The second most popular gasoline engine for GAZelle trucks was the UMZ-4216 engine, known from the GAZ-3302-216 and GAZ-330202-216 modifications with an extended cargo platform. It also has 4 in-line cylinders, but with a total displacement of 2.89 liters and an improved distributed fuel injection system. The maximum output of this power unit is 123 hp. at 4000 rpm, and the upper torque limit is 235 Nm in the range from 2200 to 2500 rpm. The main value of the UMZ-4216 motor is the ability to install gas equipment in a specialized service center.

Among diesel power plants, the most popular were the GAZ-5602 engines, intended for modifications of the GAZ-3302-531, an extended version of the GAZ-330202-531 and the all-wheel drive truck GAZ-33027-531. The GAZ-5602 engine, built on the basis of the STEYR M14 engine, received 4 in-line cylinders with a displacement of 2.13 liters and a turbocharging system. Its maximum output is 95 hp. at 3800 rpm, and the peak torque occurs at 204 Nm, available already at 2300 rpm.

In addition, some GAZelles, for example modifications GAZ-3302-748 and GAZ-330202-748, were equipped with an imported Chrysler 2.4L-DOHC gasoline engine. This power unit has 4 in-line cylinders, a displacement of 2.43 liters, a distributed fuel injection system and a 16-valve timing belt. Its power is 150 hp. at 5500 rpm, and the upper torque limit rests at 224 Nm at 4200 rpm. There were also 4-cylinder ZMZ-406 units in the line of gasoline engines, in particular 2.3-liter ZMZ-4061.10 engines with 100 hp output. and ZMZ-4063.10 with a power of 110 hp.

All engines for the GAZ-3302 family are combined with a non-alternative 5-speed three-shaft synchronized “mechanics” with a hypoid final drive gear ratio of 5.125. The gearbox interacts with the engine through a friction single-plate dry clutch with a hydraulic drive.

All modifications of the GAZ-3302 are built on a frame chassis with dependent leaf spring suspension at the front and rear, complemented by hydraulic telescopic shock absorbers and an anti-roll bar on the rear axle.

The wheel arrangement of most modifications of the GAZelle is 4x2 with drive to the rear axle, but the small-scale GAZ-33027-408 and GAZ-33027-531 received a 4x4 all-wheel drive transmission with a front axle permanently connected through the center differential and ground clearance increased to 190 mm.

The GAZ-3302 brake system is dual-circuit, has a hydraulic drive and a vacuum booster. Disc brakes are used on the front wheels, while the rear wheels of the GAZelle are equipped with simple drum brakes. The GAZ-3302 parking brake is equipped with a cable drive. The steering mechanism of the car is built on the “screw-ball nut” principle and in some modifications (3302-408, 330202-408, 330202-531, 33027-408 and 33027-531) it is supplemented with a hydraulic booster.

At the moment, the production of the “original” GAZ-3302 has been discontinued (on the secondary market in 2017 it can be purchased for 80-200 thousand rubles), it was replaced in 2010 by a car with the same index, but already “GAZelle-Business” .
