of 2250 km, I changed the oil (I did the so-called break-in), although this was not required. For the first three years, nothing broke in the car, only scheduled maintenance. Then the headlight bulbs burned out. Regarding the suspension, I only replaced the front stabilizer struts, nothing else. The suspension is strong. Operation is 90% urban, the remaining 10 are summer trips to the village and short trips around the Moscow region. Engine: 94 hp It’s quite enough in the city, if you’re traveling alone, it’s just two people. When the air conditioner is turned on, the car does not move. I hardly used the air conditioning for this reason. The engine has absolutely no oil. Never topped it up between maintenance. Fuel consumption (lil 95): city - 10 l. Route - 6-8 liters depending on the pace of driving. The Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback engine has a characteristic problem - the valve cover gasket is leaking, I changed the gasket 2 times - it still leaks. I gave up on this matter, the oil still doesn’t leave early. Regarding the gearbox: on the highway there is not enough 6th gear, overtaking, due to the weak engine, you have to carefully prepare, the gears are long, I accelerated to the 2nd gear cutoff - approximately 85 km/h. I switched to the Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback from the Seata Toledo (Golf 3), the gear shift on the Spaniard was perfect, on the Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback I had to get used to engaging 3rd gear, it is not clear, compared to the Germans. If you change from a Zhiguli - excellent. Comfort: because The equipment was complete, and it was very comfortable to be in the car, a comfortable armrest between the front seats, the seats themselves are conveniently shaped, both front and rear - it’s comfortable to endure a long journey in them, you sit like in a chair with your legs stretched out, convenient controls for the radio on the steering wheel , eyeglass case, cooled glove compartment, glass mirrors - everything is electric. There were no heated seats, but soft, warm covers were installed. Noise insulation is average, the car is not particularly quiet, especially on standard tires (it makes a buzzing noise).

Advantages : price. Reliability. Cost of service and spare parts. Large tank - 60 l.

Flaws : fuel consumption. Small ground clearance. Problematic engine.

Dmitry, Moscow

It’s hard to remember at least one other car that has traveled such a long way on the Russian market and has tarnished its reputation so little. It’s no joke, “lachetos” began to be sold in Russia in 2004, a couple of years after its world premiere.

Imagine, there were about seven years left before the appearance of the VAZ Grant, which by now had also managed to live its whole life...

The model is still alive today - in 2013, Uzbekistan organized the export of sedans to Russia, first under the Daewoo brand, and after 2015 as the Ravon Gentra - however, with a hatch face, a 1.5-liter engine developed in Korea and an optional 6-speed automatic as an alternative to a 5-speed manual. The “original” Lacetti also had a 4-speed automatic transmission, but three engines were offered - 1.4 (95 hp), 1.6 (109 hp) and 1.8 (122 hp) . Despite these differences, essentially the car remained the same, so we say “Lacetti” - we mean Ravon. But we will definitely dwell on the characteristic features of Ravon at the end of our story.

Hate #5: poor sound insulation

Owners of many inexpensive cars complain about sound insulation, but in the case of the Lacetti, objectively speaking, it really needs improvement - the engine is clearly audible in the cabin starting from 3,000 rpm, and the hum through the wheel arches manifests itself even earlier. In the front it is muffled by engine noise and is not noticed by everyone, but rear passengers notice it quite often.

In the photo: Torpedo Chevrolet Lacetti "2004–present"

Love #5: Timeless Design

As you know, the design of the front part of the car is different for sedans and hatchbacks (by the way, there were also station wagons on our market), and the “eternity” of design applies to a slightly greater extent to a two-volume car: it’s just a hatch with calm and harmonious body lines, without any or fancy elements. Would you say it's boring? But those who buy this car still say that it is beautiful! And in this price niche, such praise is worth a lot.

Hate #4: weak overclocking dynamics

When scolding or praising a car, the dynamics are usually linked to fuel consumption - they say, it doesn’t go, but eats (sometimes vice versa) - and some Lacetti owners often describe the performance of their cars in approximately these terms. However, it cannot be accused of any outstanding gluttony: “according to the passport” in the urban cycle it turns out to be 9.3 (1.4 engine), 9.1 (1.6) and 9.8 (1.8) liters per 100 km (yes, the 1.6-liter engine is the most economical) for manual versions. For 1.6-liter versions with automatic transmission, real city consumption is 12-14 l/100 km, but these are normal figures for old 4-band automatic transmissions, it’s a shame to complain. But the dynamics in the region of 11.6-10.7 seconds to “hundreds” is something that the owner of a Lacetti will always lack a little, no matter how much you make discounts on the “budget”. Only versions 1.8 move more or less (9.5 seconds), but there are not so many such cars in Russia. And two-liter cars were not officially delivered to us at all.

In the photo: Chevrolet Lacetti Sedan CDX "2004–present"

Love #4: “advanced” solutions for rear suspension and brakes

Independent rear suspension and rear disc brakes - none of the current cars in this price segment can boast of this (except that on LADA Vesta station wagons the brake drums will be replaced with discs), and this is no coincidence: the operational advantages of such solutions are, to put it mildly, not obvious. But the status of the car, which, thanks to these “chips,” seems to be in a higher class, certainly adds to the status in the eyes of the Russian motorist.

Hatred #3: low resource of chassis elements

Meanwhile, the properties of the Chevrolet Lacetti suspension are the subject of heated debate. Does rear wishbone suspension make the car more fun to drive? But a semi-independent beam would be much more reliable, simpler and cheaper to maintain. A rigid and elastic front suspension does not break through and allows you to maneuver more accurately? But at speed it still allows a fair amount of roll, and not everyone likes the rigidity itself. Be that as it may, it is quite easy to “kill” some chassis components on the Lacetti, especially for less careful drivers. Most often, shock absorber struts and stabilizer struts are subject to premature replacement. However, both “diseases” are inherent in a huge number of other cars that are lucky enough to drive on Russian asphalt.

In the photo: Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback CDX "2004–13

Love #3: large salon

Many owners of this car switch to it from domestic products, and primarily from LADA Priora, Granta and Kalina. Compared to these cars, the Lacetti has a really spacious interior, and rear row passengers especially feel this. This is the case when a couple of extra centimeters can give you completely new sensations.

Hate #2: low ground clearance

In the photo: Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback CDX "2004–13

Cars with a ground clearance of around 140 mm feel uncomfortable in Russia - remember how many complaints there were about the previous Ford Focus, as a result of which the ground clearance on later cars was increased. The Lacetti's ground clearance remains 145 mm, which, combined with a rather impressive front overhang, creates a problem for owners and forces them to write angry reviews on the Internet. Whatever you say, you feel much more comfortable on Russian roads in a Duster or Niva. By the way, the Ravon Gentra sedan, the current incarnation of the Lacetti, has maintained the same ground clearance.

In the photo: Ravon Gentra "2015–present"

Love #2: cheap consumables

Another comparison between our today’s honored “old man” and Lada cannot be avoided, and if on the previous point the domestic brand beats Chevrolet by one wicket, then in terms of the cost of spare parts the Lacetti takes revenge. In the sense that most of the components cost exactly the same money (give or take hundreds of rubles) as on the Lada. Thus, the Lacetti is the absolute dream of a huge number of domestic car enthusiasts: a real foreign car, and in service – like a VAZ.

Hate #1: Oil leaking from under the valve cover

Literally every Lacetti owner who has at least once looked under the hood of his car has seen this: oil leaks from under the valve covers. Even a branded GM gasket can sometimes leak, and leak heavily, sending oil “paths” to the spark plug wells. The disease is chronic and manifests itself at different times: sometimes the cover “sweats” at 20,000 kilometers, and sometimes at 2,000... But sometimes leaks become noticeable only around 120,000 km and are the only cause for concern for the Lacetti owner.

Love #1: high reliability

And those owners who know how not to jump over potholes spend their life together with the Lacetti in almost complete peace. The car pleases with a warm stove, a comfortable seat, good handling (no matter what you say) and, most importantly, high service life of engines (which are based on Opel licenses) and reliability of chassis components (again, no matter what you say). The design is verified to the smallest detail, which is what made it so durable.

In addition to the listed complaints (in fact, it’s impossible to call them reasons for hatred, it’s just the format), owners sometimes complain about “soft” body metal, the gluttony of “automatic” versions, long strokes of the manual lever, fogging of windows, an inconvenient climate control unit, “too modest "interior... You've already read this somewhere, right? That's right, in reviews of Lada cars. A rare “state employee” has a list of complaints that boils down to the fact that the car is simply too budget-friendly, isn’t it?

Very often you have to read something like “it’s a pity that they don’t make them anymore,” and the alternative in the form of the Ravon Gentra is not suitable for everyone: some people think the hatchback is more practical and harmonious in appearance, but it’s not in the Ravon range , sedan only. Its pros and cons remain the same as those of the Lacetti, only the paintwork on the bumpers of some cars begins to peel off almost within the first thousand kilometers.

But this also happened with “real” Lacetti, but otherwise... It’s good that there is a Ravon Gentra - someone will find this option for a “state employee” optimal. And he will be right in many respects.

The Chevrolet Lacetti hatchback belongs to the popular golf class. In the Daewoo Nubira line, which was replaced by the Lacetti in 2004, a hatchback version was not presented.

This was probably the reason for the development of the sedan and five-door by different studios. If Pininfarina specialists worked on the appearance of the sedan, the design of the hatch was developed in the ItalDesign studio.

Options and prices of Chevrolet Lacetti hatchback

MT5 - 5-speed manual, AT4 - 4-speed automatic.

The exterior of the Chevrolet Lacetti hatchback, unlike the sedan and station wagon, is characterized by smooth body contours. The front part of the car is also made in a different style: narrower headlights in the form of an elongated drop and a sloping hood create a feeling of lightness and sportiness.

Nevertheless, the hatchback fits very harmoniously into the overall style of the Lacetti line: straight transitions and sharp edges on the doors and wings almost completely repeat the pattern of those on the sedan.

The interior of the five-door differs only in details. In particular, the rear shelf separating the trunk from the passenger compartment. Otherwise, the designers left everything unchanged: the same instrument panel, the same finishing materials, the same desire to “round off” even small design elements, such as air deflectors or decorative panels on the doors.

Since the Chevrolet Lacetti hatchback is one of the longest in its class (overall length is 4,295 mm, width - 1,725 mm, height - 1,445 mm), the rear passengers in the cabin are by no means cramped.

On the Russian market, the five-door is offered with two options of gasoline engines. The base engine is a 94-horsepower engine with a displacement of 1.4 liters, and is paired with a more powerful 1.6-liter engine producing 109 hp. The latter, in addition to a 5-speed manual, can also be ordered paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission.

Official dealers offer the Chevrolet Lacetti hatchback in five configuration options. These are two SE options (with and without air conditioning), one SX trim level with the base engine, and two SX options, but with a 1.6-liter engine.

The initial version is an almost “naked” car, equipped only with ABS, power steering, power accessories (without rear door windows) and audio. For such a car they are asking 462,100 rubles.

The additional payment for air conditioning is 27,000 rubles, and the price of the top version of the Chevrolet Lacetti hatchback with an automatic transmission, full power accessories, air conditioning, an audio system with six speakers and aluminum decor reaches 562,800 rubles.
